THEY SHALL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK FOR PRAYER AND HEALING

This thread is to share our testimonies to healings particularly with
the laying of hands and prayer upon a person with need(s).
Some needs are great, even life-threatening others are not so
dramatic such as headaches, rashes and eczema or arthritis.

This thread is not for debating or arguing against such.
If you do not believe in miracles and healings then put your case in
your own thread in the Bible Discussion Forum.

The Testimonies Thread is for celebrating and sharing our
wonderful stories testifying to the power and love of our God
to his children through Jesus our Lord and Saviour.
Let us start off with the scriptures pertaining to this.
Later we can add testimonies as to our healings and miracles
to edify and encourage others to press in and seek the Lord
for He is a God of power and compassion.

Jesus said in Mark 16:
v17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; ...
v18 they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
So we can read that right from the very beginning we have the
promise that believers of the gospel shall have signs and wonders
showing to unbelievers that the gospel is true and alive.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church;
and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;
and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Jas 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:

Hence in my Pentecostal church at every worship meeting we have a prayer line
and people come up to the front to ask for prayer.
Those praying usually lay their hand(s) on a person's shoulder while they pray
for them.
I have received many an instant healing then and there, and at other times not.
But there is always a good reason for that.

We read in Acts 3 how immediately after the giving of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and disciples
that Peter and John perform a notable miracle ...

v2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of
the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
v6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee:
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up:
and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple,
walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Right from the beginning the gospel would be a gospel about the power and
the gifts of the Holy Spirit indwelling disciples and displaying the truth that
Jesus rose from the dead and conquered all things - the world, Satan, death,
illnesses and disease, the bondage of sin, the works of the Devil.

So how does all this work?

1Corinthians 12:
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; ...

Thus we can see these gifts in operation within the church when people come together
for prayer to be healed.
All are utilising the gift of faith given by the Holy Spirit; both parties step out in faith.
The person who seeks for a healing through prayer and the laying on of hands receives the
gift of healing;
The person who lays hands upon another and prays over them for healing is the recipient of
the gift working of miracles.

IWAS GIVEN LESS THAN A 1% CHANCE OF LIVING

here is a testimony from Evelyn Stockton of Fresno, USA

On April 28th 2007 I had stayed up praying for God to take away the
severe pain in my right leg, so that I could sleep. At 4:30 a.m. I suddenly
called Bill and said that we must immediately go to the hospital;
and we were there in a few minutes.

By that time a brown spot had started to appear on my leg. The pain was so severe
that they had to give me 3 shots of morphine, but that did not alleviate the pain.
The timing of the Lord was perfect. When I arrived, a doctor passing by made an assessment
that I had Necrotizing Fasciitis, a flesh-eating bacteria. I was in surgery within 2 hours.
Had he not sent me at that time, by-passing the usual testing, I most certainly would have died.

Prayer went out for me around the world. I was so sick that I was kept sedated for the next
10 or so days. Bill had to sign papers saying that they could amputate my leg if they were unable
to get the infection cut out. My kidneys started failing and I contracted a secondary infection.
I was given less than a one percent chance to live; they were virtually waiting for me to die.
Praise the Lord: we serve a God with healing power.

Many things happened during my 52 days in the hospital. I had a 10 X 12-inch graft of skin
taken from my left leg to cover the wound on the right leg. I was put to sleep 3 times a week
to change the dressings on my leg. The doctors were amazed at the speed in which I healed.

They wanted to label me as a wonderful patient, being so brave, etc., but every time I was
able to praise God and tell them of His power in my life.
I praise the Lord that He allowed me to go through this trial. It is very humbling to be so
totally dependent on the Lord.
I thought that I would not be able to return to my old life of work and serving His people.
But God has been gracious to me. I am well on my way to a full recovery.

December 2008

Evelyn is alive and well and has a testimony posted online in the testimonies link
for the Revival Fellowship, Fresno Assembly.

They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover...
this is not an exclusive commandment demanding that you must lay
your hand(s) on a person in order to pray for them.

Certainly we can and do this when practical; when you are in arm's reach to that person,
like at home or in a hospital room.
But there are times when I and others cannot physically lay hands on a person for
healing prayers.
Does this make our prayers ineffective?
No. Because in the body of Christ as we pray for one another we can partake of the power
available through the hand of God on our behalf.

The scriptures have numerous references to the hand of God and to the right hand and so on.
These verses describe in human terms the ability of God to act upon persons and situations to
bring about a result according to his will.

Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God
has touched me.
Job 19:21
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt
you in due time:
1Peter 5:6
Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou remember no more:
and they are cut off from thy hand.
Psalm 88:5
As for me, behold, I am in your hand: do with me as seems good and right unto you.
Jeremiah 26:14

Hence there are many testimonies to people being healed and raised up by the prayers
of their brothers and sisters who were afar off in terms of geography.
But through faith and prayers the hand of God comes upon a person and it is God's
power and will that brings about the miracle of healing.

If any man have the Holy Spirit, then these things they can do as a vessel for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit does these things on his own . If you have gas in your car, it will run.

Here is a wonderful dramatic testimony from Anne Timi
from Baue, in Papua New Guinea.

Ann experienced an ectopic pregnancy where the fetus is developing
outside the uterus, most commonly in a fallopian tube.

"All Other Mothers Died - Out Of Uterus Pregnancy"

God bless everyone, My name is Anne Timi.
I come from a small village call Baue in Papua New Guinea.
I was brought up in a Christian discipline family, went to school,
completed my education and was offered a job during my final year of studies.
During my career life, I go out partying and drinking with my girlfriends.
I met my wonderful husband at a night club, thinking that I will also find happiness
in marriage, however marriage turned bitter and sour for me.
I continued in my marriage even though it was bitter and sour for me because
it was my own decision to get married to him.

In September, 1997 during my pregnancy I suddenly started bleeding heavily.
I went to the hospital and the doctor scanned my baby and found out that my baby
was formed outside the uterus.

There were three (3) things the doctor told me;
1. I had 24 hours only to live
2. Emergency operation was the only hope to either save my baby or myself
3. I was an anaemic - shortage of blood.

After hearing all these messages,
I was really scared to die even though be a so called Christian.
I rang up my husband and told him about the doctor's results and statements.
With his small faith in God, he said he will invite his boss who is a Spirit-filled
Christian to pray for me.
He had witnessed his boss been healed by God from a serious illness.
His boss has witnessed to him at several occasions but deep inside him, he always say
that "I'm born Catholic and I will die Catholic".

When we were faced with this situation he forgot about be born Catholic and die Catholic,
he was desperate for a miracle to take place as he always see people healed when his boss
pray for them in his office.

I thought to myself, I'm a church goer or Christian, been to 12 churches, got baptised
six times searching for God why can't God hear my pray?
Anyway, I went home in the evening, the Spirit-filled couple came and shared God's
simple Gospel message of repent, baptise and receive the Holy Spirit quoted in
John 3:3-5.

I was desperate for healing & that evening and made up my mind not to be part of
their Revival Fellowship group.
However, when he was sharing God's Word, I forgot about healing and I believed the Word of God
and when they prayed in tongues, God healed me instantly in the evening when we said AMEN,
the bleeding stopped.

Next morning I went to the hospital and the doctor scanned me and we could see my baby back
inside the uterus. The doctor wanted to further confirm the miracle that God has performed
so he called the other five (5) doctors to confirm it.
I was admitted to the ward just for doctors' monitoring and observations.

While in the hospital, I have never been visited by my best friends, drinking mates,
sport mates, etc only Spirit-filled brethrens came and shared God's Word with me.
I continued observing the Revival Fellowship while in the hospital.
I was discharged from the hospital when I was seven months into my pregnancy.

I repented, got baptised by full immersion on 11th January, 1998 in Mt Hagen, PNG
and three (3) weeks later I received the Holy Spirit by speaking in tongues.
This is my seventh (7th) and final baptism and thirteenth (13) church.
Finally I found the True Love, Joy, Peace, and happiness that I have been searching for
in this world in the Word of God.
My husband or wanbodi got baptised on 8th February, 1998.

I gave birth to my son on 18th March, 1998 where five (5) doctors were monitoring me
at my bedside but thank God everything was possible through His plan, Love, Grace
and I delivered my son without any complications.
I give Praise, Honour and Glory to this wonderful, miracle working God who according
to His plan and purpose, saved my son and my life and extended our lives from 24 hours
according to the doctor's knowledge to today, 18 years.

Secondly, I did not go through the Emergency operation but I'm grateful and thankful
that I went through the Spiritual circumcision of the heart and received the Holy Spirit
so now I can worship God in Spirit and in Truth (Joh 4:23-24).
I thank God for blessing me with a loving, caring husband, Br. Michael Timi,
a son, Job Timi and a Spiritual big loving family of Spiritual brethrens.

Finally, I no longer scare of dying, I am looking forward for that day when the Lord
returns and call all His chosen faithful people home to rule and reign with Him forever, Amen

In Pentecost we stand on the promises of God in scripture and
thus we also enjoy the signs following them that believe - such as
they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover ...

In the Revival Fellowship we uphold Mark 16:15-20 and all in our
Pentecostal Fellowship are baptised in water and in the Holy Spirit
with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues.

Here is another testimony about being healed wonderfully, miraculously
by the power of God in our Revival Fellowship:
this testimony is by a woman I know named Saskia

Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a disorder in which the body's immune system
attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The first symptoms of this
disorder include varying degrees of weakness or tingling sensations in the legs.
In many instances, the weakness and abnormal sensations spread to the arms
and upper body.

"In October 2006 I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome, an
auto-immune illness which paralyses in everyway, requiring respiratory
support.
I was 29 weeks pregnant and needed to stay in hospital.
The paralysis started in my feet and began to travel up my legs."

"I prayed and said, 'Lord I don't want to not be able to breathe and talk.'
The paralysis stopped at my calves and within a few hours it was
completely gone and didn't return.
Two weeks later I rolled over in bed and my pelvis separated leaving
me in pain and bed bound.
After giving birth by caesarean section, my pelvis did not go back into
place and I was in more pain.
A number of doctors advised me that it would be at least six weeks before
I could walk again; plus another 3 to 6 months before I could expect to be
recovered."

"My family and I had lots of prayer in the Holy Spirit for God to heal me.
A few days later I was discharged from hospital.
Three days later I woke up to no pain at all; and I could shower standing up,
I could dress myself, walk up the stairs, carry my baby - all the things I
couldn't do the day before - I was now doing without pain."

"It was a miracle.
The Lord completely healed me overnight."

Saskia, Scott and the children are still in the Lord and attending our
sister Assembly in a nearby suburb.

In The Revival Fellowship, a fully Spirit-filled Pentecostal Church
wherein all our members are baptized in water and the Holy Spirit
with the Bible evidence of praying in a new tongue -
we are truly blessed by an immense number of testimonies to
miracles, healings, divine provision and blessings:

Here is a testimony to more healing by believing the truth of
the promises of God in the scriptures:

This testimony is from Nigel Rick, here in South Australia.
Nigel and his wife, Gaye, I have known for almost 20 years.

GOD HEALED MY MARRIAGE AND MY HEART CONDITION
Towards the end of 1977, our lives suffered a major upheaval when after nearly ten years
of marriage and two children, Gaye and I separated.
We tried on several occasions to reconcile our marriage, but found that the harder we tried
the worse things got.
Through a sequence of events I was placed in a position where I heard the full gospel
message.
I had always believed in God and that Jesus Christ was His son, but I had never seen or
heard of any evidence of His power in the churches that I had previously been associated
with.
I went to a meeting at the Vogue Theatre one Sunday afternoon without Gaye knowing,
and after encouragement from various people, I decided to get baptised because I could
see this was written in the Bible.
In my situation, I thought, what did I have to lose by giving it a go?
When I came out of the water I actually felt, for the first time in a long while, that I had
done something right.
An incredible peace came over me.
The following Sunday we attended the meeting at the Vogue Theatre as a family.

Two weeks later, I received the Holy Spirit with the Bible evidence of speaking in tongues.
About a week after that Gaye got baptised as well and she received the Holy Spirit herself
while we were praying together as man and wife, something we had never done before.

The healings, that we as a family, have received from the Lord, and the abundant blessings
on our business over the last few years, have been immeasurable.

We have been blessed to be involved in the Lord's ministry in Alice Springs [Central
Australia] for over ten years; and seen the changes in many people's lives because of
His never-ending grace.

During my time in Alice Springs I got very sick with pneumonia, along with heart failure
and atrial fibrillation in December 2003, and did not nearly make it to enter 2004.
Through the prayers of many people throughout our Fellowship I was completely healed
to the amazement of my doctors.
My heart has gone back to its normal size and is functioning well.
Praise the Lord!

In 2015, at the time of publishing this testimony, Gaye and I have celebrated our 43rd
wedding anniversary. Something which would not have been possible if it was not for the
Lord's intervention back all those years ago.

Nick and Gaye Rick, Adelaide, South Australia

I have a friend who is a Police lady and she had a friend who was pregnant and the Doctor said that she had to be operated. When my friend (the police lady) told me about the situation of her friend and how she would loved to bring her to my house so that I can pray for her and her son who was having a swollen body and sickly. I accepted her request. When they visited me in my house, I welcome them with joy and love. As they sat down, I started by telling them about the goodness and faithfulness of GOD, and how His Word never fails. After this, I gave a song and we all sang and praised GOD for His love, goodness, kindness and Who He is. After the praises, I prayed for them all and they went to their various houses. After some weeks, my friend (the police lady) told me how her friend gave birth safely without any operation and also how her son was healed from the swollen body and all the illness in him.
Her son who was sickly is now very strong and healthy.
GOD is Good all the time. HE is Faithful forever and ever.
Blessed be His HOLY NAME forever.

Waggles, I hope you're doing well,
I just want to point out one small issue.

If you're using the Testimony Forum for something way beyond a simple testimony,
and instead you're using it for Bible Study and for promoting a controversial issue...
you just can't expect to get a pass.

If you use the Testimony Forum to engage in BIBLE STUDY on a CONTROVERSIAL ISSUE...
then you have to expect people to come in here and debate your Bible study, just like anywhere else.

That's all.
Have a great weekend.

There is nothing controversial about healings by the power of God,
nor in laying on hands on people as you pray over them.
Christians have been doing this for centuries.

The BDF is the place for arguments and fruitless banter, but here in the
Testimonies Forum it is just that: testimonies to the wonderful blessings
that God bestows upon people in need.

All the postings are testimonies to what God has actually done for
people with needs in response to faith and prayer.

Post # 1 was to protect this thread from the BDF bullies who take
great delight in denying signs, wonders and miracles for today.

The first 4 posts, after the Opening Post, are NOT testimonies... they are all posts on doctrine to support your doctrinal position.

I fully support your desire to post whatever you like, with whatever views you like.
I support that.

I just don't think we get to create a thread which is just a long apologetic for a doctrinal view, place it in the Testimony Forum, and claim it's magically beyond reproach.

I support your right to post whatever you want.
But this thread isn't a personal testimony; it's a set of apologetic proofs for your doctrinal views.
And THAT kind of thing is fair game for debate.

That's all.

Have fun.

I've actually had the opposite happen, but whatever. God gives and takes away.
As far as illness, etc...the LOrd doesn't giveth....Satan does. The Lord will taketh away as we call upon Him. God is love. Love doesn't cause suffering.
