While I was out with my daughter having our mother's day dinner together, my daughter told me that one of her coworkers asked her what her favorite language was, and thought that an odd question for someone to ask her. We laughed at that, too, even though my daughter spent many years studying Japanese on her own, learning all three alphabets, and was able to understand the spoken and written language quite well, as well as speaking and writing it, too. She also eventually studied it officially in college for a year, and her final mark was 98.6. I was really proud of her for that; she'd had a terrible time in high school, and was really rather floundering afterward, not knowing what to do. All this came out of her love of manga
Also, I was brought up in a religious environment while the mass was performed in Latin.
I don't know about that becc. Steven King seems to play on phobias. I have long ago abandoned all mine. I get nothing from his films.

I studied French in school for a few years, it being mandatory at first, and I chose to carry on with it because I did quite well up to a point, but as they say, "Use it, or lose it." LOL. I was posting yesterday that I think I have an affinity for Latin because there are quite a few recordings I have been really quite fond of over the years that were sung in that language. It may have something to do with the songs largely dealing with spiritual and religious matters, too, that kind of set them apart from regular songs sung in any language. Songs sung in other languages don't grab me the same way

Horror is my least favorite genre for movies or fiction. I think it was Silence of The Lambs I was watching once, and the suspense was too much for me at one point, and I had to turn it off for a bit
I know that is not horror, just the horror of the human psyche twisted beyond what the rest of us find acceptable. It was the suspense tinged with the expectation of harm and disaster I could not stand. I cannot watch true horror films. They just freak me out too much. Some people find that one small potatoes compared to others, but for me it was and forever shall remain the ultimate spooky film, because I just don't watch that genre knowing how it affects me, but I did see that one when it first came out in the theaters I did enjoy Stephen King's The Stand, though. That was the first book of his I read 
After I read The Dead Zone, I asked myself, "Now why did I do that?" LOL 
Once I delve into a good book, it is hard for me to put it down

Oh the movie The Shining yeah no I could not stand it. The element of the supernatural added a layer to it that made it unbearable for me. I laugh to think to myself, yeah, I only like friendly ghosts, and then my thinking goes to the supernatural and how people think it is harmless to explore and it is all shiny and attractive and draws you in and people get sucked in thinking oh how cool is this when Satan is behind it all deceiving people. Oops. Detour
