Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.

(Matthew 4:10, kjv)

where is this exact quote in the old testament?
It's not exact. This is from the Septuagint (LXX). Just another sign that the LXX is what they used back then.

Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve; and thou shalt cleave to him, and by his name thou shalt swear. Deuteronomy 6:13

I heard that....as lawyers and Pharisees go...no ability to admit error.....ride that pride right to the flaming pit....
Biggest joke I ever heard right there. YOU stating someone is unwilling to admit error ? Your continued slander is an error. And your misquoting of the Bible and pretending it to be an actual verse was another error. How many times have you deceived people on here by doing that ? This time you were caught. Exactly what's aroused your anger so much.

what saddens me is i really do love the KJV

it is my favorite translation

and i personally believe it is a legit translation of Gods word

but i dislike this "kjvo" group....

it bums me out to see people act like this

not only have i seen brothers and sisters come to the truth with many translations (including the KJV)

i have seen many who stand by the KJV push doctrine that is NOT biblical....

God did a wonderful job preserving His written word....
You younger generation will try anything to divert from the subject matter. I didn't hear anybody here swearing by any KJV only. Regarding that verse he misquoted, I said he could not locate that exact writing he put forth in ANY Bible. And he has proven my statement correct as he has not shown it in ANY Bible. He cant, because it was his own words and it doesn't exist the way he wrote it anywhere in ANY Bible.

dc, do you really believe you are exhibiting the righteousness of Christ when you pour out slanderous language towards another ? Do you really think that is Christ living through you ? Try really answering this question, instead of simply avoiding it like you do with other questions.

Great post, dc!

I agree. While studying the scriptures, I was so excited when I began to see and understand that Jesus is the Human Fulfillment of the Law for me. He is my righteousness.

Jesus came to earth not just to die on the cross but also to fulfill all righteousness for all who would believe.

He was circumcised on the 8th day, about His Father's business at the age of 12, and began His ministry at age 30. Throughout His time on Earth, He was fulfilling all the Law and Prophets had said and spoken concerning the Messiah.

At the end of His 3 1/2 years of ministry, He went up to the mount of transfiguration where He was examined by the Law and The Prophets being Moses and Elijah. Jesus became transfigured because He passed His examination. He was now ready for His final Work to do - die on the cross, shed His blood as The Lamb of God for the remission of our sins.

He had fulfilled ALL the Works of the Law in His human body. Remember, John the Baptist didn't feel worthy to baptize Jesus and Jesus responded, "Suffer it to be, so that we might FULFILL ALL RIGHTEOUSNESS." Jesus got water baptized because we needed it. I don't completely understand, but somehow, everything we do - our "works" are recorded in our bodies. Jesus was recording in His Body ALL the Works of the Law as The Gift of Righteousness for us! All our "works" recorded in our bodies is "filthy rags of righteousness."

We needed more than His Blood, we needed His Righteousness, too, because even after His Blood cleanses us from our sins, the Law still MUST be fulfilled which we could NEVER do. So, Jesus did BOTH for us!

His Body is the Bread - His Human Fulfillment of Righteousness for us!
His Blood is the Wine - His Human Fulfillment for the penalty of sin!

Jesus Christ, our Savior, Lord and King be forever praised! Hallelujah! Amen.

A WORTHY SERVANT

“FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD"

Matthew 10:37-39 “Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and anyone who DOES NOT take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Ephesians 4:1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Philippians 1:27-28 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.

Colossians 1:10 And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Thessalonians 2:12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

Thessalonians 1:5-6,8,11 All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you HE WILL PUNISH those who do not know God and DO NOT OBEY THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS. With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you WORTHY OF HIS CALLING, and that by HIS POWER he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.

Titus 1:9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

Revelation 3:4 Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for THEY ARE WORTHY.

ARE YOU “WORTHY” OF SALVATION BY CLAIMING TO HAVE A FAITH “ALONE”? ONE THAT IS VOID OF WORKS OR WHICH IS A “DEAD FAITH” ACCDG. TO JAMES.

Matthew 25:20-21,24-30 The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you ENTRUSTED me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’ “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful SERVANT! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ “

Then the man who had received the one talent came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ “His master replied, ‘YOU WICKED, LAZY SERVANT! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. “‘Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that WORTHLESS SERVANT outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Yeah I have heard deacons, church members and even preachers say that Jesus and Paul taught out of the King Jimmy.....that is ignorance on a grand scale.....
It's the IMPACT of language usage which most newer translations have "watered down."

Take for example Ephesians 2:1 (KJV) "And you hath HE *quickened* who were dead in trespasses and sins." When you hear the word "quickened" you think "SHOCK" or a defibrillator. After all we're talking about the "POWER" (Acts 1:8) of the Holy Spirit making our spirits alive again right?

However Ephesians 2:1 (NIV) says "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins." Where's the "IMPACT?" OK! So we were dead but it's not giving "IMPACT" of the "POWER" of the Holy Spirit.

DRY!

Unfortunately that's what Christianity is coming to; DRY religion with no IMPACT from the Holy Spirit!

QUITE INTERESTING TO NOTICE THAT WHEN A PERSON SPEAKING THE WORDS OF GOD THROUGH THE SCRIPTURES, THEY EASILY GET MOCKED, INSULTED AND DISGRACED.

John 12:42-50 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved praise from men more than praise from God. Then Jesus cried out, “When a man believes in me, he does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. “As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”

John 15:20-25 Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘no servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’

Where did Jesus say "Jesus got water baptized because we needed it" when HE spoke Acts 1:5?

Where did Jesus say "...everything we do - our "works" are recorded in our bodies" when HE spoke Ephesians 2:8-9?

What are you all doing? IGNORING what JESUS SAID?

How did YOU decide what "the righteousness" was that HE "FULFILLED?"

It couldn't have been TO GIVE US AN EXAMPLE because John's baptism was one of "REPENTANCE; BELIEVING THAT JESUS WAS COMING" (Acts 19:4)!

Did JESUS "need" REPENTANCE?

Did JESUS "need" to "BELIEVE HE WAS COMING?"

WHY then would you say it was "THE SAME RIGHTEOUSNESS IMPUTED TO EVERY SINGLE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER?"

WHY DIDN'T YOU LET "SCRIPTURE "WITNESS" SCRIPTURE AS TO WHAT THE "RIGHTEOUSNESS" WAS THAT JESUS "FULFILLED?"

In Matthew 5:17-18 JESUS SAID "Think not that I've come to destroy the LAW, or the PROPHETS: I am not come to destroy, BUT TO "FULFILL." For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one JOT or one TITTLE shall in NO WISE pass from the LAW, till ALL be FULFILLED."

DID YOU HEAR WHAT JESUS SAID? EVERYTHING HE HAD SPOKEN OF IN THE OLD TESTAMENT THROUGH THE "PROPHETS"
HE WAS GOING TO "FULFILL" (II PETER 3:9)!

JOHN SAID IN JOHN 3:28 "You yourselves know how plainly I told you, 'I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him."

"PREPARING THE WAY FOR THE MESSIAH" WERE THE SAME WORDS SPOKEN BY THE PROPHETS ISAIAH (40:3) AND MALACHI (3:1) WHICH JESUS WAS "FULFILLING" BY BEING WATER BAPTIZED AND *NOT* "IMPUTING RIGHTEOUSNESS TO EVERY SINGLE BORN AGAIN BELIEVER."

YOUR BELIEF *MUST* BE "WITNESSED" BY SCRIPTURE!

ISAIAH 8:20 SAYS "IF THEY SPEAK NOT ACCORDING TO *THIS WORD* IT IS BECAUSE THERE IS NO LIGHT IN THEM.":(

DC...that's an impossibility. No one can believe that...the translation wasn't even written...

No, that is the TRUTH, many people thought the in 1700 - mid-1900s, thought that Jesus taught in English. That is where THE KJV IS THE ONLY INSPIRED VERSION OF THE BIBLE, got it's roots from. If fact there was SUCH OPPOSITION TO THE FACT THAT THE KJV TRANSLATION TEAM WOULD DARE TO UPDATE THE ARCHAIC EXPRESSIONS IN THE OLDER ENGLISH VERSIONS. THEY TOO THOUGHT THAT THEIR VERSION OF THE OLD ENGLISH BIBLES WERE AS INSPIRED, AND THERFORE NOT TO BE TAMPERED WITH, WHEN IT IS OBVIOUS TO US THAT THEY WERE ALL TRANSLATED FROM FOREIGN LANGUAGES.

Here is ONE MEMBER POSTS, who I will keep ANONYMOUS, who wanted to chastise me for using newer versions than the KJV, who actually stated:

I don't disagree that there is a corruption of the Word of God within Modern Translations. I believe the KJV to be the divinely inspired Word of God for our day (that is perfect) and that we have to be careful about Modern Bibles. I use Modern Translations to help update the Old English. To put it to you another way, I look at Modern Translations as if I am sifting to the dirt to get to the gold (Which can be found in the KJV, and the original Greek, and Hebrew). They can be helpful sometimes, but they are not my final word of authority. I believe that authority to be the KJV 1769 (1611).
Now here is the 1611 Translation Teams comments on the persecution and the severe chastisement that they DARE to update the older English BIBLES. NO THE SIMILARITIES between opposition of the KJV Translation Team, and the extreme Modern KJV ONLY people:

. . .
Now to the later we answere; that wee doe not deny, nay wee affirme and avow, that the very meanest {poorest} translation of the Bible in English, set foorth by men of our profession (for wee have seene none of theirs of the whole Bible as yet) containeth the word of God, nay, is the word of God. . . .
. . .
Yet before we end, we must answere a third cavill and objection of theirs against us, for altering and amending our Translations [sic] so oft; wherein truely they deale hardly, and strangely with us. {The very same thing KJV ONLY do to MODERN Translations.} For to whom ever was it imputed for a fault (by such as were wise) to goe over that which hee had done, and to amend it where he saw cause? . . .
. . .
But the difference that appeareth betweene our Translations, and our often correcting of them, is the thing that wee are specially charged with; let us see therefore whether they themselves bee without fault this way, (if it be to be counted a fault, to correct) and whether they bee fit men to throw stones at us: But it is high time to leave them, and to shew in briefe what wee proposed to our selves, and what course we held in this our perusall and survay of the Bible. Truly (good Christian Reader) wee never thought from the beginning, that we should neede to make a new Translation, nor yet to make of a bad one a good one,
. . .
but to make a good one better, or out of many good ones, one principall good one, not justly to be excepted against; that hath bene our indeavour, that our marke.
. . .

http://www.kjvbibles.com/kjpreface.htm

Like I said, the KJV was Not intended to be a new TRANSLATION, but rather an UPDATE of archaic expressions and known errors in Older English Translations. AND when they had to refer back to an earlier Bible in a foreign language, the Translation TEAM did not go back to the original languages, but choose instead to refer to LATIN TRANSLATION.

It appears that YOU think "to fulfill all righteousness" mean the "righteousness of water baptism."

Did you look at the Scriptures given? Isn't that the "righteousness" Jesus was "fulfilling?"

John's water baptism of "Repentance; Believing that Jesus was coming" (Acts 19:4) had NOTHING to do with a LITERAL water baptism.

Did Jesus "need" John's baptism?

Did Jesus "need" to "Repent?"

Did Jesus "need" to "Believe that HE was coming?"

That was John's water baptism and Jesus didn't "need" it so it couldn't have been for as to follow as "an example." John's water baptism was ONLY "righteous" UNDER THE LAW "...saying unto the people, to Repent, and believe Jesus was coming" (Acts 19:4).

Why are you still believing on the ONLY water baptism authorized by GOD which was one of "Repentance; Believing that Jesus was coming" (Acts 19:4)?

Is that where you are TODAY - "Repenting; Believing that Jesus is coming?" If you believe in water baptism, that's where you are.
