The creator God would not say to utterly destroy people, the Destroyer would.

You not look at this honestly, many Egyptians were killed in the Red sea crossing... They were trying to murder the Hebrew people... They had enslaved them and only let them go because Yah cursed them, even took their first born, then they changed their mind because they wanted revenge. True reprobates.

It was this Word which created the OT. Why did He do it?

1 Cor. 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Matt. 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

It was Jesus before He became Flesh that created these Spiritual examples for our admonition. They are Spiritual in nature and require a Spiritual understanding.

Joshua 6 is a wonderful story with amazing Spiritual significance. But this meaning isn't given to everybody as Jesus said.

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I don't believe the Spiritual intent of the Joshua story is to paint the Word which became Flesh as an unjust God. But many on this forum do just that.

I have a completely different take on the significance of Jericho and the trumpets and the 7 days, and the "walls" that came tumbling down. Not one that paints the Word which became Flesh as an unjust God.

No problems with what you say about the Egyptians, and no problem with the Israelites being God's chosen people and therefore under God's protection. Once safely across the Red Sea something seems to have happened and for 40 years they were faced with difficulties and disasters. God was there for them leading them and providing for them, but what were the Israelites doing?

A pattern is emerging where God loves the righteous and frowns upon the wicked.

God knows their hearts and we don't. This has gone on long enough and really we should be praising and thanking God for his mercies. If there are any lessons to be learnt from this, then let us apply them to ourselves, so that we might be a light unto the nations and bring glory, not dishonour as seems to have happened in the Old Testament, to His name. May God bless.

So if we want to be right with God would you kill someone believing it to be God's will, or would you say, "In the name of Jesus Christ get thee behind me Satan? What would you do?

You mean what were most of the Israelites doing, not all. The Path that The Word which became Flesh created is a narrow Path and there are few who choose to be on it.

At least according to Him.

They went to the promised land and sent spies in that all but one came back with reports that scared the Israelite. Joshua was the only one who said they could defeat them. God then punished them to be in the wilderness for another 40 years that included battles with other people. When Joshua was the only man of that time left they went back and conquered the promised land by first conquering Jericho.

There were and are the Remnant, that is true. Good for those who choose the narrow path.

The trouble with me is that I believe in a God of Miracles, a God who released the Israelites out of Egypt, A God who stopped the Red Sea, a God who provides, a God who opens doors and makes things possible without my intervention, and I believe in letting Him have his way in my life. He has protected me and kept me all my life for which I am truly grateful.
