I figure there were a lot of people in Ephesus (Revelaions 2) that thought they were saved until they got that letter from Jesus, and then they knew they were not. Glad they got that letter before they died, and then found out too late.
Stiring the candlestick out of it's place is indicative of losing authority as a church...and has nothing to do with salvation, neither does being spewed out of one's mouth!

Keep ignoring context, the timing of when that was said and all the verses that state, prove, alleviate law keeping by any man to obtain eternal salvation....that which deems guilt will NEVER SAVE OR JUSTIFY BEFORE GOD!
ElAmor

I thought you were saying that you will keep trusting Jesus but it seems like you are willing to reject Jesus teachings just to hold to your PRIDE....SUCH A SHAME AND ONLY PROVES HOW DECEITFUL YOU ARE.

Your group claims that your works and obedience are the results of your salvation,Do you now obey what Jesus taught in matthew 19:16-26? Or you would avoid, twist, misinterpret it or more likely resort to personal attacks, mockings and insults to divert the issue.

Since you really want me to leave this thread then do me a favor….BE HONEST!

dcontroversal

Think what you want worker for...we will see who gets entrance and who does not...you keep trusting yourself and your works....I will keep trusting Jesus and pointing to him, his promises and power....

Is it TRUSTING IN JESUS to consider Him as FALSE for teaching that “IF YOU WANT TO ENTER LIFE, OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS (matthew 19:17) and “IF YOU LOVE ME YOU WILL OBEY WHAT I COMMAND.(john 14:15)

….That Jesus is FALSE for being the author of eternal salvation for all who obey Him.( hebrews 5:7-10)?

Is it trusting in Jesus whenever you reject the Word of God (john 1:1-3 & 14, revelations 19:13, hebrews 4::12-13, 2timothy 3:15-17) His teachings, instructions and commands that does not agree with your manmade doctrine?

If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Maybe you are ready to answer my questions now.

What do YOU believe the true Gospel IS and what do YOU believe it means to BELIEVE the Gospel? -- Romans 1:16.

Have you PERFECTLY obeyed ALL of the commandments and do you believe that will be the basis by which you receive eternal life?

How do you answer the question in Acts 16:30, "What must I do to be saved?"

If you were standing at the gates of heaven right now and the Lord Jesus Christ asked you why He should let you into heaven, what would be your EXACT answer?

Amen, he was speaking about local churches, not induvidual people. He was talking about removing his power from that church so they lose their witness as people who are empowered by God and can actyually as a church produce fruit. He is telling the church to straighten up The church was in error. Not induvidual people within the church, it was basically a slam on the leaders. And the people who allowed those leaders to continue to do what they were doing.

Ephesians 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

Colossians 1:5 the FAITH and LOVE that spring from the HOPE that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel.

James 1:18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

Romans 10:8-18 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world

.”1 Corinthians 15:1-5 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 1:1-3,14 The Word Became Flesh In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 3:16-21 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.”

2 John 1:4-11 It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us. And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.

John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

Our Lord Jesus will save His BODY and not the individual.

IF YOU STILL DON’T GET IT, TEST YOURSELF IF YOU ARE IN THE FAITH BECAUSE;”The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.”1 Corinthians 2:14

BTW I AM ABLE TO OBEY BECAUSE; “For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that THE RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW MIGHT BE FULLY MET IN US, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.

Romans 13:8-14 Love, for the Day Is Near Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “Do not commit adultery,” “Do not murder,” “Do not steal,” “Do not covet,” and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

I have come to realize that if you see any good in me, it's because God has placed it there.

Left to my own devices, I am actually kind of mean, but God is working on me.

War is so ugly. Makes us look forward to a time when death gets cast into the eternal fire and we spend all our days with God, have Him wipe away all our tears.

I don't know how people without that hope make it through the day.

[QUOTEWhat do YOU believe the true Gospel IS and what do YOU believe it means to BELIEVE the Gospel? -- Romans 1:16.]
Good question! I know this was not directed toward me but i would like to answer it. The true gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ according to 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. And that is the only gospel according to Galatians 1:6-9.

As for the question of what does it mean to believe the Gospel, the answer is to OBEY the Gospel. True believers obey what they hear. How do you obey the Gospel? That is the same answer to your next question:
How do you answer the question in Acts 16:30, "What must I do to be saved?"
Peter gives the answer to this question to some others that asked the same question in Acts 2:37-38

Acts 2
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

This is what you must do to be saved. You must repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus, and receive the Holy Ghost. This is what it means to be born again. Being born again and obeying the Gospel are the same thing. Once you obey the Gospel, you have been born again!

[QUOTEIf you were standing at the gates of heaven right now and the Lord Jesus Christ asked you why He should let you into heaven, what would be your EXACT answer?]
I have seen this question several times and addressed it once already but i will address it again. This scenario will NEVER happen. It's a hypothetical situation. By the time you get to the gates of heaven, there is no question of whether you are getting in or not. God is not going to ask anyone why he should let them in. And even if he did, their answer would not determine whether they get in or not. Their obedience to the gospel is what determines that according to 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9.

1 Peter Chapter 1

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Hi ElAmor, God does not want a bunch of robots acting out His commands, He wants a love relationship with His children based on the blood sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. You have what I call a "Myopic View" of the bible, you are looking at the holy scriptures through the wrong end of telescope.

Your reasoning is faulty and your conclusions prove it so. Turn the telescope around and you will see the bible clearly. After watching your endless cut and paste on this thread month after month I cannot offer you any more wisdom than this, repent and be saved, God bless.
Do you believe that ElAmor believes in Jesus and has received the baptism of the HS and is saved?

All of the scriptures in your daily bump are absolutely correct! They tell the awesome story of redemption! They DO NOT say that you don't have to do anything to be saved. They do not say that you don't have to be obedient to the teachings of Jesus. You have to balance the Word of God to come up with the correct interpretation. God is love, be he is also the righteous judge. I won't take the time to do it, but I could post just as many scriptures that say that faith alone can never save you. I will give just one:

Titus 2:
11 - For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 - Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world

Grace is a teacher. It doesn't replace your responsibility to do something, it teaches you what you should do.

30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.

32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

12 - Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world
anyone who is born again and kept by the power of God who will continue in them

ought to understand these verses are a wonderful encouragement to how we should live

of course not for salvation

because it is not true that our works dictate wether or not a born again child of God is saved

the promises and power of God do

I have come to realize that if you see any good in me, it's because God has placed it there.

Left to my own devices, I am actually kind of mean, but God is working on me.

War is so ugly. Makes us look forward to a time when death gets cast into the eternal fire and we spend all our days with God, have Him wipe away all our tears.

I don't know how people without that hope make it through the day.
Well I am familiar with what happen to your home country and my view is you are God's miracle, and "God's Grace will lead you home" Amazing Grace, John Newton

"Amazing Grace" is a Christian hymn published in 1779, with words written by the English poet and Anglican clergyman John Newton (17251807). Newton wrote the words from personal experience.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Rev21:4

What food? this food.

John 6: Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me[g] has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed,[h]and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

even Peter understood what the food was.

But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”[i]

so ben, wqhen are you going to eat this food?
So to eat of Jesus's flesh and to drink of Jesus's blood is to simply come to him and believe in him? Well if that is what it means, then we have all come to him and believe in him, long ago.

So do you think the eating of the Lords Supper (Communion or Sacrament) is another unnecessary work and has no part in our salvation?

"Whoever 'eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life', and I will raise them up at the last day." John6:54

I would like to know also is benhur Catholic, normally Protestants refer to the bread and wine as "Communion" and Catholics refer to the elements as "Sacraments." If we know your Church association it is easer to understand your doctrinal positions.

I am still in recovery and am not able to read or respond to posts as I would wish to, thank you ljs and God bless.
May the Lord bless you in your recovery. I enjoy talking to a man and woman that are close to the Lord. Thank you.
