Because they now trust in Jesus Christ as the all sufficient means of their salvation. If someone claims to have repented, but they are still pushing works-salvation, then it’s obvious that they have not yet repented and do not believe the gospel.

Amen, you can tell a person has true faith by what they say and what they do. If people are sxtill talkin and acting like the world does (religion would be the world)
People who think tyhey can still earn salvation have not repented. That is clear.

Smh,

jesus said in john that one who believes will have eternal life, and one who believes is not condemned, no mention of baptism, he did not contradict himself in Mark or add a work to salvation and forget to say it in other places.

you do not make a gospel of the most important message given t mankind on one or two verses.

e...,

You are doing yourself and others, a dis service. That language was not addressing ...baptism...it was addressing the subject contained.
Suggest you look for language addressing baptism.

(why do I get this feeling that you do not want to know?)

if you really believe Christ you follow Him, Baptism is a symbol is a public declaration that you have been died to sin and raise to life in Christ(talking about spiritually) that's what I believe it is being obedient not any means of salvation but a part of it.People has its own opinion respect that it's your choice.

Yep..... as with repentance where we acknowledge G-d as our Creator before all mankind...we are baptized as the final part of the act of cleansing of sin......thereby acknowledging Christ as our Savior....before all mankind.

Wow! I didn't know there were final parts to the act of cleansing of sin. Seems like I recall Jesus said in John 19:30 on the cross "IT is finished".

Roman Catholics just pour water on the heads of infants to baptize them into the church. That is their version of salvation. Then you spend the rest of your life taking the sacraments to stay safe in the church.

Quite correct however many refuse to accept the finished work of redemption and wish to add to it.

Many indeed! (Matthew 7:22-23). Christ's finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save believers (Romans 3:24-28). No supplements needed.

why does every people wants and keep arguing and debating this is not a big deal ...example kjv translation even this baptism thing...God knows and he is control of everything we do not need to have a knowledge in order to please him with our own words and wisdom...why don't people just share the gospel,,,for sure there s a lot who does not know good news of Christ and the hope that's in him.But I'm not saying Im better than anyone/gospel is in urgency..we should go and make disciples

Understanding the difference between the true gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16) and the perverted gospel of salvation by works is a big deal! You can't make disciples out of people who REFUSE to BELIEVE the gospel.

then are sharing true gospel right now then?
The gospel is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16). To BELIEVE the gospel is to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation.

The gospel is a message of grace to be received through faith. The gospel is not a set of rituals to perform, a code of laws to be obeyed or a check list of good works (including water baptism) to accomplish as a prerequisite for salvation.

Surely you are not saying that if a person believes it is necessary to be baptized as a part of their acceptance of Jesus, they are somehow not saved? Or their faith is flawed?

Faith in Christ "plus baptism" or faith in Christ "plus some other work" is not faith in Christ alone. Acceptance of Jesus is signified in baptism, but to say that we absolutely must be water baptized in order to be saved "dipped or condemned" (without exceptions) is not the gospel.

D...,

LOL....You are a bit confused.

Christ's act is different from our required act. He was speaking of His assignment here on this earth...given to Him by The Father.

even if it is not required for salvation, it is required that we do it. Jesus said so..... it is our first act of obedience as believers.

That pretty much trumps all the "well, to ME, baptism is......" statements that can be made.

We are commanded to be water baptized and baptism is an initiatory response to the gospel of salvation. Water baptism is regularly associated with conversion and salvation, rather than absolutely required for salvation. These Gentiles in Acts 10 received the Holy Spirit and were manifesting the gift of tongues from the Holy Spirit after believing the gospel but before receiving water baptism (Acts 10:44-47).

Now baptism was not considered an "optional extra" for these Gentiles; it was a command (verse 48) that they were expected to obey. However, it was not obedience to this command that saved them, but their believing in Christ (verse 43).
