Do you think John 3:3 is talking about the kingdom of heaven where God is or do you think it's talking about the kingdom of heaven on earth (Matthew 11:12)?

That can not be verified.

In fact..... analysis of the word by word usage and inference strongly suggest that the thief was well aware of Christ and most likely was a backslider. His acknowledgement of Christ was a form of further repentance that Christ accepted.

Having said that I hasten to add that ......G-d can grant consideration of anyone for special dispensation at anytime.

Do you think the thief was studying the scriptures while he was doing whatever he did to deserve being crucified? The bible says we are are bon again by the incorruptible words of the bible... did the thief do that?

I get it that people don't understand what being born again means, it's hard to go against the things we've been taught all our lives.

I don't believe we have an answer to many questions related to that segment of occurrence.

I believe we are drawn to Christ by scriptures. G-d...through The Holy Spirit...brings us to relate to His word and guidance is derived from that experience.

"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God."

And not:

"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the word of living and eternal God." ?

If somebody with a deeper Greek knowledge knows.

It's in agreement with other scripture


Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart

This is going outside of the discussion, God isn't speaking his word to us today like he did to the original writers. The only word of God we have today is the written word.

I think it's both. Though the Bible is finite because it has to be in order to be given to us. There is something very deep about the word that transcends the obvious. We are fallen creatures but God is his word and we will still be discovering things about the written record he has given us in eternity.

I don't think knowledge of original languages would change anything.

He is not talking about accuracy of translation. He is talking about an inspired English text; in which even deviation from the original language mss used are inspired. Both King James' instructions to the translators and the translator's preface argue against this belief; but he believes it anyway.
