The theif on the cross was saved on the cross but he wasn't "born again" of the incorruptible WRITTEN word of God.
I disagree. The thief I believe was born again of the incorruptible word of God that he had heard. It doesn't necessarily have to be written as there has been thousands upon thousand people who were illiterate but believed the word of God they had heard. The acknowledged a belief in a great truth the Pharisees had rejected.
“And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.” (Luke 23:42)
How did he know this? He had obviously heard Jesus preach the "kingdom" and thus was born again of those words he had heard.
All we have to do to be saved is to call upon the name of the Lord, but we have to read the incorruptible seed to be born again because that seed literally is the Christ in us.
The requirements for each and the rewards of each. the requirement for being saved is to ask. The requirement for being born again is to read or hear the incorruptible word of God.Why do you see a disconnect with the notion of being "saved" and "born again?"
As long as you are convinced that the phrases "born again" and "saved" mean different things, perhaps because they are spelled differently - who knows - no rational argument will sway you!I have to stand on this verse until I can be shown differently. The words we read directly forms the Christ that's in us.I would welcome anyone to show something in the bible that ties born again and saved together. I'm not above correction.
1 Peter 1:23 King James Version (KJV)
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
I noticed you didn't use any bible verses to correct me.As long as you are convinced that the phrases "born again" and "saved" mean different things, perhaps because they are spelled differently - who knows - no rational argument will sway you!
I do leave you with this as food for thought: In English the phrases "fat chance", "thin chance", and "no chance" all mean exactly the same thing! How can this be? After all the words "fat", "thin" and "no" are in no way synonymous!
This sums up a lot of your interpretation of Scripture...
The requirements for each and the rewards of each. the requirement for being saved is to ask.
Paul was preaching to saved Galatians.
Because my intent was to convey a particular point about the way that you see language, and by extension Scripture.I noticed you didn't use any bible verses to correct me.
The NIV would work in that example - I'm a sinner and I need to be saved. That's not froming Christ in us, that's just letting us know our condition. The Christ in us which is the Christ that we believe in our minds comes SOLEY from what we read or have been taught aboutique Christ. How do you know what to ask for in you haven't heard first. In Acts 2 they hear Peter first before they were baptized in verse 41.
Paul was preaching to "bewitched" (Galatians 3:1) church goers who were following after another gospel of works. Galatians 4:19 is saying that Christ as yet to form in them even though Paul had previously labored by preaching them the true gospel.
The NIV would work in that example - I'm a sinner and I need to be saved. That's not froming Christ in us, that's just letting us know our condition.
No you can't be saved apart from Christ abiding in us but Chtist abiding in us is not what Paul is talking about in Galatians, he's talking about forming Christ, the image of Christ, in Spirit filled believers. Can you be saved apart from Jesus Christ abiding in you and you in him? (John 15:4) If Jesus Christ is not abiding in you to the fire you go! (verse 6) If Jesus is abiding in you he has obviously formed in you as Paul describes in Galatians 4:19. You are either part of the vine or not. If you are then you get the full benefit of the vine. If not not you get burnt.
These Galatians were Holy Spirit filled believers.
Galatians 3 King James Version (KJV)
3 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
I'm sorry but I just can't buy non-saved people have the Holy Spirit.“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:” (2 Thessalonians 2:13)
They were lacking in the second part of this statement. They received the spirit because the word of God is spirit but the key element of truth was lacking?
“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth” (Galatians 3:1)
“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” (James 1:18)
“Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” (James 5:20)
I wouldn't necessarily read into Galatians 3 that were saved in the true sense of the word.
No you can't be saved apart from Christ abiding in us but Chtist abiding in us is not what Paul is talking about in Galatians, he's talking about forming Christ, the image of Christ, in Spirit filled believers.
I see what you're saying but Paul specifically says he is travailing in birth.... that doesn't line up with a sprout looking more like the vine IMHO.That comes with time LOL. You start of as a little branch (a sprout perhaps) but as you grow you look more and like the vine. I think they Galatians 4 and John 15 are related in terms of Christ taking root in us but John 15 also says that we should abide in Christ as well and that means to obey the truth which the Galatians were not doing.
I'm sorry but I just can't buy non-saved people have the Holy Spirit.

It's not a big deal to disagree on this.![]()
