I just heard last week that my favorite Christian band, Third Day, is retiring for good after their farewell tour in June.
While this makes me very sad as a fan, I also give thanks for the 20-plus years of music they gave us and a great Christian witness.

What Christian bands or artists who have retired or passed on do you remember and what impact did they have on you? I can think of several bands, like Petra and Audio Adrenaline that I loved to listen to over the years.

I like Audio Adrenaline, PFR, Paul Colman Trio, Old peter furler/phil joel led newsboys they were good influences in my youth...and weren't afraid to say Jesus in their songs...unlike modern ccm where every band's lyrics are allergic to Jesus and you could substitute your significant other into the lyrics and it would sound just like a secular song....

I absolutely agree! I loved PFR and old Newsboys, too!

That is sad news indeed!:( They were very faithful servants in producing such wonderful praise and worship songs for so many years. I wonder what they will do now?

From what I read, singer Mac Powell and guitarist Mark Lee are pursuing solo careers and Mark wrote a book called “Hurt Road”, and drummer David Carr stepped away to concentrate on his family and photography. Bassist Tai Anderson retired a few years ago.

Mac Powell did a solo country album a few years back. I'm not sure if he's done anything since due to the fact that I abhor nearly all country music.

Pillar. Plus all the bands that are around but now what they used to be.

There's a new kind-of-a-Petra-album out, look up CPR - Back to the Rock II (Greg on vocals), also The Union of Sinners & Saints (John on vocals). Bob Hartman released an album recently and the original bass player is working on an album that will also have John on some songs.

My three favourite bands I miss are Petra, Petra, Petra. Coming in a close fourth would be White Heart!

I have Back to the Rock, I'll have to check out the newer one... I always loved Bob Hartman's guitar playing, I'll look him up too...

I'm not much of a country fan either, but Mac has a new country album out that he's touring for. I love his voice!

Oh wow, this is embarrassing to admit... but Jump5. I was a kid around the new millennium, and two friends and I actually won a talent contest for dancing to their song "Spinnin' Around". Nostalgia, for me.
