The problem is that is not a true statem,ent. There may be a small percentage of people in each generation that thought they were in the last day. However only this generation and the apostles did the church as a whole believe it was the last days, and this is the only gebneration every that even non believers believe were are truly headed for the end of days.
wow after reading half the posts in this thread I am honestly ashamed to ge the same religion as some posters. People saying its all Obama's fault and all that is ridiculous. Please keep your closeminded ignorance to yourself and keep your anti democrat bias off the site. Trust me, I dont think Jesus was a republican.
I ain't from the US, so I don't care about Democrats or Republicans ... but Barrack Obama is just a puppet and a great deceiver. He made a lot of promises and then did exactly the opposite of what he said he would do.

Without reading all the posts, I just want to share something I e-mailed to my cousin. She is one I believe is very knowledgable about the world events and Bible prophecy.
Last night my Turkish roommate (who has been nothing but kind, generous and actually protective of my financial situation and is going back to Turkey on July 30th) shared some information I did not know. First we talked about the Muslim Mosque that America is in opposition of because they want to put it on our sacred place – the 9/11 Ground Zero ground. Then Ozer changed the subject regarding the ban on burmas. Then, his communication turned to the very thing I had been wondering about their beliefs. I’ve learned a whole lot about his religion, but our conversation went political last night. The following I wanted to share (although I want be surprised that you already know):
1. Turkey motto “Peace in our country, Peace in the world” He says this motto is bill boarded and painted all over Turkey.
2. They believe in the End of Days/End Time and it is taught in the Quran. They believe in a “big fire” and that the “big fire” has already come on 9/11. (I told him that I believe there is a bigger fire to come) He told me “No that is the predicted “big fire” and that we are in the End Time.
3. He believes that a leader will rise in his country (Turkey) who “could be in power within the next 50 to 100 years or perhaps sooner,he says he does not know who will be the leader of all the Middle Eastern area, as well as Russia, Egypt, Greece” . He says they (those in his country) expect even sooner than that there will be country peace and peace on their borders soon. That the tension with Israel will end soon.
4. He told me that Muslim would be the religion demanded of all the world. (ie the “Anti-Christ” who they are expecting to come and make Christianity unlawful.) Yes, they will actually call the Anti-Christ by the name, “Anti-Christ”. (The Anti-Christ will not deceive anyone of this additional title “Anti-Christ”…..this man they readily expect…first I thought in our previous conversations that Ozer believed that their “Messiah” was to come and I thought they would be tricked….now I understand they will not be tricked into accepting the Anti-Christ, because this is the Messiah they are expecting to come in the Last Days.
5. He also told me several weeks ago in the beginning of our first conversations that the Quran teaches the “big sin”, which is to not believe in monotheism and that claiming Christ to be of God or God Himself is polytheism and that Islam is the only right faith. That Mohammed was the last prophet and God’s message was finished.
6. In our religion conversations, he believes that when he dies, he must first go to gahenna to be purified before he can go to heaven to be with God because no one is without sins. (Same in our Bible speaking of those who reject Jesus Christ and will be sentenced to ?? after they meet God in heaven.
7. He appears to be amazed of Christian and Muslim similarities. Perhaps first time to see and hear this, because they are taught many awful things about Christians (what they think awful I don’t know yet..hope we can have conversation again soon before he returns to Turkey to his wife and children and family).
8. He came with me to evening church two Sunday’s ago. All the songs only said “God and Lord”. I observed the only time Jesus name was spoken at the closing when pastor prayed “In Jesus Name”. When we left, Ozer was glad to see we “are same”.
9. Also, he told me that Arabic and Latin languages are being infiltrated into an acceptable language in Turkey right now. (Guess they’ll be able to read the OT Latin and the NT Greek since Greece will become part of their modified country.) Thus, they will have no excuses about being ignorant of Jesus Christ.
10. I, like you, believe in the Chosen, Called and Predestined. Every person, dead and/or alive, falls into at least one of those categories. We cannot be talking just about the “saved”, as Linda in the past conversation denied that there is any truth in this “erroneous belief” because how could God deny salvation to any person. No, it is God’s foreknowledge, the past, present and future of every person that ever breathed or was united with the sperm and egg, where at that moment of penetration and of joining, blood is present at that very moment.
Any suggestions of other topics on politics and religion that I might discuss with him?

Just some of my on observations and one additional comment Ozer made.
The comment shared was this: "Turkey is changing politically with the goal of modernizing to model the United Kingdom and that the people of Turkey have NO SAY in this change by the new leader(s).
My peresonal obervation:
I need to reread "Corrie Ten Boom" and how she was always upbeat while in the concentration camp. She knew the "Blessed Hope" and no matter what discomforts they were having "Never deterred her optimism".
I often sit on my patio and watch airplanes coming and going to and from our local San Antonio airport. Little planes, big bus planes, Fed Ex, all coming or going (to and fro). The frequency of the incoming and outgoing is around 5 minutes. Many times observing two and three planes in the part of the sky I see from my view.
My cousin who has travelled much of the world, calls the airport security checks "the airport Nazi's".
As for the government concentration camps or so it appears what this will be...I too have seen those documentaries. There does seem to be a preparation for something. As far as worrying about your children starving, you keeping the faith of the Blessed Hope, remember God's promise. I allow my imagination run on thinking good things, such as miracles. Could God use your own unnourished body to miraculously produce milk to feed your children...regardless of age? God knows our hearts and desires, so knowing and knowing and knowing this, if we keep our eyes and hearts on Jesus we will not be taken down to sink in the midst of the storm. (Rember the disciples crossing the sea and the mighty storm that they encountered and thought was going to destroy their boat and them? Then Jesus approaching walking on the water? The dsciples were scared and said it was a ghost approaching. Then when Peter saw it was Jesus, he asked Jesus to bid him to come. Peter stepped out of the boat in the midst of the intense storm and walked toward Jesus and walked on the water. Then Peter took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the turmoil of the sea and BEGAN TO SINK. Jesus took Peter's hand and Peter did not drown. What I glean from this is that when we take our eyes off Jesus and look at the storm, we become frightened and scared of what is around us. So I pray that I will always remember that in the midst of the trials and tribulations to not take my eyes off of Jesus and the Blessed Hope never claiming a day or hour of His return, because like the PWO's endured years of imprisonment, survived whatever amount of time they were captured, tortured, starved, etc. because they kept their mind focused on whatever was the most important to them. They found a way to mark the days and months and years....this was time to them, otherwise they could not discern time. Like the dead, they sleep and no not time. When they are made alive, will they not know how long they slept and like the children who fall asleep in the car, arrive home asleep, taken to bed, dressed for bed, kissed and then continue to seep only to awaken knowing where they are.
These thoughts are peace (and found in the Bible of God's and our Lord Jesus promises). I want to start memorizing the promises so they will be engraved on my heart, because God does not lie and He knows the desires of our hearts.
May we all obtain peace for today and tomorrow, no matter what the time or situation may be.

No one said he was. Though the joint attacks of republicans/christians on democratic leaders is fairly disappointing.
Personally I disagree with 90% of what republicans/conservatives stand for, but I dont run around calling Palin a false teacher and destructive person. Though I will say the blind devotion of most outspoken Christians to the conversative political movement causes me a lot of personal struggles with christianity as a whole.

I disagree with their stands on the economy, the environment, most social issues, and foreign policy. I don't agree with them on separation of church and state. Their view of capitalism only supports a paradigm of rich getting richer and really pays no attention to lower and middle class citizens. I believe that people who earn more should be taxed more. We are a nation of too many different cultures to be a Christian nation. While we may not agree with other religions the US should not adopt one religion as its basis regardless of how true it is, simply because it would be a disservice to the multitude of non believers in the country. Like even if you don't agree with homosexuality they should at least be able to have the same rights as other couples even if it is only in the form of civil unions. This will probably get me flamed but abortion should be legal. I dont think it's right but its not my place to judge others if its their choice, only God's.

then the least you can do regarding the issues of Homosexuality, Abortion and Adultery is to Not promote them.
You should enjoin good and forbid evil. Love what pleases God and Hate what displeases Him. Promote what is lawful and forbid what He has made unlawful.
summing it up, You should be more worried about pleasing God than pleasing society. once you shift the focus and seek more to please society rather than God ... you will consciously or unconsciously end up compromising your religion.
