Should I resent God that I was born in the Philippines?

Because the Philippines is a poor nation because it is rife with crimes, illegal drugs, political divisions, colonial mentality, crab mentality and political corruption.

I wish that I was born in a progressive countries such as Japan, France or the US.

It is misfortune to me that I was not born in a progressive country.

Salvation is not dependent on worldly wealth.
And progressive countries have their many problems too.
In many ways it is harder to preach the gospel of salvation
where people are affluent and think they have no need for
God's provision.

But all is not lost - in the Philippines there is wonderful Pentecostal revival
where God is providing an abundance of miracles, healings and blessings
to uplift his people; and to help them live better.

Japan has a high suicide rate due to cultural demands. It is infamous for suicide. Not to mention the degradation of women and sexualization of children.
America is divided by race and politics and even has had an increase in violence in general, including murdering police in cold blood. We see headed towards civil war. Not to mention huge numbers of students go hungry, middle class kids.
I don't follow France because, well, it's France. Bleh.

My point is these other countries may seem wonderful but there a lot more problems than you realize.

If you where born in ""progressive France"" ( as you call it ) the chances are you would have been brought up in a very atheist anti Christian culture and you probably would see no need for God.. But since you where born in the Philippines in a nation where you experience hardships with a history of hardship you where born into a society that feels the need for the help of God oi their lives.. So the material blessing of being born in France would probably have turned out to be a spiritual curse.. While the material curse of being born in the Philippines has turned out to be a spiritual blessing to you..

How long does material blessings last? for a life time..
How long do spiritual blessings last.. Prenatally for eternity if they are held onto..

I will answer your title question that you do not have to resent God for being born here. When i was small and using foreign books in school, oh how i dreamed abt winter spring summer and fall-- and all. but when i had the chance to go abroad, i was like thinking it's more fun in the Philippines, and do not even look fwd to staying long or getting lost in a progressive country that may be too cold or have more turmoil than my own that i did not know abt. I'd rather be lost in Baguio city or some other local place and still feel at home=). While we have many "setbacks," i do know our country is progressing in many other ways. As some are saying here, there are problems of the affluent that you wouldnt want either. Perhaps it is in being content with what God gave.. and contentment is of course a process also where we learn gratefulness and not seeing the grass greener beyond our fence. You can work or visit other countries, but as a local song by Gary V says, Magbabalik ka rin!

I disagree. Human will is much more evident on Earth. However, God hears the cries of all who suffer and offers them salvation. You have an opportunity to be a light in that darkness. The greater the darkness, the more welcome the light. Shine bright! Be thankful that God has opened your eyes so you may lead others to His Glory.

Yep! I agree with you about corruption,crimes and others..sad truth but it is happening in my beloved country...and yeah I also agree with you that those countries are wonderful but let me share you a little bit from an old lady who works abroad for almost 12 years now...



Jameen, I was born in a place where we used lamp in the night,used firewoods to cook our food and sea sand to brush our teeth yep it was really really hard while I was growing up...


We grew up very poor ...lacking in everything but as a child I never imagined leaving my hometown or the Philippines.


But when I was in my 20's seeing the surrounding...I dreamed for a better life for my family...this dream drove me to work abroad...leaving behind my family was hard but I have to because if not my siblings won't be able to go to college... my salary in Philippines was enough only to feed myself...Leaving Philippines was the only option I've got...but I never resented about my country about the people about my life in Philippines... I love my country...the people I will never stop seeing the beauty and how blessed the Philippines is I will always be proud that I was born a Filipino... I am always thankful that I am a Filipino and in my heart there is no place like home...your beloved homeland and mine..The Philippines ❤

Well if they have faith in their religious sect and it lets them down and they lose faith in their religious sect then it cannot be said they lost faith in God because their faith was never in God.. It was in their religious sect.. Sadly there are a lot of people like that..

I know our country is progressing. in fact it is one of the fastest growing economies. the problem here is the fruits are not well distributed nationwide. in reality a lot of people are struggling in life. a lot of people testify that life is still hard in the country

I myself who came from a middle class family saw how hard life in the Philippines. I saw that it is hard to find job, you cannot save a lot for your future family unlike my Chinese teacher friend who was able to save up to million yuan in the bank to the point that she can buy a nice apartment. there are also importunate demands in job applications nationwide.

I sometimes question God, why the Chinese are more fortunate than than the Filipinos? Why God allowed that mostly atheist China to become progressive than our country?

It is not only progressive in the news. People in China also experience the fruits of progress just like my Chinese teacher friend who can buy a nice apartment and save millions but our teachers in the Philippines are destitute to the point that they cannot save enough.

I find it rare for Filipinos to be proud of their country despite some of them came from humble beginnings and the country is not really something to be totally proud of.

I know most of them according to my experience prefer to be a naturalized citizen of the most powerful and richest nation on earth in order to get a better life for their loved ones.

I do hope that before I die I will be able to see a progressive and disciplined Philippines like some the Old Chinese who lived during the days of Chinese Civil War and Cultural Revolution but saw the present China's progressive, powerful and influential status.

I think we should fix our home instead of condemning and disgusting it. besides it is really one of the most beautiful nations in Asia Pacific (look at the beautiful natural landscapes, good beaches and good foods and remove the drugs, crimes and corruptions)

Yes, there is unequal distribution of wealth, but so in many other countries-- incl. China! Your friend happens to have acquired more than others, u say, but there are still a lot of poor in china, di ba? It is a fact that the chinese filipinos are often more affluent, but is that also being more fortunate? I know the Christian filipino chinese are also quite generous people, as well as having some cultural and work attitudes that are very different from the common filipino. I cannot answer why God allowed mostly atheist china to be more progressive than us.

Some yrs ago, there was a Philippines for Jesus Movement (PJM) prayer gathering i went to, and they explained how very rich our country is in natural resources etc. It is our shortcoming that we have not learned to be good stewards of God's bounty. We are not technologically advanced, or if we do have technology, this isnt used fully. A large chunk of the population is still superstitious, very traditional in thoughts and ways, and resisting progressive change... mostly the renewal of the mind that knowing Christ brings. Perhaps our mindset makes the difference, for we can work towards that progress and prosperity we long for one person at a time... but more so when we are united. We can start being united in prayer now?

I do know filipinos who are proud to be filipino and stay put, loyal to God and country. There are opportunities to 'get rich' in our country, but richness isnt just material as u well know. I know those who choose not to be naturalized citizens of other countries, for they still love their native land.
