TrustingGod4life,
re: "So just to be clear it is Friday sundown?"

Depends of what day of the week you're calling Friday. In much of Europe and other parts of the world it's the 5th day of the week, whereas in the U.S. it's the 6th day of the week.

They broke bread every day:

Acts 2:46

English Standard Version
And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,

New American Standard Bible
Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,

King James Bible
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

New International Version
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,

New Living Translation
They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity-
they worship together in the temple every day, and meet at home for the Lord Supper, not only in sabbath, It mean every day alike.

Friday is still the 6th Day of the week it does not matter what country. So yes Friday sunset to Saturday Sunset is the true 7th Day of the week Sabbath.

The European week day numbering change was introduced in 1971 (wiki European ISO week) but the week day numbering system from the Gregorian Calender has always been Sunday as the 1st day of the week to Saturday being the 7th Day of the week (wiki Names of the days of the week).

This corresponds with the Hebrew Calander system which also has Saturday as the 7th Day of the week (wiki Hebrew Calander)

Hope this is helpful.

I just have a question. I have always been taught to not keep the sabbath. But as I have been reading Gods word I see he never said DONT keep it. My question is, how are suppose to keep the sabbath exactly? And what day? I know the Jewish culture said Friday night to Saturday night?. Just trying to understand and be obedient
Hello TG4L,

BIG Welcome to the thread. So nice to meet you here. Great questions BTW.

You are correct there is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says God's 4th Commandment has been abolished and we are now Commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day.

Sunday worship is a man made traditions that has been introduced and handed down to Christianity by the Roman Catholic Church.

Yes you are correct here Friday sunset to Saturday Sunset is the true SEVENTH DAY SABBATH according to God's Word. This is God's time as the scriptures say...

Genesis 1
4,
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5, And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. (ASV)

This corresponds with the Hebrew Calander system which has Saturday as the 7th Day of the week (wiki Hebrew Calander)

The Sabbath was made on the seventh day of the creation week...

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2,
And ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made.
3,
And GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY, and made it HOLY <the 7th day>: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

RESTEDH7673שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.
to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}[a primitive root]KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep Sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

Some points to note from the scriptures...............

v1
God completed creation in 6 days and RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY
v2
God RESTED on the SEVENTH DAY
v3
God SET APART the SEVENTH DAY and made THE SEVENTH DAY a HOLY DAY
v2
The SEVENTH DAY is part of the FINISHED WORK of the CREATION WEEK

Let's now look at God's 4th commandment............

Exodus 20
8,
Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day
9,
Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
10,
But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
11,
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH <DAY>, and HALLOWED IT.

SABBATH H7676 שַׁבָּת shabbath
(shab-bawth') n-e. 1. intermission, a period of temporary rest.2. (specifically) the Sabbath, the SEVENTH DAY being the day of rest.[intensive from H7673]KJV: (+ every) Sabbath. Root(s): H7673
Yep God makes it very clear in Genesis 2:2-3 and also in Exodus 20:8-11 that that SABBATH = SEVENTH DAY
The Sabbath was made for all mankind as a memorial of creation

Mark 2
27,
And he said unto them, THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN AND NOT MAN FOR THE SABBATH:
28,
Therefore the Son of man is LORD ALSO OF THE SABBATH.

God's Sabbth is the "LORD'S DAY" not Sunday as some people proclaim

Matthew 12:8
8,
For the Son of man is Lord even of the SABBATH DAY.

Looking at all the scriptures above the Sabbath is a HOLY DAY which the 4th Commandment says NO WORK is to be done on this day. All work including shopping and any business activities and transactions are to be completed before Friday sunset when the Sabbath begins.

Building on these scriptures above...............

In the NEW testament Jesus teaches us that it is lawful to do GOOD on the Sabbath (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56) and we are not to be budened by man made teaching around God's Sabbath because the Sabbath was made for mankind to be a delight not a buden.

Jesus is our example who kept the Sabbath as well as all those who followed him (Matt 12:1-8; 10-12; 24:20; Mark 3:1-5; Luke 6:1-10; 13:14-16; 14:1-5; John 7:22-23; 9:14; Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; 31; Luke 14:1; 23:56; John 2:6; Matt 16:24; Acts 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10)

Jesus taught that he was the maker and creator of the Sabbath and the God of creation (Hebrews 1:2; John 1:1-3; 14; Ephesians 3:9; Colossians 1:16-17; Mark 2:27)

Hope this is helpful. May God bless you as you continue in His Word.

............

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

The Old Wine is the Mosaic Law which if we try to enter Heaven by is Death to us all.
The New Wine is the Gospel of Jesus Christ in whom if we believe we will go to heaven of God's Grace.
Hi Roadkill, yep this is true.

Also here is another way of looking at the same. The Old and NEW Wine represents the Old and New Covenant (WINE) it is the bottles that are the problem in the OLD and NEW Covenants not the WINE because all were saved in the OLD and NEW Covenants in the same way and that is by FAITH!

It is the OLD bottles that could not take the NEW Wine. Wheather we are talking OLD Covenant or NEW Covenant each BOTTLE has to be NEW and not OLD

OLD Bottles represent sinful man (Jeremiah 13:12-16; 19:1, 10-11)
NEW Bottles represent born again man (Psalms 119:83; 1 John 3:9; Matthew 3:5-7)

May God bless you as you continue in his Word...

1 John 2:1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Hi 3M, absolutely this scripture highlighted is a test to know if someone is from God or not. It matches well with 1 John 3:6-8 and Proverbs 28:9. Thanks for sharing.

and, as usual, you blind guides quote 1st John 1, and fail to keep reading where John explains the commands are to believe in the name of the Son, and love one another. not keep the Sabbath.

There is nothing out of place my friend. Once again you leave out the CONTEXT which is breaking God's 10 Commandments is SIN and those who SIN do not KNOW God (1 John 3:4-10).

The blind guides are those who break God's Commandments and teach others to do so.

Only God's Word is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW Him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE. Those who practice SIN and do NOT BELIEVE God will have NO part in God's KINGDOM.

in the first 2 chapters of 1st John, John talks about keeping commands, then in chapter 3, he explains what those commands are. you say this is not context. you will conjoin 20 verses out of 5 different books , writing your own commentary as you go, and call that context. I call that wrong.

If you are stopping short with only believing you fail to move foreward and have not succeeded yet in reaching the end. 'Believing is a start....not the end and see scripture what position that holds you in Jas 2v19. That should 'spur you on to move on as fast as you can...or are you happy to have a place with devils ???
To walk in the steps of Jesus we keep Sabbath ....devils don't ! let that be your next step ! it's really simple for the humble and obedient...not so for the rebels who refuse to bow their knee and head to Christ.

Well that is not true whatsoever. You leave out CONTEXT and 1 John 3:23 and seem to be confused as to what SIN is.

Let's take a look at the scriptures and the CONTEXT of 1 John 3:23....

WHAT IS SIN?

James 2
8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well:
9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, YOU ARE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF GOD'S LAW

James is pretty clear if we brake ANY of God's Law (10 commandments) then we are a TRANSGRESSOR of God's LAW

links to...........

1 John 3
4 Whosoever commits SIN transgresses also the law: for SIN is the transgression of the law.
John is in agreement with James and states that if we TRANSGRESS God's LAW then we commit SIN because SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF GOD'S LAW. So it is very clear that SIN is breaking ANY of God's LAW (10 commandments)
Links to...........

Romans 7

7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known SIN, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Well here we have Paul in agreement with James and John also telling us that SIN is breaking God's commandments and uses the 10th commandment as an example of breaking any of God's LAW (10 commandments) = SIN (Exodus 20:17)

Links to............

Romans 3

20, Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: FOR BY THE LAW IS THE KNOWLEDGE OF SIN.

Once again Paul is in agreement with John and James which all agree together that if we break any of God's LAW (10 commandments) we commit SIN because as James, John and Paul all agree together that SIN is breaking ANY of God's 10 commandments.

God's Word defines SIN in breaking God's LAW; Now that we have the definition of Sin from God’s WORD let’s connect some of the scriptures and look at the CONTEXT you have left out of your interpretation of 1 John 3:23 starting at the beginning of 1 John 3.

1 John 3
3,
And every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
4, Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for
SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF GOD'S LAW.
5, And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6, Whosoever abides in him
SIN<breaks God's LAW> not: whosoever SIN<breaks God's LAW> hath not seen him, neither known him.
7, Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous
<Psalms 119:172 All your commandments = RIGHTEOUSNESS>.
8, He that commits
SIN<breaks God's LAW> is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9, Whosoever is born of God DOES NOT commit
SIN<breaks God's LAW>; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot SIN<breaks God's LAW>, because he is born of God.
10, In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.
11, For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
12, Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
13, Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
14, We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not his brother abides in death.
15, Whosoever hates his brother is a
murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Some key points..........

v4.
SIN = Breaking God's Commandments
v6. Those who knowingly break God's commandments do not know God
v7. Don't be DECEIVED only those who DO NOT break God's commandments are is RIGHTEOUS as HE IS RIGHTEOUS
v8. If you are living in a life of KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN you are following the DEVIL and not GOD (Acts 17:30-31; Heb 10:26:27)
v9. If you are BORN OF GOD you will NOT practice SIN
v10. LOVE AND OBEDIENCE to GOD'S LAW SHOW WHO ARE GOD'S PEOPLE and DISOBEDIENCE TO GOD'S LAW SHOW THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL
v15. Example of the 7th commandment (Exodus 20: 13) being broken. Those who brake God's LAW and SIN DO NOT have ETERNAL LIFE

Links to what Jesus says in Matthew..............

Matthew 7
21,
Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; BUT HE THE DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN <FAITH THAT WORKS BY Love and OBEDIENCE>
22, Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23, And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU <1 John 3:6 = has not seen him or known him because they break God's LAW and practice SIN>: DEPART FROM ME YOU WHO WORK INIQUITY (SIN)

So once again it is very clear the CONTEXT of 1 John 3:23 is discussing the breaking of God's LAW (10 Commandments) even using the example of murder in v15. The same deinition of SIN which is breaking God's LAW (10 Commandments) is repeated by PAUL, JAMES AND JOHN who all agree that SIN is breaking GOD'S 10 Commandments.

SO in Summary NO my friend you leave out the CONTEXT of 1 John 3:23 which is talking about SIN which PAUL, JAMES and JOHN all agree is breaking GOD'S LAW (10 Commandments)

.................

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Sorry to have offended you...I was simply quoting scripture. But your failure to accept some scripture and not others shows a lack of understanding the whole.
The problem is not with what John says but what James says. I say John is right in pointing people to the essential first step of BEGINNING of BELIVING ....it is not meant to stop there, can you not see it puts you on the same level as devils ? that applies to everybody, me and you...it's what I'm saying...I don't mean to be nasty...but true.

John said to believe in the name of the Son, and love one another. John said to love in deed and truth. loving others means doing good works for them.

true believers will have good works. I have never said that they will not. but, that does not change the fact that keeping the Sabbath has nothing to do will salvation.

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

i said you just pluck out chapters and verses and conjoin them, writing your own commentary. you say this is not true. then you proceed to do just what you told me I lied about you doing. wow.

We have just looked at how God's Word defines SIN (Breaking God's 10 Commandments) and have shown that the CONTEXT is missing from your interpretation of 1 John 3:23 which is about SIN and how those practicing it do not KNOW God (1 John 3:3-15). Now lets look at the scripture you quoted and do a word study on BELIEVE and LOVE....

1 John 3
23, And this is his commandment, that we should BELIEVE IN THE NAME OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST, and LOVE ONE ANOTHER, even as he gave us commandment.

What does the scriptures teach about BELIEVING IN THE NAME OF JESUS and what does it mean to LOVE ONE ANOTHER?

1. BELIEVING IN THE NAME OF JESUS

Matthew 1
21
, And she shall bring forth a son; and thou shalt CALL HIS NAME JESUS; for he shall SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS

His name shall be called Jesus because he will save his people from their SINS.... Therefore the scripture says JESUS = SAVIOR

Jesus is God's WORD......

John 1
1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2, The same was in the beginning with God.
3, All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4, In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5, And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6, There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7, The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8, He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9, That was the true Light, which lights every man that cometh into the world.
10, He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11, He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12, But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13, Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14, AND THE WORD BECOME FLESH AND DWELT AMONG US, AND WE BEHELD HIS GLORY, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

1Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.

John 14
6, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Matthew 1
21,
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

John 3
16
, For God so LOVED the world that he gave his only begotten son that WHOSOEVER BELIEVES on HIM SHOULD HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE

Matthew 4
4,
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.

John 17
17,
Sanctify them through thy truth: THY WORD IS TRUTH.

Psalms 119
11, YOUR WORD
have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

2 Peter 1
4,
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
John 8
31,
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33,
They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how say you, Ye shall be made free?

Let's put it all together...........

We are to LIVE by EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD (Matthew 4:4);

IF we CONTINUE IN HIS WORD THEN ARE WE HIS DISCIPLES and we shall KNOW the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall set us FREE from SIN (John 8:31-32; 34;36).

We are made HOLY BY THE WORD and ONLY God's Word is TRUTH (Psalms 119:172); We are BORN AGAIN by FAITH in the WORD

What is all this leading to, can you guess...............................

JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD the power of creation (John 1:1-14; Genesis chapters 1-2). EVERLASTING LIFE IS GIVEN TO THOSE THAT BELIEVE EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.

THE NAME of JESUS means SAVIOR (Matthew 1:21). We are BORN AGAIN as we BELIEVE GOD"S WORD. JESUS meaning Saviour means that THE WORD OF GOD IS JESUS AND THE WORD OF GOD ARE ONE AND THE WORD IF GOD IS OUR SAVIOR AS WE BELIEVE IT! FAITH IS THE VICTORY!

To BELIEVE on the LORD JESUS MEANS TO LIVE BY FAITH IN EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD! IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD YOU DO NOT BELIEVE in JESUS because HE IS THE WORD OF GOD! JESUS IS THE WORD AND THIS IS WHAT WE ARE TO BELIEVE.

Next we will look at what it means to LOVE in 1 John 3:23......

......................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and like any of the ten, if we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

There is not one scripture in ALL of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to worship God on Sunday in it's place.

Continued..........

We have just looked at CONTEXT of 1 John 3:23 which is about SIN that God's Word descibes as breaking God's LAW (10 Commandments). Then we have started looking at the scripture itself in regards to what it means by BELIEVING in the NAME of JESUS now lets look at the final part of the scripture which is in regards to LOVE....

1 John 3
23,
And this is his commandment, that we should BELIEVE IN THE NAME OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST, and LOVE ONE ANOTHER, even as he gave us commandment.

What does the scriptures teach about LOVE?

LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF GOD’S LAW

You cannot separate God’s Law of love from the 10 commandments because they are connected to each other. There is no need for confusion here. God’s Word makes it very clear.

Let's have a look................................................

What does Jesus say when he talk about the commandments. Jesus is quoting from Old testament scriptures of Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18.................

Matthew 22
36, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38, This is the first and great commandment.
39, And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40, ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

Let's get clearer......................................................

Matthew 19
16, And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17, And he said unto him, Why call thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: BUT IF YOU WILL ENTER INTO LIFE KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
18, He saith unto him, WHICH? JESUS SAID, THOU SHALT NOT MURDER, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, HONOR YOU MOTHER AND FATHER AND THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF
20, The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21, Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. <Jesus showed him that he may have fulfilled His duty of love to his neighbor but not to God breaking commandment 1 and 2 loving riches more than God>

Well Jesus makes it very clear that what he is talking about it is the 10 commandments of God's Law.

What about James................................................................

James 2
8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF, ye do well:
9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10, FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL KEEP THE WHOLE LAW AND YET OFFEND IN ONE POINT, HE SHALL BE GUILTY OF ALL.
11, FOR HE THAT SAID, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY SAID ALSO DO NOT KILL. NOW IF YOU DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY AND YOU KILL, YOU HAVE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF GOD'S LAW.

12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Well James makes it very clear what he is talking about when he talks about the Royal Law of love. He is talking about the 10 commandments. So Jesus and James both agree that they are talking about God's 10 commandments which also include the 4th commandment which is one of the ten.

What about Paul? He wrote a lot of books in God's Word...........................

Romans 13
8, Owe no man anything, but to LOVE ONE ANOTHER: for HE THAT LOVES ANOTHER HAS FULFILLED THE LAW.
9, For this, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and IF THERE SHALL BE ANY OTHER COMMANDMENT, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.
10, Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF THE LAW.

Paul makes it very clear what he is talking about as well when he is talking about God's Law. It seems like Jesus, James and Paul all agree together what it is they are referring to when talking about God's Law. They are all referring to God's 10 commandments which includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:1-17)

So now that God's Word shows us what it is referring to. No need to guess, what are talking about, God’s Law of Love is God's 10 commandments. It is only through Faith that works by love that anyone can walk in the Spirit which produces the fruit of obedience because love is the fulfilling of God’s Law in those that walk by faith and not by sight.

Now let's look at the CONTEXT of the scripture you quoted from 1 John 3:22. Lovely scripture by the way.

1 John 3:22
23,
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and LOVE ONE ANOTHER, as he gave us commandment.

Now as we have seen above God's LAW (10 commandments) through LOVE is the fulfillment of God's LAW who have FAITH. Now is that the same for this scripture here in John?

Let's look at the CONTEXT of 1 John 3:23...............

1 John 3
3, And every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
4, Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5, And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6, Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him.
7, Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8, He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9, Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
15, Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

So it looks like Jesus, James, Paul and John all agree together so it is unanimous that God's Law (10 commandments) are all tied to LOVE which is the power of God unto salvation through Faith. The FRUIT of FAITH is OBEDIENCE and the fulfilling of God's LAW in the hearts of those who walk by FAITH in the SPIRIT (Romans 8:1-4)

So my friend the FRUIT of FAITH is OBEDIENCE to God's LAW (10 commandments) If you have no FRUIT then you need to be aware that your tree will be CUT DOWN. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:26-27; 31)

Your building your house on siftnig sand and great has been the fall of it. Please this should be a wake up call to you to help you find your way to Jesus. If you reject God's Word you reject God's call to help you.

SIN will keep all who practice it OUT of God's KINGDOM. God does not want you to perish because he LOVES you. If you hear his voice harden not your heart but seek him today. Tomorrow may be too late.

.............

In times of ignorance God winks at but now calls all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30-31). God's Word says if we break one of the ten we stand guilty before God of breaking all the commandments of God (James 2:8-12). God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) and if we break it like any of the other commandments we stand guilty before God of SIN (Exodus 20:1-17).

If we break any of God’s Laws we stand guilty before God in SIN (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20). This includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11)

Walk trough the valley
We are slow learners, yesterday I figured out why you don't come out of prison when the door has been opened:
Your a prison guard.
I wonder if the man who had been forgiven a fortune was there as prison guard to keep himself and His brother who owed him, let's say a days wage, seems accurate for lack of day of rest according to the law. Concluded I cant help people fighting over the right to say the same thing differently and its not just you the people at the other extreme in not by works are doing the same. Decided to take my advice to walk away from prison mentality, since not a prisoner of prison guard. You know, to think outside the box, actually we don't know in our understanding, that is where we are stuck when we think we know. "If you were blind you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim that you can see your guilt remains." We need to know we are guilty, to stop proving ourselves righteous. "One thing is needful" Grace to Love God and people as they are: frees them to change. The very fact that you hold people in a prison that has the door opened, I am not needed here: a prison guard doesn't need to escape from the law. Jesus did not come for the righteous but for sinners. Unless you know you are guilty you will continue to prove yourself, something a dead man can not do.

John said to believe in the name of the Son, and love one another. John said to love in deed and truth. loving others means doing good works for them.

true believers will have good works. I have never said that they will not. but, that does not change the fact that keeping the Sabbath has nothing to do will salvation.
I agree overall but there is a little more to it....as I see !
Loving each other and doing 'good works would really have to be ''according to GOD's Will' and not as seems right to US...wouldn't you say, seeing none of us are righteous without God. How would you 'define ''good works of God ? Does GOD give us some 'guidelines or do we just look to John a mere man ? I am not rejecting his advice but it does not give much detail in the scripture you so avidly believe....at least GOD gives us certain requirements necessary....the Sabbath is among them....you reject them ? Jesus kept it and we are supposed to be OBEDient to Him for Salvation Heb 5v8,9.
Let's discuss this without fighting...shall we ?
