Amen BillG...Jesus did not leave us to walk on our own...He gave us The Helper , why the Helper , because Jesus knows that is exactly what we need as we follow Him , plus the Counselor , whom we can speak to anytime , day or night , and the Advocate , who pleads our case when we get things wrong...
You know I often sit in amazement about what Jesus has done for us , I mean it is hard enough getting our head around the fact that He died in our place , took on all the sins of the world , suffered the Wrath of God and to feel seperated just in that time , and then after all that , He carries on caring for us and never ever stops giving , and when I think of what He said when He told us " I will never leave you nor forsake you " I understand what He meant...What a wonderful , Amazing Almighty God we serve...\o/...xox...He has given us everything we need for this narrow path
...
I can't get my head round it either.
Mark 15:33-34
Jesus Dies on the Cross
33 Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
I love my wife dearly, yet imperfectly.
But on the odd occasion when she has been way overnight, I find it difficult and miss her deeply.
My son started uni a couple of years ago.
We dropped him off. As we left I looked at him as he was walking away. He was looking back and I could see the fear/pain in his face. I kept it together and blew him a kiss and mouthed "I love you my Son"
When I got home I was desolate, I cried and cried. I felt like a part of me had been ripped out.
As I said I love yet imperfectly.
Yet I felt so much pain.
We know God is love, his love is perfect.
The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are the beginning.
Complete in love.
My God my God why have you forsaken me.
Every time I think about that it pierces my heart.
I think why on earth did you do that for me?
Then I'm reminded
John 19:30
30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Matthew 27:51
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
Jeremiah 31:3
3 The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.
- Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
- ’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
- Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
- The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
- Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
- The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
- When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
Thank you Jesus, even though I don't fully get it.
Sorry everyone, I have digressed.
Couldn't help myself.
