Hello gb9,

Posthuman already tried to help you. Here let's have a look at the GREEK...

STRONG'S
G4521 σάββατον sabbaton (saɓ'-ɓa-ton) n.
1. the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath).
2. a day of weekly repose from secular avocations.
3. the observance or institution itself.
4. by extension a week, the interval between two Sabbaths.
5. likewise the plural in all the above applications.
[of Hebrew origin (H7676)]
KJV: sabbath (day), week
Root(s): H7676

Now let's look at your scripture CONTEXT in how the word Sabbaton was used.......

1 Cor 16
2,
Upon the first day [MIA] of the week [Sabbaton] let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

So the use of the GREEK Word SABBATON used in the scripture CONTEXT of 1 Cor 16:2 is saying on the FIRST DAY of the WEEK [Sabbaton; 4. by extension a week, the interval between two Sabbaths.] is in refernce to the interval between the Sabbaths. That is why it has been translated in the engish as week and not Sabbath day.

You need to consider the CONTEXT of the scripture used with the HEBEREW and GREEK Words used.

Hope this helps.

...........

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.
miss the part of that verse that said " first day of the week " ? that is pretty clear what that means. very specific . and it proves you very wrong.

Joking right? Post # 4100 was focusing solely on "" first day of the week " Closing your eyes does not make God's Word dissappear my friend. It only shows you have no where to hide come judgement day. This is sad for you.

nope, in Thayer's greek, it specifically says that that in that verse, it meant exactly what it said- the first day of the week. also, it means the first day after the Sabbath, i.e, the first day of the week, in John 20, and Acts 20 v.7.

so, back to my original point, the Lord's Day, does not mean the Sabbath. John ( and Paul ), meant exactly what they said. i'll go with them and reject the ellen white cult manipulation of Scripture, trying to prove something that Biblically is not there.

1 John 2:1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

James 2:14What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? 17Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Not a long essay, Just bible.

NOPE? What is nope? What do you think it says in what verse? I think you need some sleep my friend by the sounds of things your not making any sense now. What has the first day after the Sabbath or the first day of the week mean to you? This is what I have been saying to you all this time. The first day of the week is NOT the "LORD'S DAY" there is NO scripture that supports this theory. There is however scripture that says that the "LORD'S DAY" = the SABBATH DAY! Although you do not want to BELIEVE Jesus about this (Matt 12:8)

so, back to my original point, the Lord's Day, does not mean the Sabbath. John ( and Paul ), meant exactly what they said. i'll go with them and reject the ellen white cult manipulation of Scripture, trying to prove something that Biblically is not there.
But my friend you have not made any points as yet. Your earlier post was pulled down with scripture showing the LORD'S DAY is NOT Sunday.

There Greek Words used in Revelations 1:10 for "LORD'S DAY" are two GREEK words for both words.

1."LORD'S"

Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries w/TVM, Strong - G2960

"LORD'S" ;κυριακό; kuriakos; koo-ree-ak-os'; From G2962; meaning; belonging to the Lord (Jehovah or Jesus): - Lord's.

2."DAY"

Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries w/TVM, Strong - G2250
"DAY"; ἡμέρα; hēmera; hay-mer'-ah Feminine (with G5610 implied) of a derivative of ἧμαι hēmai (to sit ; akin to the base of G1476) meaning tame, that is, gentle ; day, that is, (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context): - age, + alway, (mid-) day (by day, [-ly]), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.

All the above is saying is that John was in the Spirit on the the Lord's Day....

The same Greek word for DAY IS used in other places nad once again it is referring to God's Sabbath (Luke 4:16; 13:14; 16; 14:15; John 5:9; Acts:13:14)

Now where in the scriptures does it say that the "LORD'S DAY" is referring to Sunday? Woops there is no scripture. But I thought you just said in this post that you cannot prove something that is not there? You are correct you cannot prove that this scripture reference to the "LORD'S DAY" is referring to Sunday.

On the other Hand we read in the scritpures that God's day is the Sabbath day..........

Matthew 12
8, For the Son of man is LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY.

Amazing we have just found something you have just said was not there? So yep John was in the Spirit on the
"LORD'S DAY" which Jesus himself says is????????? THE SABBATH DAY.

Once again...........

The "LORD'S DAY" = The SABBATH DAY (Matthew 12:8)

Yep it seems God's Word is very clear the Lord's Day is the Sabbath day? There is NO scripture in God's WORD that says the Lord's DAY is Sunday.

Time to leave Sunday School my friend they are not teaching you God's Word but only to follow the teachings and traditions of man and leading you away from God.

Disagree? Please respond to this post. If you cannot then God is calling you to BELIEVE and FOLLOW him.

.................

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

Well this is between you and God as it was nearly all God's Words and not mine. You can choose to BELIEVE God's Word or not it is between you and God not me and you. If you disagree you disagree with God not me my friend as it is His Word and not mine.

Please if you believe what has been shared with you in post # 4089 (linked) is not true state your case and show your scriptures. If you cannot you should BELIEVE and FOLLOW the Word of God. As only God's Word is true.

Now gb9, if you read the OP here you would know why the word Sabbaton was used on the 1st day of the week. Its reference was the same as Col 2 and is in reference to the annual Jewish festivals. Now you did not even read the OP have you? What then are you even commenting on something that you have not ever read or considered?

It is blatantly obvious they don't read long posts....for they need feeding with a TEAspoon only....word for word....or they will vomit it back up like Babies overfed. Then again there are those who reject all godly nourishment and prefer 'Junk-food...should we not let them have their choice ?

And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,

New American Standard Bible
Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,

King James Bible
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

New International Version
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,

New Living Translation
They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity-
Exactly ! breaking bread mainly refers to having a MEAL together as also refers to Acts 20...when Paul returned and sat down to EAT v11 what he started in v7.
Why do we waste time with these rebels who have no intention of hearing God or us !

Hi Beta,

Yes this is sad. God wishes that none should be lost and bids all to come for the banquet is now ready. We know that many are called but few are chosen.

Some plant the seeds another waters, the increase? Only God knows, maybe not now, maybe not for along time but if the seed is not planted what can grow?

If the light is shining in the darkness others can find their way. If there is no light in the darkness in darkness will we stay.

I know there are others that may love God's Word and may wish to know what God's says. These are his Sheep and they will hear His Voice even if others do not want to.

God bless you as you continue in His Word...

We have read through his repeated, long winded posts which are full of scripture twisting, psycho babble, rhetoric and just plain nonsense. There is no godly nourishment to be found in SDA propaganda and legalism which perverts the Gospel. It's worse than junk-food. It's just plain garbage!

Hello MMD,

The posts and the scriptures in them that you do not respond to are God's Word's not mine. If you disagree with them it is between you and God. I do not judge you. You are free to do and believe whatever you wish. However all of us will give account to him who LOVES us come judgement day.

The light doers indeed shine in your darkness; but your darkness does not understand it. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. Light is come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

If you were of God you would come to the light but you chose your darkness in order to follow your traditions that break the Commandments of God.

Know this however, all those who knowingly turn from God's Word who would rather practice KNOWN SIN when God has freely given a KNOWLEDGE of the truth will not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

There is nothng hidden that shall not be revealed come judgement day. How can you know the Word of God when your lamp has gone out. If the light shines in your darkness embrase the light while it is given to show you the way. Turning away from the light will only lead you back into darkness. No man can find their way when they have no lamp when the road is dark and narrow.

Can you quote the passage or scripture you believe shows that the Jews created a Sabbath from Friday night to Saturday night? It would be helpful to know where you got this belief from.

Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

It seems God created His day to begin at sundown. So just to be clear, It was God, not Jews, who created His Day this way.

Gen. 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Again, it is God who saw fit to set apart this day from the rest of the week and sanctify the seventh day of His week, not the Jews.

If you are truly seeking Him, He will let you find Him and guide you in His Truth. I would be careful about listening to anyone. Just read the Word He created for you and follow His instructions. Don't let any man lead you away from His Word like the serpent did to Eve. You already know more than you think.
