New Living Translation Matthew 24
1 As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings. 2 But he responded, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!”
Verse 1-2 :Jesus Christ is telling his disciples, who are pointing out the various Temple buildings in Jerusalem, that the temples will be destroyed.
3 Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world/Age?[a]”
Verse 3 : Jesus Christ, and his Disciples, left from the buildings they were around and followed Jesus Christ on the Mount of Olives, which He liked to go to, and the Disciples, came to ask about when would they see the sign for the end of the (Age)/World (The Last time of the standing Jewish Temple / Old Covneant/ geneologies the Age was going to end), they were living in at that time because Jesus Christ said that the buildings would be destroyed so they came and asked Jesus Christ when will these things happen what will we see happening?
4 Jesus told them (His Disciples), “Don’t let anyone mislead you, 5 for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. 8 But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.
Verse 4-8: Jesus Christ told his disciples, to not let anyone miss lead them, because there would be many that come claiming, that they are they Messiah, and they will deceive many (even the elected could be possibly Verse 24), the Disciples would see these people around, they would also hear of wars, and threats of wars going on, but not to worry, because these things must take place but the end (The end of the Age) won't follow immediately, nation would go against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There would be famines, and earthquakes in many parts of the world-(The land of the inhabitants at that time/Region at that time, not the whole entire world). This would just be the start of everything, being of many sufferings they would endure and go through until the end of the age did come.
9 “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. 10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations[c] will hear it; and then the end will come.
Verse 9-14: Jesus Christ told his disciples, that they would be arrested, persecuted, and killed, that they would not be liked because they professed the Lord Jesus Christ name, even at one point where told to no longer speak His name (Acts 4:18) out in public, but they did anyway, which was worthy of death. There would be many people in those days betraying and hating each other, there would be many false prophets that will deceive many people, sin (unbelief/faithlessness) will be everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold (because of unbelief/faithlessness). The one who endures to the end will be saved, the one who substains his faith until the end of his life while all these things would be going on will be saved, and the Good news about the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations, will hear it; and then the end will come. The Disciples got the job done! The Good news of the Kingdom was preached through out the whole world (the land of the inhabitants of that time would only mean for the land then, so that all the nations at that time got to hear about it before the end would come which would be the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, who would end the Age of Material religion, Temples, Sacrifices,)
15 “The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about—the sacrilegious object that causes desecration[d] standing in the Holy Place.” (Reader, pay attention!)
Verse 15: Talking about something to His disciples about what the Daniel the prophet spoke about, there would be a day when they would see the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the holy place.
16 “Then those in Judea must flee to the hills. 17 A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. 18 A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat. 19 How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days. 20 And pray that your flight will not be in winter or on the Sabbath.
Verse 16-19: When this day comes, those who are in Judea must flee to the hills.
21 For there will be greater anguish than at any time since the world began. And it will never be so great again. 22 In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, not a single person will survive. But it will be shortened for the sake of God’s chosen ones.
Verse 21-22: There will be greater anguish than any time since the world began, when all of these things progress until the end of the age, and it will never be so great again. (Thank God) Because if God didn't short this time of calamity not a single person will (would have) survive (survived). So this time, was the greatest time in history, that was filled with a time of calamity, that would never be so great again.
23 “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.
Verse 23-25: If anyone tells you that here is the Messiah, there He is, do not believe them, because there will be many people who will deceive other people and lead them away from the truth of that is in Jesus Christ, and deny the faith, and that it was possible to even these people who were deceiving could deceive those who where elect, back then.
26 “So if someone tells you, ‘Look, the Messiah is out in the desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, he is hiding here,’ don’t believe it! 27 For as the lightning flashes in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man[e] comes. 28 Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.[f]
Verse 26-28: So still if anyone tells you look the Messiah is out in the desert, do not bother about looking, for Him, don't believe it!, For as a the lighting flashes, in the east and shines to the west, so it will be when the Son of Man Comes, just as gathering of vultures shows there is carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.
The coming of the end (Age) is that of a quick lighting flash, in the east, and shines in the west when the Son of Man Comes.
28, I am unsure what this means, but it seems to be talking about vultures, that gather together, show a dead body near by, which is an indication of the end is near?
