As neither was changing Scripture to depict a scene of thousands of Christians, totally changing their supposed beliefs of loving their enemies (Jesus' explicit command to every Christian) to, instead, come riding in a gleeful, slaughtering army.
But civil law is a different thing to war footing. There is a time for every purpose of God and when he rides to make war he means it. A time for war AND a time for peace. We have even been told there is [or was] a time of war in heaven. Michael and his angels won that one.

And Jesus simply made only one statement about how we are to treat our enemies. It is US, ourselves, with the vindictive attitude of mankind (remember Cain & Abel?), who see slaughter and killing as Jesus' "new" way.

What do folks here think?

And, as a side topic to this question...

Is it good morals to have a preconceived notion?
The book of Revelation is a revealing of Jesus Christ to the world, and the time that God will end this sin business on earth.

Soon the whole world will know of Jesus Christ that He is God.

The Bible says the mystery of God shall be finished.

God warns us of the new age movement interpretation of the Bible in the latter times, based on the occult, spiritual evolution through nature, and Jesus is not Lord and Savior, but a good teacher in spiritual enlightenment, and an ascended master, and honors the God of forces,or the power of nature as their God,which is the future for this sinful world, and will become a unified religious system, and will pave the way to the beast kingdom in Revelation.

The beast kingdom shall have power over all nations, kindreds, and tongues, and they shall devour the whole earth, tread it down, and break it in pieces.

God is going to give the world 7 years to have their way and cause all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom, and then He will end this sin business on earth.

The book of Revelation is a warning to the world to get right with God so they can escape the wrath to come, and to reveal the new earth, and new heaven, the New Jerusalem where the saints will dwell forever.

Some people do not believe the New Jerusalem is an actual place, but the Bible says that God will create a new heaven, and new earth, and the former heaven, and earth, shall not be remembered, nor come to mind, for they will dissolve for they are associated with sin,so this earth, and heaven, will pass away, which concerning the New Jerusalem,Jesus said the former things have passed away, and He makes all things new,the place Jesus went away to prepare for the saints, which is a place where sin has never been, and sin will never be.

Some people think that the 7 years has been fulfilled in the first century but that is not true.

The Bible says that 70 weeks are determined upon Israel as a nation to get in the truth, and anoint the most holy, who is Jesus.

But we see they have not done that yet.

People will not debate that 69 weeks have passed, but debate on the 70th week.

At the end of 70 weeks Israel as a nation have to be in the truth that Jesus is their Messiah.

Jesus came unto His own,but His own did not receive Him,so Israel as a nation did not turn to Israel as a nation then.

The Roman Empire overthrew Jerusalem, and scattered them in to the nations,so as a nation they did not turn to Jesus.

When they became a nation again in 1948 until this day they do not recognize Jesus as their Messiah.

So the 70th week is in the future, and the 7 years period is the time that God causes all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom, and brings Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah fulfilling the 70th week.

God said He is going to bring back the captivity of Jacob, the whole house of Israel, and put them on their land, and leave none of them in the nations, and when He does He will not hide His face from them anymore, and they will know the LORD their God from that day and forward, and they will be in the truth.

If that happened in the past then Israel as a nation would be in the truth,so it is a future event. If they say it is speaking of the Babylonian captivity then Israel would of been in the truth from that time forward and would of not rejected Jesus.

The Bible says Israel is blinded in part, for the most past they acknowledge the Old Testament, but not the New,until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in,when salvation is no longer available to the Gentiles, and so all Israel shall be saved, which God will make a full end of all Gentile nations, but will not make a full end of Israel, and will restore the kingdom on earth to the Jews, and Jesus and the saints will rule over the heathen, and the heathen shall know that Israel went in to captivity for their sins against God,but He was on their side all along, and as long as the ordinances of heaven are still in affect, the sun, moon, and stars,God has not cast them off,and has not broken His covenant with them, and they shall not cease from being a nation.

The man of sin will establish peace in the Middle East, and it will pave the way for all Jews to go to Israel, and the Jews and the Gentiles will be separated.

The Jews will split Jerusalem with the Palestinians, and the Jews will rebuild their temple with no hassle from the Palestinians, and since they are blinded in part will go back to the Old Testament way concerning the temple.

The Gentile nations will come together and say,Peace and safety,as they try to establish peace on earth, and will operate by a ten horn kingdom, the world split in to ten sections with a leader in each section, and a unified religious system based on the new age movement for three and one half years, which repentance and salvation is still available to the world.

The ten horn kingdom will fail at obtaining peace on earth, and the world will turn to the man of sin,New Age Christ,as the answer to achieve peace on earth, who will rule for three and one half years, and when they follow the beast, and take the mark, then repentance and salvation is no longer available to the world, and the fulness of the Gentiles will be come in,and God will turn Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah.

At the end of the 7 years period Israel as a nation will be in the truth and the 70 weeks have been fulfilled.

The world will attack Jerusalem,Jews, and Jesus will come back with the saints, and defeat the world, and save Israel, and the kingdom on earth restored to the Jews.

The 70th week could of not happened in the past for at the end of 70 weeks Israel as a nation has to be in the truth that Jesus is their Messiah, but they have not done that yet.

That is what happens when people have a belief of the Bible that usually comes from another source that when they read the Bible they only have that belief in mind and do not see the red flags that go against it.They miss the scriptures that contradict their belief.

All prophesy has not happened in the first century.

The book of Revelation is a revealing of Jesus Christ that He is God to the world.

A warning to the world to turn to God to escape the wrath to come.

The time that God causes all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom so He can end this sin business on earth, and bring Israel as a nation to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah.

The first attack on Jerusalem by the Roman Empire, because they rejected Christ, which Jesus said the Jew's house is left unto them desolate until they say, blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord, and God allowed the attack on the Jews.

The second attack on Jerusalem by the world, because they accepted Christ, which they will say blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord, and God does not allow the attack on the Jews but saves them, and punishes the world for their sins and iniquities against Him.

When the time is right, the forces of evil that seem to dominate our world will be utterly destroyed, and God's eternal kingdom will come into its fulfillment.

Revelation 9:20-21
"But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor walk. And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts".

These verses deal with the moral response of unbelievers during the Tribulation to the terrible events of the sixth trumpet judgment. Those who survived did not change their thinking about their sinful ways. That is, although the judgments were great and should have led people to abandon their transgressions, the people would not give up their sinful behavior.
These verses clearly imply that had a significant number of the surviving unbelievers repented of their wicked ways, the horrible judgments of the Tribulation might have been lessened.

Neither "gleeful" nor "slaughtering". It is the Lord Himself who slaughters His enemies with "the breath of His mouth" and indeed a river of blood will flow at the battle of Armageddon. If you have a problem with that, you must take it up with the Lord. We cannot ignore the fact that severe judgment will come upon the enemies of Israel and Christ. The Bible says that this is a righteous thing:

6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10
When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. (2 Thess 1:6-10)

The war in heaven between Michael and his angels and the fallen angels has not happened yet,and Satan is the prince of the power of the air,but when this war happens Satan and his angels are cast to earth, which the earth becomes the habitation of devils, and it is their holding cell, and they will deceive all people who do not love God to follow the beast kingdom, which is the strong delusion that God will send all people who love not the truth, and when they follow the beast kingdom then God will end this sin business on earth.

For people that think that a war would not happen in which God comes back with His saints for they are to love their enemy does not apply, for the saints while on earth have to abide by that, love their enemies, but when God comes back to war against the world the saints are with Him with glorified bodies and spiritual, and the scenario different, for it is the time for God to end this sin business on earth, and they followed the beast and took his mark in which they cannot repent and have salvation so they are being punished.

I don't think it's going to be as you described-"gleeful" God said he takes no pleasure in the death of anyone.
But he is the righteous and just judge, The Sovereign. It's different than a god of war just wreaking havoc for the sake of it.

Of course it isn't. But that is exactly what the majority of Christians are looking forward to, and hope to participate in.

I believe that whole scene is Jesus and His followers covering the Earth in a last-ditch effort to bring God's word to all men.

I have believed for a long time (and it's speculation on my part based only loosely on scripture) that The Lord gives them one last chance during the final battle. Not like an alter call or anything but a way out so to speak. I wouldn't advise anyone to push their luck though.

I think you are right. But, I think that period is right now... and that it may last for even another thousand years, or so. Or more. And I believe WE are the soldiers He is using in that long, protracted battle.

Just as when Thessalonians talks about Him "destroying His enemies" with the breath of His word..... I think that means using us, His Army, to CONVERT people who were previously "enemies of God in their minds." Not slicing their guts open with a sword.

I showed you this before and you obviously ignored it.

Why would anyone have any remorse about comeing with the Lord to annihilate evil people. Or is it as you think that Jesus will give them a get in free card to his kingdom without them being repentant.

There is absolutely no Scriptural basis for this fanciful interpretation. Rev 6-18 precede Rev 19 and that entire section of Revelation deals with future JUDGMENTS on the unbelieving, the ungodly, and the enemies of Christ. The time for bringing men to Christ is now, BEFORE the judgments of Revelation begin. We are already seeing judgments in the natural disasters that have been taking place recently.

Even this picture is a manmade fabrication. Why are they changing Scripture to show things just the opposite of how Scripture describes them? (You did say you are a student of the book, right? So you know exactly what I am talking about.)
Hello Willie-T,

Let's compare two little girls' drawing and painting of Jesus:

Which one is more "exact?" Doesn't Jesus have WHITE hair in the book of Revelation? Yet, aren't both drawings, Jesus? :)

As a mom, I love ALL of my children's drawings and NONE of them are "exactly" right. But, the heart of the child that drew them was "exactly" right. :)

I choose not to be so critical, just enjoy the heart of the artist that did their best (not exact), but best that they could do. :)

The sword of the spirit is the word of God. You KNOW that.

I don't think gut-slicing will be necessary. Their faces will melt off before his awesome power. ;)

No. All of God's Word is true.

It's not about what we think, for what we think doesn't change Biblical truth. It's really about what God thinks, & alotta people don't seem to care about what He thinks anymore.

Eisegesis isn't allowed when interpreting scripture, so preconceived notions aren't worth the paper they're written on.
I guess you don't think Revelation itself is a preconceived notion, a prediction of the future?
