My education was in Southern California and also at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. I also was trained in Communications and Electronics in the USAF. My studies include English, Languages, Linguistics and more.

My grades were top 10%, usually A's. All of this and a dollar will not buy you a cup of espresso in a Starbucks.

I see people here adamant en lieu of discussion. No, I am not source authority on grammar, but folks, you must realize each person has a lingual background different from all others.
Do not say using the word corn is just British English when it is in US KJV Bibles also, at least it was..

Again we are sharing lingual experiences, not what is etched in stone. Were this the case, I would correcting grammatical errors in the thread constantly, and the basis for the correction would be wrong in other coutnries, adn at times wrong in other regions within this country.

So go ahead adn write your responses in stone.........I can be wrong.

You are using a flawed translation. Corn was never grown in Israel in Biblical times. The more proper translation states heads of grain.

Matthew 12 NIV

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath

12 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

With all due respect my six pence is: if the Disciples had picked corn, apples or even popcorn (pun intended).. it is not going to change what we take from the event... I assure you we are free to pick corn and not grain only if hungered. GOD be thanked.

I have shared from my preferred version and if the Lord allows I will continue to do so.

Incorrect. Using the name of a grain that never was grown outside the Americas during Biblical times brings discredit to the Bible. The Bible is the word of God and if something in it is proven to be a lie it discredits the whole Bible. Atheists try to do this all the time.

The KJV was translated in 1611 therefore uses language of that era which has changed much since then. Thus misunderstanding creeps in. If you are in a car accident and someone in the other car is killed are you guilty of murder?

Uh, corn meant grain in the Queen's English, thus your point is moot. ;)

In English, our mother tongue, any grain may be referred to as a corn. It only became exclusive to maize when people in the developing US began using the word corn exclusively for maize. They derived the word from its original meaning, a kernel or a grain or a seed.... You know........synonyms. Languages are full of them.

Actually the use of the word corn in that particular scripture was and is correct to any who know their language . albeit it may sound odd to some using it such. Talk to an Amish. I ralize they like to speak German, but it is prettyi certain they have used theword corn for grain......etc.

Here is the difference between us, we know it is permitted and you are adamant it is not. We say, you may, you say it is forbidden.

I have just come from another thread where you are complaining about the posts because you "hdetest the KJV Bible."

For aperson who claims to be 73 years old, you certainly different from your peers in time.

Now if you detest the KJV, this is jsut fine, there are manyi versions of the Word, I know I have read several, and all pretty much say the very same thing.

Here you are because the for runner of the word, corn, is used properly in the KJV and other versions of the Word makes you upset. Be upset, but do not try to change the truth of language just for your own satisfaction.

Did you know that plastic did not always refer to credit cards? If you do not like th KJV, do not read it, but allow others to have the same freedo they give you.

Boy, and I thought I was being nitpicky for questioning the use of an "s" at the end of "Revelation".

Are you serious?

Are you saying I should not use the KJV based upon corn not growing at the time?

I’m quite content and not concerned in the slightest...

If I was dui or driving without due care I would feel quilty as if I had murdered then, but I guess you are going in a direction anti kjv with this too?

If an atheist came with these facts I would smile and think really!

Corn was obviously used used to represent whatever the Disciples picked when hungered.. it is not of great importance.

Matthew 2:18 ... was Rachel heard crying for her children who were no more?

In the OT the Sabbath day was a day of rest... There was no requirement for them to attend the Synagogue on that day.. .
It may not have said where to meet, but Convocation means public meeting. H4744- something called out, that is, a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal. Strong's Dictionary

Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. (KJV)
