Abraham Lincoln was a Christian, and fought long and hard for the freedom of slaves, and the abolition of slavery. He had the support of "the right." What an incredible man.

i have only clicked on a couple of the homosexual type threads ive seen on here

but in every one of them he is spouting off garbage

Stop with the victim card already. Sodomites have made a choice and are entitled to the consequences.

Black people were enslaved by their tribal chiefs and sold into slavery. White people were wrong to buy them but they did not enslave them in the first place.

There is no excuse for black people today to remain victims except that once again their black leaders are keeping them oppressed. I have yet to see a black politician have the best interests of his people ahead of his own interests. The few that tried were attacked by the black leaders who turned the black population against them.

Personal responsibility is blind to color.

That's not what I said though. I said Christianity in the black community can be traced back to slavery which is completely historically accurate. Africans had their own religion before they were brought to America by force.
White supremacist in the fifties and sixties thought they had a divine right to oppress black people. Why do you think the KKK burn crosses? Because they think what they are doing is ordained by God.
Fast forward to 2017 and it's the same thing. People think they have a divine right to take someone else's civil rights away

The reason we're "cherry picking" the sin of homosexuality in this thread, above other sins...
is because that happens to be the topic of this thread.

The topic of this thread isn't hypocrisy, and it's not even the "sinfulness" of homosexuality;
the topic of this thread is the "politics" of gay rights.

Since the gay community is quite happy to talk about their political issues,
I can't see how that should be an offensive topic.




All I've done in this thread is suggest people discuss this topic MORE RATIONALLY, and offer a plea for both sides to stop mischaracterizing each other.

Since the gay community is perfectly happy to discuss their politics, and it doesn't bother them in the least, and their politics ARE the topic of this thread... perhaps your approach should be more similar to mine.

You pointed out yourself that they went out of their way to do so. They had an agenda.

I can actually see both sides of this issue. On one hand people should have the religious freedom not to do something that's against their religion but on the other hand if it's a business that caters to the general public that they have to abide by discrimination laws

Apparently, they wanted their cake and to eat it too. Things were more civil when they stayed in the closet and minded their own business. The rights of the gay community end when they begin to infringe upon my community.

everyone has been trying to show this person the actual non subjective truth for awhile

he just wants to constantly reject it

arguing is not fruitful
and there are many further in their walk than me who can easily debunk his garbage

Dude,

I think we would all completely agree with your statement I highlighted.
I think we would all agree this is terrible.
I think we all share your outrage, that the bible could be wrongly used to justify such terrible things.


I think the place we have a problem is where, in a previous post, you suggested it was the entire "religious right" who was doing this. I think that's unfair, and inaccurate... and perhaps you just said that in a hurry when you were feeling upset.
That happens.

We all get emotional and blurt out things we'd be better off rethinking first.
I do it too.

I really think that on issues like this, where both sides get very emotional, we need to be EXTRA careful in what we say, and how we say it. And that goes for both sides.

Religion needs to stay out of politics
Unless churches want to start paying taxes
