Hi my name is Priscilla and I am 14

I just would like some advice for someone my age.
I will not lie but being a teen and staying close to god is really hard.
I promise i will never give up on god it's just that at my age their are so many distractions.
I love my friends but if i truly wish to be as close to them as i would like i would be disobeying god SO much.
So what should i do. Should i cut off my friends. I really don't want to do that because i don't like to be alone. I know i will always have god but seeing people not talk to me makes me feel like know one likes me.

At my age social media would be everything to me but that is not a part of my life.
I have cut off many thing for god and i feel good.
I have been walking better with god and have been sinning much less.....except when i am with my friends.
It really hurts me to go home after school and ask god to forgive me. I don't want to hurt god anymore.
I have hurt him to much in my life and really really really DO NOT want to do it anymore.

Life is really hard. I do go to church but rather be alone with god.

I would also like to hear his voice so he can lead me but i don't know when it's him or just my mind.

It's also really sad to see how my friend are not listening to god.
I really try to tell them about him but they don't listen.

If their is anyone who i an talk to about stuff like this would be nice.
i did talk about stuff like this to my mom but she passes away last year.
My dad ... he is Christian but he smokes and does not listen me when i tell him to stop.
I do love him but also fear for him because he does not listen.

it would also be nice to have people my age so we can relate and talk about stuff like this but finding Christian my age where i live is so hard.

So i would love some advice.
Thank you.

I'll let the teens give advice, but here is a bit of mine. You should capitalize God's name. :) It shows respect for Him.

I'm going to request that some of the adult women go ahead and jump in here and give her some advice.

She may need some teen companionship, but she needs some adult advice.

I grew up as a very lonely, self-isolated teen. I had only a few friends. My childhood was not happy because of many things. I preferred playing by myself and did so, rather often. The friends I encountered in my 20's were not real friends. They took advantage of me, stole from me, even tried to get me arrested. Looking back now, I wish I'd never met any of them, but they've made me what I am today: smarter, stronger and hopefully wiser. :)

I don't know what your friends do, but if you feel like you should limit contact with them, then do it. But stay off social media such as FB, Twitter, Kik, etc..

Oke I will.
But I would not mind your advice.
Did u have problems like this to.

Adult woman! Jumping in here to give advice!

First of all, hello, FairyTail (and the rest is an edit because I magically posted before I was done somehow lol) Hello, FairyTail! :) Welcome to CC!

The most important advice I can give you is to be a leader. Be amazing. Be the strong, amazing leader that God is calling you to be... look at you, seeking out counsel.... that is wisdom already. You have a destiny. Part of your destiny is being a blessing to your friends. So get up and get out there and LEAD! You don't have to dump your friends. By no means. Just get up and leave when they start doing stupid stuff. They will come to -respect- you for this, and to see you as a unique individual, and not just one of the sheeple. (Sheople? People sheep? You know what I mean!)

Be around your friends, love them! Pray for them! Have FUN with them!! And when they start talking about stupid stuff, you can just jokingly say, "Hey, I'm not about that" or whatever. Lead. You can do it. Get out there in front. You go, girl. <3

The only advice I can give you is if your father smokes, you should probably invest in one of those special masks that protect you from cigarette smoke, if that's possible. :)

hello, Priscilla, i'm so glad you joined us here! :)

i'm sad to hear you lost your mom. that must be so hard! and now you're worrying you'll lose your dad, too, is that right?
that's perfectly understandable. perhaps he doesn't realize how it's affecting you, and if that is so, i think you can tell him that.

of course you want to have friends, dear heart! life is really hard, and that actually doesn't change as we age, but by the grace of God, we change. i say that to offer you a bit of hope that throughout our circumstances, God remains with us and helps us, as He is with you now.

Jenizona has given you good counsel, in my estimation. till you are able to meet some friends who are believers, do you think you can say no to the things your friends want to do that make you uncomfortable? i know that might sound difficult to do, as it sort of paints a target on your back. yet i believe the Lord will strengthen you and enable you to do this.

it's great you're going to church! if you want to hear God speak, simply open your Bible, little one. :)
everything you need to know is right in there.

keep doing all the good things you're doing, Priscilla! i'm impressed! and i have said a prayer for you.
also, please do keep posting, as much as you like. the teen years are especially hard, and frustrating, so don't be alone, okay?

we're here for you. ♥

Thank you very much and yes I am scared to lose my dad too but i won't stop praying for him.

I wish it would be easy to find friends my age who are believers. It really is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Hey girl!
I know what you mean...when I was 14, I had the exact same problem. I was with friends who would do things that would not please God and because I was so eager to fit in, I tried my best to involve myself and act like them..by this I mean white lies, occasionally swearing, gossiping about others. Fitting in at that age is something that we all want as that is the only way to really make friends but u do have to realize, there are people like you out there who know the difference between right and wrong but still force themselves to fit in to please others. As a young christian, it was really hard for me to put my faith first over everything else. After going into high school, I was so involved with friends, school and drama that I started to forget about God and did not include him in my day like I used to before. I distanced myself from God and eventually realized how hard my life had become. Now at 19, I realized that only with God, I am able to live a peaceful and successful life. Being so young, make sure you do not distance urself from God as that is the one secret key to living a great life here on earth. As for your friends, you should not distance yourself from them but try to teach them your ways and make them understand that you do not want to do the things they do. If they are your true friends, they will stick around and if not, God will bring the right friends into your life where you dont have to follow them, but they will follow you. In the end, as Gods children, our goal is to teach others how to walk in Jesus' footsteps:) You dont have to go and start talking about God and Jesus, but when they do wrong, you can correct them. You are better and stronger than your friends because u have a hidden treasure that they dont have. Remember, in this world, there is a lot of sin and its hard not to be part of it but u are the light of this world so shine bright !:) you can hang with people but do not let them influence or change you...u go out and change them:)

Thank you soo much
You just explained my life but I will take your advice.
Gossiping is really one of the annoying things because I don't even notice I'm doing it sometimes.
I really love my friends but now that I'm born again in christ I see in how much sin they are living and it almost makes me want to stay away from them. But I love them to much to do that. Almost everyday I come home sad or depressed from school because of my friends and wanting to stay with God. But when I'm at home I feel happy. I wish I could just stay home forever.
At times like this I wish God could just come down and give me a hug.

when I talk about God to my friends I either get attacked or ignored.
One time I was talking about the second coming of God to one of my friends and the other one said that God would never come and I started crying.

I really wish God sends someone for me to talk about stuff like this but I thank you for your advice.
It helps a lot.:D

Thank you.
I have been keeping my distance lately so have just have to see how thing turn out.
I know there are several adult women here who would and have given great advice, I'd really suggest talking to them in more depth. I was going to ignore the thread and just let them talk with you but this caught my eye and I wanted to add a little.
Losing someone, like your mom, is rough. My grandpa (who was for all real emotional reasons the only dad I'd ever known and who I lived with) passed away the day before I turned 13. We knew he was sick and it wasn't really a shock but I never expected him to really be gone. For the next couple of years I just shut everyone out. My mom didn't notice or care and my grandma had her own grief to deal with. It seemed silly to me and I really couldn't even say that I was sad. I was just numb.
I didn't want to talk to anyone or see anyone. Everywhere I went was a reminder of him in some way so I just did what I had to so people let me be. I finally starting coming out of that about 2 and a half years later. I started really and honestly letting myself feel that grief then. Four years later and the missing hasn't really stopped but it's different...I enjoy thinking about him now. I enjoy remembering. The good in the memory is worth the small amount of sadness remembering that he isn't here brings. Anyways....if you're distancing because of that I'd really encourage you to think about it and think about who you could talk to that would help you process that. It won't go away....not really...not in my opinion or experience.

hey Priscilla! (love your name)
im just near your age, except just a year older (dont look at my profile number…i put in a wrong birthdate) i
know how you're feeling… i struggle hearing from God as i want to. it is reslly hard staying close to God as a teen. trust me, i know! i try my best seeking Him and reading His word but i get nothing. but here's something, you're doing the right thing by shutting all the stuff that might be distracting you from God. here's the thing: when God sees your longing to hear from Him, he will reward you for your eagerness to hear from him. do you spend at least 30 mins with Him everyday? try doing that if not. it worked for me, and sometimes you can feel His presence assuring you…dont worry, God will show uo somehow in your life. im still waiting on Him to do that for me
