I just started a major clean up in my firm. I have been lazy sending out bills, but now I got down to atleast start. And before doing half of my students I have sent a bill on 7500 USD. Why did I worry about money? I should just be more careful to get what I have worked for. *Banging my head against the wall in self hatred*

That's kind of what I was thinking. There is no way she can be taking that bite she is supposed to be taking. The sandwich is about half again as wide as her mouth is.
 
And she would have had ketchup and dressing all over her face if she really was digging in to it.

I had wet hair, so it looks darker than it is. I am dark blond with a hint of red.... And unfortuantely some greys, too.

She's definitely biting it because there is more to that gif showing she's eating it but I didn't post it because the camera pans back and shows her in a bikini. It's part of a carl's jr. commmercial. You can look up Carl's Jr., Samantha Hoopes. :rolleyes: (you're welcome)
 
It is from the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, a compendium by John Koenig that defines emotions and feelings that have not been assigned a specific word in the English language.

It is a collection of neologisms but you are incorrect in assuming there is an error in the use of suffixes for a noun vs a verb in this case. The experience is a noun but the act of going through it could be ascribed a verb. So I do understand that it could be confusing. :)

However that is the beauty of this project and it has received critical acclaim.

Oops, I missed this in my first post.

I wanted to ask if cathart was a verb... did you take it out of Urban Dictionary?

This is not the same "bite" as the one in post #59693. It is not even the same commercial.

My remark was intended to be a "funny sidenote" based on the position of her lips at the end of her bite - and, it does not look like she actually bit much-if-anything off of the burger in that shot. In the shot above, it does kinda-sorta look like she may have bitten something off the burger. In the other commercial, it looks like they did a second "take" to get the end of the bite whereas the first "take" - for whatever reason - did not give them what they wanted. In the first take, it looks like she may have bitten something off the burger -- but, in the second take, it looks more like she is just "kissing" it...

I was just trying to add a little bit of amusement...

Some of my favorite words are not really words. Flabberdibble, Whodang, and Whippersnipple. So sir, stick that in your Funk and Wagnall.
 
We've got one conversation going about slang and the genesis of language and another about the position of a girls lips on a burger in a fast food commercial. What a thread.
 
Speaking of the Genisis of languages. Did Adam and Eve speak Hebrew? Did dialects occure before the tower.of Babel? How many languages were created at that moment? Did some of the newly created languages mingle and become a pidgin? Or did they have a Lingua.Framca? How many languages did the Apostles speak when they spoke in tongues on Pentecost?

And. Are humans born with an universal grammar or does language only occure in the society with other humans? And can you think without a language?

Absolutely!

Thought processes take place on different levels. Only the first two ( out of seven, that I personally have ever experienced simultaneously ) are "language-driven" -- the others do not require "language" in the sense that you mean it here.

I have experienced "single thoughts" - in a moment of time - that contained the scope and amount of information that could fill a page in a book.

This is "normal" for me. I think on multiple levels almost continuously. I have "all kinds of things" going on in my head - [ seemingly ] simultaneously - "all the time"...

Is this not the same with everyone else?

( Perhaps, I am simply more aware of it. )

What is interesting is that it seems like there is rarely ever a single conversation going on for very long...

I have tried to make the same argument with my fellow linguists...
Some are thinking in colors. But the idea of colors needs words and are therefore wordbased.
I, when reading sheetmusic, think physically with fingerings, breathing, tongue, lips. And audibly with rythm, sound, melody, tone. No words. But I needed words in the beginning to identify the note, to tell my fingers how to move, tongue where to touch and with what speed and strength... So that too (it breaks my heart) is word based.
Same goes with tastes. They say. Again I am not sure. The dog likes different tastes. Including poo. You can think in taste combinations. Is that connected to words?
And they say language is a human trait. But doesn't a dog think too? My dog when seeing me entering the lift thinks... Does he reach to enter before the door closes, or do I walk down the stairs, going to my place and pretend I have been there for hours.... He thinks.. but he doesn't have words for it. Although he knows the words go down. Lift. Enter. Lie down. Goodies. Food. Hungry... Doesn't mean he has a language, does it?
