I never put anyone on ignore.
I love all of you.
But, of course, I realize some of you are just plain stupid, but I still luv ya.:)

I don't like name calling or insulting someone's intelligence and neither does Jesus; God love's you, but you are still going on my ignore list. :)

Let us keep this above board.....no replies to any post that belittles, name calls etc.....It is one thing to disagree over doctrine......and as long as we are still learning, in bodies of sin that fail occasionally etc. there will be disagreements....at the end of the day there is but one truth concerning everything found in scripture....this includes biblical salvation......and this thread is about the fact that salvation is based upon faith...not works....and that is where the contention comes in...the bible teaches salvation is a one off at the moment of faith....there can be NO WORKS BEFORE salvation as the works are the result of something that one already possesses.....

I like drawings,

My eyes are drawn to the T, the place of redemption

"In my end is my beginning"
T. S. Eliot

...and then at last we will say we have finished the race

xxxxxxxxxxxx T --------------->

the above is a diagram I saw in church this weekend, it speaks of a persons line or movement from non believer to eternity.

The x's represent the work of a god in ones life to draw them to himself, this may take weeks, months or even years.

the T represents the cross, or the moment the work of God led one t true faith, it is he point in which the person is born again, justified, made a child of God, perfected by me sacrifice, it is the moment God begins a god wrk.

the long arrow after represent the time in a believers life where he is being sanctified, growinging in the grace and knowledge of Christ, starting out being disciples, hopefully ending up discipline others

After the arrow, is eternity, where the child of God has realized his salvation,

I agree. We need to help each other in this by holding our own "side" to account for unloving or puffed up words. If we hear them from the other "side" and call them on it, we need to walk how we expect them to walk or we are just hypocrites. And we need each others help because when we get dragged under by reviling back, we get stuck there and need a hand up sometimes.

I just spent the last hour reading through a page worth of reported posts from this one thread. Most of them reported by one individual, all of the reported posts were authored by one user. It is quite obvious that this reporter has an agenda against the other user since in just a couple of minutes I have found several other posts by other users that are if not just as bad are by far worse that this same person has not reported.

So, this is the deal, I can do nothing and allow this thread to continue on (I'll reopen it in a little bit) or I can close it and then spend a week or more of my evenings reading all 30,500 posts post by post and removing EVERY user who has been less than perfectly polite. Yeah, most persons who have interacted in this thread have been less than civil at some point so going that route will make the BDF really quiet for a while

which is why I decided to make a new salvation related thread, because things were pretty out of hand here,so I have no quam with you closing this thread or otherwise despite that I know dcontroversal made this thread for "discussion" of salvation, not arguments,do what you think best, once fallen,I for one as a participater of this thread already have moved on for the most part.

No offence intended, but I would that you close the thread.

Says the man with 500 posts in this thread
The truth is if it isn't, the trouble will only start up again.
And if I were to permanently close this thread another one just like it will arise within weeks (if not days) and you (and numerous others from both sides of the debate will be waiting to correct (ad infinitum) those whose doctrine does not line up with yours perfectly.

And even when we don't yet realize that, it is still so! :)
I cannot get past nor will I ever get past the verbiage used below......and is exactly why I believe in the eternal security of the believer...

a. Jesus begins and finishes our faith
b. Jesus will complete that good work he began in us
c. Jesus said he will NEVER leave us or forsake us
d. We are saved, justified, sealed and sanctified in Christ
e. We are saved to the uttermost
f. We are kept by his power, the power OF God
g. We are in the Father's hand
h. We are in the Son's hand
i. He said he would lose Nothing but raise it up the last day
j. He will leave the 99 to find and restore the one who has wandered
k. The prodigal was a son throughout the whole process

etc......Not to mention the words eternal, everlasting, sealed unto the day of redemption etc........

Yes, if it depended on me, I would have drowned long ago. But even when I became like a foolish Galatian, trying hard to be good, He was still with me and communed with me often, and brought me through it. He didn't abandon me even then.

Walk trough the valley
We believe in the Grace of God: "MY Grace is Sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect In weakness." We see dimly God's heart, in agreement with Him (the Holy Spirit given to us forever as apart from Him we don't have Life). To some people that Jesus healed, He said, "According to your faith, so be it unto you." It's written, "Behold I come quickly and My reward is with Me (Resurrection), to give every man according as His work shall be." Are we still on the same page? Maybe I should use the word labour instead, "Let us labour to enter into that Rest lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." "Work out your own Salvation (renewal) with fear (admiration worship) and trembling {(conviction of the Holy Spirit) "in His presence I exceedingly fear and quake."} Languages were confused at the tower of babel, because the people were building themselves: a god. Until we walk in Love of God, that is the case: "Your are divided because you are carnal," in the mind of the flesh: the fruit of the tree of knowledge, a selfish existence." Paul was speaking to Christians, forgiven but immature, not having entered into rest in the mind of Christ. Not in "Faith that works by Love," they had not yet obtained rest from their labour, had not grown up in Christ Love. We are assured they are forgiven, "I write to you little children because you are forgiven," These include people quarrelling and divided, like Francine, me and You. I'm included because the Lord told me 11 years ago: Enter in as a little child and put away your divided Spirit. Since He addressed me as a little child, I asked Him how old am I in spirit? He said 12. A few weeks later He said: Come to my house, I'M coming to my house. I was still in addiction and sin at the time, there was no blame, just compassion in His voice. I began to understand the experience of Jesus at 12: His disappearance for 3 days: a parable of dying to His childhood, to be in the Fathers house, to do the will of the Father. "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven," for His disciples, for us following Him in the fellowship of His suffering and death. This is also why few find the straight gate, "I have a baptism to be immersed in and how am I straightened until it be accomplished". A year after the Lord told me to come to His house, I still stumbled into addiction and sin, returned to Him and in the morning woke up hearing: This kind does not come out but by prayer and fasting. Have began prayer and fasting (not about food but abstaining from addiction) and the Journey to enter into rest is about that. "I write to you fathers because you know the Father," these have learned to Love God's children. "I write to you young men (no gender in Spirit, "There is neither male or female but a new creature.") because you are strong and know the word of God and have overcome the evil one." These rule with Christ in the resurrection, the second death has no power over them: the bride of the Lamb, living eternally with Him. As we love the truth His Grace is enough to turn our life around. What matters is that we know ("Now we know in part but then face to face.") that it's Christ in us at work, to conform us to Him and in agreement "As labourers together with God."

I don't really think that it's a hate thread. It's sorta like an edgy version of the Speak Your Mind thread without the cookies. This thread has high entertainment value.
Did somebody say cookies?

Years ago I would have said, fantastic, cookies.
Now I see the icing and know I will feel sick if I eat it.
The biscuit base will rot my teeth, and give me a glucose high which will then
lead to a low.

This reminds me of a salvation model that says you are safe no matter what you do,
and there are no consequences to your actions, it is just a play sand pit.

But as the believers were thrown to the lions by nutcase Nero, there is no safe sand pit,
or cuddly belief, it is believe and die, or deny and probably die anyway for daring to believe.

Someone said about God, you worry too much, He has forgiven you.
This belies the attitude, sin is not a problem, it is just who we are, rather than, sin bothers
me, I hate it, I want to walk like Jesus and know the beauty of His ways.

It has always been true, God loves us, but there is so much more to loving people than just
our initial response. God calls us to know love and acceptance from the heart and not just
be polite. Someone said I do not like these people, I am commanded to love them.

We are commanded to like them, to see how we could be sympathetic to their cause and know
what it is like to be them.

My daughters heart expressed this whenever she meets someone, no matter how bad they are
there is hope. But in the end judgement does fall and things are brought into the light. Amen.

ok, if we are going on with this thread..

Peter, what does these scriptures speak to you?

Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto lifeand godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
