Good morning sir, i just woke up. How's the weather there in Australia? I hope you have a nice vacation.

Here's the passage again.

Matthew 19:16-30 The Rich Young Man Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

Enjoy and have a nice day Sir!
Amen and thank you....the weather is nice...

Oh I see, well as EG pointed out, it is a past tense statement. The idea behind it in my opinion is this:

"24Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires."

Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh. <<<

Belonging to Christ = Crucified the flesh.

The flesh is crucified by belonging to Christ.

Said another way: The act of being in Christ, crucified the flesh. Because we now live to God not to the flesh. There is a spiritual reality that has happened when we die to the old man and are reborn in Christ.
crucifying the flesh is to take all cause to remove the sin and rebellion in ones life. Or as Jesus said metaphorically; if your eye offend you then pluck it out...take drastic measures to remove the sin from the lustful eye....Paul describes the spiritual mechanics of this zeal to be clear in 2 Cor. 7-10 & 11........I think it was Peter that said through much suffering (crucifying the flesh), does one cease from sin............be blessed

She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved."

She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her.

You're quoting a Scripture where Paul says he speaks as if one under the law. I am quoting Scripture of one under grace.

Romans 7:1 Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives?

How about you address the Scriptures being discussed instead of simply ignoring them? I think that will make for a better discussion.

Romans 6:11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Are you sure it is an ugly teaching to consider ourselves dead to sin?

C.

Without the understanding of the new creation in Christ and that the new inner man created in righteousness and holiness which is one spirit with the Lord - this whole "those that belong to Christ have crucified the flesh" will be just a blurr to us. Neither will we understand what "we are dead to sin" actually means.

The circumcision of Christ which is where the Holy Spirit "cuts away" the inner man in Christ from the body of flesh ( Col. 2:11 ) which has the power of sin in it ( Rom. 7:17-22 )

Knowing this truth brings the revelation that "those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh." - why? It is as you already said - because we belong to Christ.

Faith and works again.
"oh" how is it so hard to comprehend?
The word = our standard of truth.
The word (Bible) teaches righteousness by faith and that is plainly pointed out by Paul and Jesus and the entire bible.
Their are lots of different views on how we are justified but all that matters is what the Bible has to say about it.

“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift!” 2 Cor 9:15. According to this verse, salvation is a gift. Rom 6:23, underscores this idea when it says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Justification is apparently not something for which we work.

To try and give anything you have or can do for salvation, would not be enough. When you look at the price of our salvation, (Jesus our God and creator gave His life), anything we try to give to pay for this, would be an insult.

The free gift = Salvation (justification). Rom 5:17,18

But can we separate faith and works?
Can we continue in sin that grace might abound?
Many modern Christians are turning more and more to a soft, lenient stance on the subject of law-keeping. They believe God’s love is incompatible with strict rules and penalties for violation. That is a very comfortable doctrine but completely foreign to what the Bible teaches.

Sin or disobedience was never accepted by God, it was never part of Gods plan (past, present or future) and God hates it. Sin destroys everything good and = death.

How strange it is that so many church members have now become apologetic for sin, as though it cannot be prevented from triumphing in the life of a Christian. How dare we misrepresent the power of God’s grace in the gospel! Jesus has already defeated the devil, and no Christian should be intimidated by an inferior, defeated foe. We have no business justifying sin.

It is probably safe to say that the majority of Christians today are resigned to falling short of the moral law. In fact, they are quite satisfied that God doesn’t even expect them to fulfill that law completely, either in the flesh or in the spirit.

The effect of such a teaching is exactly what one would expect—multitudes of emotionally happy, but disobedient, church members who feel that any concern about keeping the commandments is nitpicking and legalistic.

But what does the word teach.
1 Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Read Roms 6 honestly and intelligently = You can't come to the conclution that it is acceptable to practice sin, it teaches that we should overcome sin.

Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Does Jesus save from our sin or in our sin?
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
2Co 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

Complete, total salvation.
I'm not saying we can do any of this ourselves but i am saying we should start believing in the power of Jesus to do it in us.
Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, “I can do all things through Christ ...." does that include works of righteousness, and obedience (works).
1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

By faith we overcome. or faith = works.

1Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Their are many verses that talk about the free gift and the need for our faith to be saved but that doesn't mean that works are against faith. If you want to believe in a faith that has no ability to change you and save you from (overcome) the sins in our life, fine your choice.

But i know that the word teaches that the free gift which i can't earn will Justify me and change me (sanctify) because i believe it can.

Do you have faith in the ability of Christ to do works of righteousness in you, and overcome sin.

Yes when I am saying internal I definitely am meaning an internal spiritual event, yes I do see the scripture states both.

I obtain the growing sanctification by focusing/leaning into, so to speak, the positional sanctification and not by trying to be a better person, but by knowing and being persuaded of who I am in Christ.

Thanks for elaborating further...cause one never knows who is reading:)

To me the evidence is in our spirit bearing witness with THE SPIRIT and crying Abba Father....too many make salvation into this emotional experience when it fact it is a spiritual event......as in born from above and just like a human baby needs growth, maturity and to LEARN how to walk, talk, eat etc....we in like manner begin a new spiritual learning curve in our life.......many reject that sanctification is dual in application....positionally in Christ eternally when born again and then a daily process of growth and maturity which can be hindered, stunted and or accelerated by faithful application of the word or a lack thereof.......

Hmm, well I ask you questions so I can better understand you and receive from you. I haven't ignored you.

In fact, I remember in the past commenting on some comments you wrote basically telling you I felt they were very insightful. Do you remember those?

But I have a question for you:

What would you say to me, if I did what you just did, how would you reply if I called you a false teacher?

Just curious.
Is that all you have..... cheap deflection?

I remember when you first started here. You didn't believe like you do now.

There was a time way back I would have backed you instead of opposing you.

Where would any of us be without our security in Him, it is humbling to know and we are held humble by it.
Lost would be the answer....the following facts give me 100% assurance.....no doubt about it...

a. Jesus begins and finishes our faith
b. Jesus will complete that good work he began in us
c. Jesus will never leave us or forsake us
d. Nothing can seperate us from the love of God
e. We are in the Father's hand
f. We are in Christ's hand
g. We are sealed by the Spirit unto the day of redemption
h. We are.saved to the uttermost
i. We are kept by the power of God
j. We cease from our own labor to enter into his rest
k. Salvation is based upon faith and grace
l. Eternal means eternal when applied unto the life we have in Christ
m. Verb tense proves eternal life that cannot be lost

etc....
