It's good to see when someone in the church is familiar with the experience of the Holy Spirit.
It seems the two things that the church gets their feathers ruffled about is 1) works, and 2) actually experiencing the presence of the Holy Spirit. Both subjects will get you branded as an heretic pretty quickly. Like I say, we're a sad bunch.

1 John 5:1-3 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and CARRYING OUT HIS COMMANDS. This is love for God: TO OBEY HIS COMMANDS. And his commands are not burdensome,

OUR LORD JESUS COMMANDED THE RICH NOT TO STORE UP TREASURES HERE ON EARTH BUT IN HEAVEN (mat 6:19-24, james 5:1-6, 1 tim 6:6-10 & 17-19, luke 12:15-21) AND TO THEREFORE SELL THEIR POSSESSIONS AND TO GIVE THEM TO THE POOR AND FOLLOW HIM(mat 19:16-30) THEN YOU WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
THIS IS WHAT JESUS SAID; “if you love me, you will obey what I command.(john 14:15)
DO YOU LOVE JESUS? THEN SELL YOUR POSSESSIONS AND GIVE IT TO THE POOR AND FOLLOW HIM.
YOU CAN SAY THAT THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE BUT SINCE YOU CLAIM TO BE ALREADY SAVED AND HAVE JESUS LIVING IN YOU, THEN NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
PROVE TO THE WORLD THAT WORKS ARE THE RESULT OR FRUIT OF YOUR SAVING FAITH OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE PROVEN TO BE A LIAR, A HYPOCRITE AND A DECEIVER. AND THIS GOES TO ALL WHO SAY THAT THEIR FAITH “ALONE” SAVED THEM AND “ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED.’
Malachi 3:18 And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.

The New Covenant does not abolish the Law, but it gives us a new way to "keep" it.
meaning, of course, that we really cannot keep the Law, but only attempt to.
But now the Holy Spirit is our helper and our love for Jesus makes it real and we are able to adhere to God's commandments.
Where we fail, Jesus will cover for us.
I know about Penal Substitution but I don't understand how it relates to our negating resposibility to the N.C.
Could you give more detail?
BTW, penal substitution would be the legal view. (God is so offended that a sacrifice was necessary)

(Death is the consequence of sin - Jesus reconciles us to God and frees us from satan.
