Amen...and in believing in Christ's work on the cross and resurrection - we are walking in obedience. That's why it is called being "obedient to the faith".

Being "obedient to the faith" is believing in Christ and His work for us for life and living.

Notice here that even the law-keeping good moral living priests in the Law of Moses need to be "obedient to the faith".

The keeping of the law of Moses is NOT the same as being
"obedient to the faith".

Acts 6:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were
becoming obedient to the faith.

Pagans/Gentiles also need to
be "obedient to the faith" and believe in Christ and what He has done for life and living.

Romans 1:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about
the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake,

All people of all types are called to be "
obedient to the faith" - which is belief in Christ alone for life and living.

Romans 16:26 (NASB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations,
leading to obedience of faith;

His life living in and through us will result in His fruit being manifested in His good works so that people may see the grace and love of our loving father and Lord have for them.

We are to encourage believers in the doing of good works but these are done by the life of Christ in us - not for "keeping us saved". That's an anti-Christ belief system.
Grace,

I HAVE OFTEN SAID that there's a difference between:

OBEDIENCE TO THE LAW
OBEDIENCE OF FAITH

Since you believe in obedience of faith and so do I, how come you never commented on my posts??

Are you going to post 20 verses, or are you going to talk to me??

The problem is the function and role of those works.......capisci
I don't understand what "function" and "role of works" means.
Everything I do I do for God.
Everything i do is a work for God.
I don't know what YOU mean by works...

Actually, I really want to stop damaging my body. My main disease is my smoking addiction, and for that I'm starting to feel convicted about. I'm spending money that I can't afford for an evil product that is ruining my health. I really don't know anything about gluten but know that it is part of the wheat. I am underweight and need to consume all of the calories that I can. Of course, the gluten itself probably doesn't have calories. Lately, I've been avoiding processed foods, particularly vegetables and prepare these fresh. There is a noticeable difference in taste. I've started a vitamin regimen also. It's not all bad with me.
I'm sure we'll all pray for you Tourist.
If you stop smoking you'll gain some weight.
Then you could come to the gym with me and we could work out together.

Really. They say if you quit smoking, within 6 months your lungs are nice an clean again.
My son-in-law did this cold turkey - but the same method doesn't work for everyone.

Try.

Hi FranC,

NO I am not saying we are to live by the civil laws of Moses, actually the opposite. Sorry if it is not written very well and there is a misunderstanding. It was in response to Grace777's argument trying to say that to keep the Sabbath in the old testament means that if someone broke the Sabbath they had to be stoned. I was just saying that this punishment and same punishment also applied under the civil laws of Moses for Israel to the other 10 commandments as well. Now we know that we do not stone people any longer for committing Adultery right? So how can this be an argument for not keeping God's 7th Day Sabbath which is also one of the 10? Let me know if this makes more sense.

God bless[/QUOTE

feast days Lev 23

if one is keeping and abiding in the sabbath rest of Christ 24/7, i would suppose that covers all days of the week, therefore they don't miss any particular day persay, ...Liken to the sabbath, the feast of tabernacles is a feast day found in Lev 23...by abiding in Christ, of whom is our feast of Tabernacles, do we keep that feast of Tabernacles 24/7. Like wise Christ is our passover feast etc.........be blessed

Romans 4:3-5
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

john 3, john 6, how many more do you want?
She will never see the truth as long as...
a. She rejects the words of Paul as the inspired words of Jesus
b. Denies Jesus was born, lived and died under the law which ratified the new covenant and his words must be interpreted in that light
c. Denies that what John wrote are the words of Jesus

I'm afraid for all these people in this thread who are teaching Christians to take false comfort in a faith without works relationship with God.
No one here has done this. You're talking past others, that is all you are doing.

We've warned them, so they will have no excuse on the Day of Judgment when Christ holds them accountable for teaching his people it's okay to have a faith that does nothing.
...and here you sound full of yourself while erecting straw man scenarios.

I agree...

What happens is that when people say things like this - "We must have good works to remain saved".

Those types of words are not indicative of the gospel of the grace of God in Christ and actually reveal a works-based belief system which is contrary to the gospel and this nullifies the grace of Christ from operating in our lives like it was mean to.

Paul said to use "sound words" that can accurately portray faith and the love which are in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

The "origin" of good works is up to the Lord to decide as outwardly the works can look the same to the natural eye and mind of man.

Paul showed us in 1 Cor. 13 that we can give our money to the poor and even give our lives but without love - it profits him nothing. The person receiving these good works is certainly benefiting....:)..

I am all for good works! Works do not save us - Christ alone is the Savior. Get this backwards and we create a religion that nullifies the grace of God needed to do good works that are birthed in Him.

Sometimes we just need to agree to dis-agree too as none of us know things as we ought to know them as Paul says.

But this constant attacking people with personal attacks is all in the flesh and I personally do not want to interact with this type of behavior. This is why I always interact with you. Your behavior is in accordance with the life of Christ that is obviously in you.
Yes Grace. Don't think I haven't noticed that you never answer me.
That's pretty discourteous since I've NEVER attacked you.

I totally disagree with you and you speak to me but not to my face.
That's not very nice.

If you have something to say to me, my name is Fran.

I'm sorry if you have to interact with me

BUT,,, I NEVER said what you claim above and I'm pretty sure you're talking about me - but who can be sure???

"We must have good works to remain saved".

These words could not have come from my mouth because I don't believe it.

I must have said this but you don't listen...

"IF we're saved, we do good works"

I feel no responsibility if you and Others do not like the word "work".
I feel no responsibility if it gets mixed up with the term "works salvation".
It's two totally different concepts.

What I have been saying for all these pages (have given up BTW) is that there are two steps to salvation:

1. Getting saved ........Justification

2. Staying saved........Sanctification

Staying saved means that we live our life for God.
We COOPERATE with Him to live the best way we can.
With the help of the Holy Spirit we dedicate EVERYTHING WE DO to God.
This is what I mean by works.

If people here mean something else by works, well --- that is their problem because they have incorrect theology.

Anyone here could go on the internet and look up
JUSTIFICATION and
SANCTIFICATION

and learn the difference.

We CANNOT be saved and tell Others no further action is necessary.
THIS IS WRONG.
And any Church that teaches this is not a true Church that Jesus would be proud of.

Eveyoner here who feels they "work" for God should be PROUD of their behavior and their actions.
This is what Christians are SUPPOSED to do.

They should not be told that they are proudful and demonstrating their own works.
This is nonsense.

Jesus said to let our good deeds shine before men.
He said that those that do good deeds will be put to His right side at the end time.
He EXPECTS good deeds.

Why do some here reject what JESUS said??

Okay, I see what you are saying, and on the outset this seems fine...then let me ask what does God do for you?

What is the source of your work?

Hebrews 8
For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.

8For he finds fault with them when he says:c

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah,
9not like the covenant that I made with their fathers
on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt.
For they did not continue in my covenant,
and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.
10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws into their minds,
and write them on their hearts,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
11And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor
and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
for they shall all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest.
12For I will be merciful toward their iniquities,
and I will remember their sins no more.”

13In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.
New covenant theology requires obedience to Christ's commands from heart purity, therefore doing the works of righteousness, which Paul said is or reasonable sacrifice. And God offers His part dispensing the power of grace, which teaches us to live godly and soberly in this present world...It's all Jesus, it never was us, but first one must lay down their weapons of sin and rebellion in repentance to get in on the covenant blessing....however to some this truth is undesirable works, that's why they invented Penal Substitution because it negates the responsibility and commitment to a covenant relationship...if either side breaks the covenant it is no longer of effect,,,,again, it takes two (Man and God), working together to obtain a relationship of love (covenant) that CANNOT be obtained by any other means possible.................be blessed

Do you, like, know what righteousness means?????
How could it be counted by anything else...other than faith?????
