John 15:22-24 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be GUILTY OF SIN. Now, however, they have NO EXCUSE FOR THEIR SIN. He who HATES me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.
WHO HATED THE SON AND THE FATHER.
John 14:15 “if you love me, you will obey what I command.
John 14:21,23-24 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
HE WHO DISOBEYS JESUS/GOD HATES GOD AND IS GUILTY OF SIN AND HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR IT...
Romans 8:7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
HE CANNOT OBEY GOD’S COMMANDS BECAUSE HE DOES NOT SUBMIT TO IT.
HE WILL REJECT THE TRUTH FOR THE SAKE OF HIS OWN INTEREST WHERE THE MOST PREVALENT REASON IS GREED, BEING SELF-CENTERED AND SELFISH.
THE BIBLE SPEAKS A LOT ABOUT THIS AND IT’S CONSEQUENCES IN THE FF;
Luke 12:15-21 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against ALL KINDS OF GREED; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘YOU FOOL! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is NOT RICH TOWARD GOD.”
Matthew 6:19-24 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! “No one can serve two masters. Either he will HATE the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. YOU CANNOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY
1 Timothy 6:6-10 But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have WANDERED FROM THE FAITH and pierced themselves with many griefs.
James 5:1-5 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.
1 Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Acts 4:31-37 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT and spoke the word of God boldly. The Believers Share Their Possessions All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they SHARED EVERYTHING THEY HAD. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much GRACE was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses SOLD THEM, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement), sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.
New International Version 1984 Acts 5:1-11 Ananias and Sapphira Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.” When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.” Peter said to her, “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.
THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT THESE BELIEVERS RECEIVED, EMPOWERED THEM TO DO IN ACCORDANCE TO THE TRUTH OF THE SCRIPTURE AND HAVING ONE MIND AND SPIRIT AGREED TO SELL THEIR POSSESSIONS AND SHARE WHATEVER THEY HAVE TO EVERYONE.
ARE WE REALLY SONS OF GOD? DID WE RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH OUR FAITH?(gal 3:14)
SHOULD WE THEN IGNORE OR REJECT THE WORD, THE TEACHINGS AND COMMANDS OF JESUS/GOD?
John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.(Ref john 1:1-3 &14)
Matthew 19:16-26 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
John 6:66-67 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. “YOU DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE TOO, DO YOU?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
