You cannot use Genesis chapter 2 to justify the Sabbath or Sabbath-keeping.

How did I just show you from God's Word that the 7th Day Sabbath was given to Mankind by God in the creation week as part of the FINISHED work of creation? (Gen 2:1-3 and Mark 2:27)? God's Word is amazing you should read it.

Show me from Genesis chapter 2 any command to observe this day. You cannot even show that it was given to man.
Jesus says..."And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath." (Mar 2:27). You have already seen the Hebrew word for rest in Gen 2:2 means to cease from work root meaning Sabbath.
Also, the CONTEXT is BEFORE the fall (sin) of mankind. WOOPS seems I did show you. Maybe you are just not reading the Bible or do not want to open your eyes to God's Word because it goes against your opinion. I do not know about you but I must follow God's Word

I believe law of love was, not sabbath law.
I have a friend believe in sabbath keeping, he was need a Job, then he found a job that he like as accountant, unfortunately he have to work oN saturday, he refused It.

when Jesus Said sabbath is for man not man for sabbath was in the context, His father work Until now
Is not in context to rest. It is all the way around, He work oN sabbath and jew criticized Him for Being work oN sabbath.Remember Paul Said sabbath is shadow of Jesus. How you prove Paul exclude sabbath day. If he meant only sabbath years, why don't he Said so.

Because God blessed the 7th Day of the creation week, God set it apart from all the other days, God made it a Holy day and made this day for mankind (Gen 2:1-3 and Mark 2:17). Before the fall (sin) man followed God because they loved Him.
The problem in the context in Mark 2:17 was that the Jews made the Sabbath a burden and put all these man made rules over the Sabbath so in that no one could keep it. Jesus came to tell them that He was the maker and owner of the Sabbath and it is ok to do good on the Sabbath and this day is set aside as our rest with God. The motive is love and not the letter like the Jews did.
Col 2:17 is not talking about Sabbath years or the 7th Day Sabbath, its talking about the ceremonial high Sabbaths that were connected to Jewish feast days, Holy days and ordinances that pointed to the coming of Jesus. (please read posts 1166 and 1168)

As I understand Gen 2 does not show a 'command to observe it but it is certainly/definitely the 'establishing firmly of a DAY/time intended to be used for our benefit'....as we grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. The sabbath is there from Creation and is a foundational principle for a certain purpose ! to wipe it away is to pull the rug from under your feet.
At creation man would have been similar to a Baby/Infant without much knowledge and could hardly have been expected to understand fully and obey instruction (even just one Gen2v17)....all that comes with 'growing' so that by the time they/mankind reached Exodus/leviticus they would have more comprehension....like Kids starting school....hence the call to assemble on the sabbath ! Has God changed the day ? don't think so.

If one work on saturday to profide food and shelter for HIS famiy is that not a good work, love the family is God law too.

genesis God talking about resting and blessing that day, he do not instruct human to rest. God dan still blessing people white at work.

beta, you and anyone else who tries to teach that the Sabbath and Sabbath-keeping are binding on christian believers , and trying to base the concept on Genesis chapter 2, are abusing Scripture!
Nobody is teaching that....it's how you understand it.
To me Gen 2 is a 'laying down of eternal foundation and principles that would become clearer 'as we mature'. When something is 'holy to a 'holy God' we'd better learn to respect it - is my view ! others are free to choose for themselves....but be aware that disagreeing with God does not make for love, peace and unity...can't happen for those who withdraw themselves from HIS WILL.

Jesus is maker and owner of the 7th Day Sabbath. He came to show us how to keep it and what it means. We are to follow Jesus because he is our example (John 13:15; 1Pet 2:22). Jesus says it is ok to do good on the Sabbath, but we are not to labour or work (business) because there is 6 other days we can do this. The 7th Day he set aside from all the other days as a holy day to rest with God. Yes we keep the Sabbath because we love Jesus and want to follow Him. It is because of love to God that we keep God's Sabbath holy because he asks us to do this as well as to love our neighbor (to do good). God made the 7th Day Sabbath for mankind in the creation week is very clear because he made it for mankind. (Gen 2:1-3; Mark 2:17)

i believe everything we do as long as base on love is good. That is why Jesus work oN sabbath.
in my country, a Lot of low income family, just for simple life, some must work long hour. They do because they love their family
i have a friend work 7 daya a week, Wake up 4 a Clock every day, 2 hour oN bus, Home at 8 PM.

Go and look at posts 1157, 1160, 1166, 1168, 1183, 1209 and 1218. There is well over 150+ bible verses from the Word of God and you say assumptions with no evidence? Well this is an AMAZING thing.... having eyes to see but cannot see and ears to hear but cannot hear? Do you not believe God because the scriptures go against your interpretation? You know we need to live by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matt 4:4). Not just the ones we want to pick and choose because someone says so. Be like the faithful Bereans and study the Word for yourself asking Jesus.
