Thank you Gary. I find it hard to find like minded Christians where I live. New Yorkers are not much for sound Biblical doctrine but I will continue to pray and seek! God Bless.

By the way...Have you given all your stuff away as to not be a hypocrite yet???

I mean, if you believe we all supposed to be poor... is not the next step becoming poor?

If not, then on what basis do you believe it's OK for you to have anything?

I believe that the only church that is worth attending is a bible believing church. You are absolutely correct in saying that truth is found in the Word of God. Glad to have you as a member of our family. Welcome to CC.

Kim111, with this thread you've started you'll learn fast who to ignore, who will put words in your mouth, those who wish to stir up strife, those who don't hold to sound doctrine, and desire to make inflammatory remarks in hopes of engaging the person page after page in a quarrel.

Unfortunately they are on here day and night and live for that behavior.

I disagree with you. I do not think preachers should be poor but I do not think they should be promoting the gospel like it is some pyramid scheme. I believe this casual attitude towards God is not right. We are not to take the Lord's name in vein. This gospel is all about vanity.

I think it's funny that someone who is opposed to having money is going to school to better themselves so they can... make money :cool:

Maybe you can go to that church and help some of the folks there if they are making an idol out of money and stuff

Ever think of that?
Nah, God would never send someone to a place to help people... would He???

Why are you so angry??? I obviously offended you but not really getting all the anger towards me. You disagree with me. Fine. I have no problem with that. You agree with the prosperity gospel. I don't. I took a YEAR researching before I walked away from that kind of church. It is wrong. You don't think so. Fine for you.

Thank you so much! I almost deleted the thread after seeing that there are very angry people on here. I can endure that now I see there are reasonable people on here. God Bless

I'm happy as a pig in the sunshine... well, that's not kosher but you know what I'm saying.

I don't believe in the "prosperity gospel" either but that does not mean God does not want to bless His people with nice stuff.

He just does not want His people putting stuff before Him... No, seriously... is it not possible that the Lord sent you to that church to try and help a few folks if in fact that church teaches money and stuff is what we should worship?

Jus askin, and no I'm not angry...

I believe I was there for a reason. I made it pretty clear about my beliefs but in these 'cult' type churches you are not to question authority. I tried to talk to them about questions I had but I always was basically advised that any negative talk is not acceptable.

FYI. Don't type anything anywhere on this forum that you do not want to stand forever. We cannot DELETE a single word that is more than five (5) minutes old. After that first five minutes, your words are cast in concrete here.

It's hard for people claiming to be following the Lord to reject scripture.

It may be that you need to move to another city / state / country / etc.

Pray for God's direction and be willing to follow wherever He leads...
