I don't think I've ever heard the phrase "a cloak for sin". Does that mean to cover? If so...it would be true wouldn't it Ariel?
Thanks for responding.
I myself have never thought it's a cloak for sin (and I know you are not saying that about me)
I like the NLT verse you have posted.
So is it the life I once lived, that being in sin and apart from God but now coming to Jesus the new life I have been given is one that does not want to sin and be like Jesus is now the real me?
Whats the hidden part all about?

I believe we are to reflect God's love and glory and righteousness in our lives and with our actions. We do this dimly for we see dimly, but one day it will be clear to all and we will have our (now hidden, then revealed) glorified resurrected bodies,

◄ Colossians 3 ►
English Standard Version
1If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
5Put to death therefore what is earthly in you:b sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6On account of these the wrath of God is coming.c 7In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old selfd with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

Need to sticky this post.. amen broWORK OUT is certainly different than WORK FOR. In the first place, there are 3 tenses to salvation. 1. We have been saved from the PENALTY of sin (justification). 2. We are being saved from the POWER of sin (ongoing sanctification). 3. We will be saved from the PRESENCE of sin (glorification). The Greek verb rendered "work out" means "to continually work to bring something to completion or fruition." We do this by actively pursuing the process of ongoing sanctification. Sanctification is the process of being set apart for God's work and being conformed to the image of Christ. This conforming to Christ involves the work of the person, but it is still God working in the believer to produce more of a godly character and life in the person who has already been justified by faith.
The justified person is actively involved in submitting to God's will, resisting sin, seeking holiness, and working to be more godly (1 Thessalonians 4:3,4; 5:14-18; James 4:7; Titus 2:12 etc..). Significantly, sanctification has no bearing on justification. That is, even if we don't live a sinless, perfect life (which we won't) we are still justified by faith in Christ (Romans 5:1). Where justification is a legal declaration that is instantaneous, ongoing sanctification is a process.
My dear Ariel,
Dcon stands up for sinners because he teaches Easy Believism or Cheap Grace.
When one says a person is REQUIRED TO DO NOTHING becasue GOD HAS DONE IT ALL,
He is, in effect, saying that it's OK to sin because our sins are covered.
Does this mean our sins are not covered?
Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time to put into teaching you stuff.
You should learn it before you try to teach thngs to kids...
Let's examine this post logically...
here we have the FALSE conclusion.
Dcon also says that God will continue to work within a believer to sanctify them and will produce good works....ignoring those post of his are you? Like you ignore the verses in my signature?
Premise one
another false conclusion
????? Well most folks know that Jesus covers all sin...but what you believe? Nobody can really figure out.
quite alright, you don't have any heavenly wisdom to teach me.
God has taught me what I need to know and it goes beyond mere words on a page.
One of the most important lesson God has taught me is to listen and to pray and to study the Bible myself.
You may study the Bible, but you get an F on listening skills.
Katy,
It IS of works.
Learn it.
You see.
You yourself say it IS good works!
WE ARE CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS.
Which part of that sentence do you have trouble understanding??
It's a strawmen some people like to use to label folks and claim their opponents teach people it's okay to sin. Its a lie.
No one in this thread teaches that folks are okay in their sins.
We all say God will help His children overcome their sins and His blood forgives sins...not that we encourage or tell people they should sin all they like.
It's a misunderstood phrase used to falsely accuse people.
Used mostly by people who don't understand the Gospel message of grace and want to add works to earn or keep their salvation.
Its you and your team that say we can lose our salvation for not believing In Jesus and or crediting works to satan.. one thing wrong with this statement of yours is doesnt everyone do that befor they get saved ?..........salvation comes at Judgment day.. being saved comes the minute the father decides your ready to recieve his son..His color is starting to show.....another one who believes salvation can be lost...and if lost it has to be kept or earned by something he does or does not do......more fallacy and false gospels.......
Yup and not only that him and his team also agree that there future sins will be forgiven. Because once saved always saved no matter what they do is there reality..My dear Ariel,

To even preach or say that your future sins will be forgiven is taking the cross one step to far..
Jesus did not come to this earth to beat sin and beat the devil just so we could carry on in sin.. Noo he doesnt want us to sin at all he wants us to sin no more...
I really cant see why someone would think this. ?
Maybe just maybe there thinking we will allways fall short or maybe there on the liquor or the pot (weed). i call it weed ology..
i spoke to work colleauge today on the phone we where joikng about and i asked him are you a saint coz he mentioned something about God.I thought of an analogy.
I go to meet a friend. He tells me he just murdered his family.
I say, thats ok, we all do it all the time.
Now am I saying murder is ok and I am happy with it, or it is horrible
you need to go to the police, confess you sin, and take whats coming?
No if I do not do everything to get them to resolve it themselves or
report them to the authorities I am approving of their actions and in some
countries would be regarded as complicit to murder.
So some are so so so so so lax with sin and evil, it is just something you talk
about with your mates, have a laugh and carry on with the day.
So doing things that send you to hell, for eternal torture and damnation should
be just ignored and laughed through? This is not taking sin lightly or being
disrespectful before the Lord and grieving Him?
Am I talking to believers or the lost, because I thought I was with people who
know the cross, conviction of sin and have repented of their sins, with a
commitment to walk like Christ. But maybe this is a different group, and I
got the threads mixed up.
And even worse with believers who claim I am going to hell for daring to
suggest we can walk like Jesus and that is why He died. Eye openning.
