I like your Christ , I do not like your christians. Your christians are so unlike your Christ. Mahatma Gandhi
This quote is an eye opener if we allow it to be, sadly the world feels this way.
What do you think we as christians need to change to be a better witness for Christ? Im talking individually and or as a whole. Please lets not be mean spirited.

For me, the issue with many Christians prior to being saved was their judgement of me and my lifestyle. For sure I deserved righteous judgement, I was a wild child. Thankfully my Aunt and Grandmother let their light shine and never judged me, they just loved me. This was a safe place for me and showed me the Light of Jesus! I thank God for those 2 souls because their actions stood out above the righteous judgement. I always just thought the judgers were hypocrites and pathetic... I tell you I closely scrutinized their lives because of who they professed to be and how much better they thought they were and guess what... they too fell short. We all fall short! In posting this I've thought about how harshly I feel about the jehovahs witness and what its done to destroy my family... perhaps I should practice what I preach... shut up and just be a light shining before them, pray and wait for them to come to their sences... In the words of a very wise Christian woman... silence is golden, but duct tape is silver

We must have positive humility to counteract ...
And totally remove PRIDE AND SELFISHNESS from deep inside our hearts with God's guidance.

See, Pride has been the reason why Satan started it all.
Pride was the reason why Eve got deceived and ate the apple that would make her be like God.
Pride is something we encounter almost every minute.
We notice it in the way people act towards each other, workmates, classmates, even church members and family members and ourselves.

If there was no pride in the first place, there would be no sin at all.
And I'm sure Ghandi won't be able to say those :)

I agree, sometimes churches get caught up in being good and such and don't see ppl for who they really are, and pre-judge them, but i think the real church [us] need to love on everyone and show God's real love!

We have to continually remind ourselves that we have never and will never deserve God's graces. Many Christians act as though they are not in the same boat as the unbeliever. I can struggle with that from time to time but God's grace always brings me back to my utter inability to earn God's favor. A little question for all of you......What do people in heaven and people in hell have in common?
None of them deserves to be in heaven. Peace out, people. :)

Yeah non christians like tossing this quote in our face. It has truth to it, but sheeesh, non-Christians just use it to score points. If they really liked our Christ like they claim to, they'd probably follow him.

If you think about it.....from a sinners point of view, why would you want to know someones christ when the person professing to love him, tears you down, judges you ( righteously of course), tells you all the things wrong with you, all the ways you sin, instead of lifting you up in prayer, and telling you in a way to make you WANT to know this person they profess to love. God loves the unloveable, the un wanted, the lost and broken, and until WE as children of the king, act the way he does, sadly alot of ppl aint gonna want to know him, cause theyre gonna be afraid hes like us. Children of the king should bear a family resemblance right?

People are afraid of what they don't understand.

However, everyone understands love.

My thought on this is that not all christians, but some, are very in your face about what to do and what not to do. It is like a saying i used to hear when i worked in the food industry. People can go out to eat at one place 50 times and have great time every time, but on their 51st visit they have a bad experience that is the one that they remember and will always tell people about.

I think this holds true for christians as well. I have seen some very "interesting" topics brought up just on this website that i look at and think, my goodness if these people are saying these things to non-believers, those people are gonna walk away from them thinking that all christians must think this way and are a bunch of kooks.

If we can put aside our own personal beliefs and just introduce the word kindly and with patience then we would more than likely at least plant the seed of Jesus Christ in them and let the holy spirit take over from there. I know that some of us were raised as a christian but some were not and those who were not probably came to a person they knew to be a christian with questions and a need for answers. It is how we answer those questions that are important.

I believe that most non-christians have a desire for the lord but just don't know how to approach someone about it and feel funny in doing so, like it's embarrasing or something. It is in how we carry ourselves everyday that people notice, and in our attitudes, appearance, expressions. If people know you are an easy person to talk to or just generally friendly then you are more approachable. If people look at you as fanatical then you are not so approachable. I am done rambling hehe Just wanted to put my views out there is all.

look up and smile! God bless

I think a lot of us think too highly of ourselves, think we are so much better than the sinners. We are all sinners, the only difference is, Christians are sinners saved by Grace, the lost world has not been saved. When thinking so highly of ourselves, I think we need to look at the most disgusting person we can think of. For me, it is people who molest children. When we look at them, we need to think, "the Grace of God is the only thing that keeps ME from being that person, not how good I am, but how good GOD'S GRACE is." I used to work as an appliance delivery man. My partner had been saved for quite a while, and I got saved while working there. We delivered to the home of some Sodomites (we call them homosexuals, the Bible calls them Sodomites). It made me sick to be around them, and when we left, I talked awful about them. I had only been saved a month or so at the time. My buddy listened to me rant and rave a bit, the whole time smiling and thumbing through his Bible while I was driving and complaining. He then read the first part of 1 Corinthians 15:10 saying "but for the grace of God I am what I am" telling me that the only thing that made me who I was, and not exactly like those men who I had complained about for 30 minutes, was the Grace of God. Also, one more thing, Much like Easygoing's advice, when I was in the police Academy, our Instructors told us "Police Departments and Agencies are judged based on thier last BAD action or decision." It is true with the Church and Christians also. We are put under a microscope when we profess Christ to the lost and dying world, they are watching us closely to see if we fall, and they will be sure to let us know they see it also.

God bless you for sharing that with us. For me it was letting God reveal the seeds [bad and good] that had been planted in my heart thoughout my life. I had always thought I had forgiven everyone who hurt me, God showed me I still had hidden unforgiveness in my heart for the ones who hurt me the most. I allowed myself to do something I had always thought and been told I shouldn't do. I allowed myself to remember my past. It was only when I started to write my testamony, that God has started the process of healing my heart. Emptying and replacing the bad seed sown there by the things of this world[ hurting words of condemation and rejection, that had been placed there by family, both the family I had been born into, and my christian family when I was saved by the blood of christ, that cleanses all people of sin [of every tongue and nation] who believe Jesus is the son of God, and died covering all sins[past, present and future]. For condemation and rejection[ starting towards myself and others] that had filled my heart, having be placed there without ever having dealt with it, until I allowed myself to go back to the past. I didn't go back by myself, for having been reconciled back to God though Christ, God gently held my hand , and led me ever so carefully back, back to and though the first words ever spoken to me, seed of both good and bad that had been planted in my heart since coming into this world.
thoughout this process, when I remembered bad seed sown by me into others and the many sins I have committed ,the opposer cried guilty [God didn't let go of my hand] Has I allowed God to take me back, he started leading me forward. Has I remembered my own sins, the opposer kept pointing his finger at me while crying guilty, [God didn't let go of my hand] However, the opposer kept pointing at me ,putting all my sins of the past before God , [and me]he kept shouting Guilty, SHE'S GUILTY, [God didn't let go of my hand] Finally, the opposer screamed at us, She's Guilty, LOOK AT HER , SHE SINS EVERY DAY BEFORE YOU. The opposer was right, for my flesh do sin dailly.[God didn't let go of my hand][for we are in this world not of this world]
Finally God spoke. God showed me a written judgement, he didn't expose my sin on it , he exposed his mercy on it. For written on the paper was a list that read guilty of all my sin, those committed in my past, my present, and those yet to be committed while I am in this fleshly body. I kept reading down the list, every word written was guilty! However, God was still holding my hand, God said stop reading down the list, and start looking at and reading what I have written next to it . I listened, and started to read what was written next to the list. Across from every guity, it was written NOT GUILTY, across from every not guilty were the words, THE BLOOD. Then something incredible happened. [ God had his people take me and wash me and put clean linen on me. His people brought me into a room, where there was a table] I wish I could share all this , however, Im almost out of space. God Bless you all, has you keep sowing the seeds of Gods love and mercy, though his son into his kingdom.
Could someone please email this to my inbox, for i think its empty, God bless you all, I love you in Christ!!!

When I was a nonChristian, I didn't like the unloving, condemning, legalistic attitude of Christians.

Even as a non, I could see the contrast between Christ who was humble, and laid down His life, and the Christians who were condemning everyone to hell, and acting as if they had something to do with their own salvation, because of something they did or didn't do, instead of because of God's grace, and judging everyone else, when they were instructed not to. I guess that's the thing that bothered me most. They liked to be better than everyone else, and be right.

But even if those things changed, I don't think it's going to change the worlds view of Christians. Look what they did to Christ, and He was blameless.

People are people...no matter the cloak you put over them or the label you give them....they are still people....they still have dreams, plans, hopes and fears......

As for me.....i want to see people as the Destiny that Christ has placed in each and every person before and after salvation and that we aren't to war against Flesh and Blood but against principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places. For me i accepted Christ at a very early age and have had the knowledge though somewhat limited most of the time until i was able to forgive everyone who ever hurt me or meant harm to me. I can now live Freely and Love everyone as Christ Loves Me! Jeremiah 29 vs 11 Please take time to read it and make it personal. And it was written for us all.If i see someone in a fault(fall) please let me help them up and encourage them that even though there are bad examples of Christ i am told to keep my eyes on Him I am also encouraged to pray for those who act out of ignorance as i do (Ignorance:meaning without knowledge) or from mere immaturity(Immaturity:Youthfulness). We all make mistakes and i know that i am probably a prime example of the chief mistake maker. Forgive Me!

yeah its really disheartening looking on my own walk with God. I can see how others would b able to discredit Jesus for many things i do. *sigh*
