So what and where are they going and they bring pictures back of what they have seen.... I don't think that they just went up for McDonald run... and I know we have satellites up there probably taking pictures too....

last night we saw a penumbral lunar eclipse.

this is impossible if the world is flat.

the "flat-thinking" explanation for lunar eclipses ((and the phases of the moon)) is a geometry-defying mishmash of hand waving suggesting that there is a mysterious object circling around in the sky that blocks our view of the moon but is otherwise completely invisible when not directly between line-of-sight from the ground to the moon. this is necessary in the flat paradigm because the earth does not cast a shadow in their world, the moon does not orbit anything, but they can't claim that NASA is fabricating what every eye on earth sees every night as the moon appears in the sky, waxing and waning, and sometimes passing through the earth's ((very real)) shadow.

while this idea is ridiculous for a number of reasons, particularly because the geometry is impossible, it is at least a semi-plausible reconciliation of the obvious fact that the moon exhibits phases. lunar eclipses in general however are not at all explained by such an object, because during an eclipse the moon is darkened, not blocked from view. even worse for the legitimacy of "flat thought" is the case which occured in full view of a few billion people last night -- a penumbral eclipse.

the earth's shadow has two parts -- a dark, central cone of full shadow, the umbra, and a lighter, outer cone of partial shadow, the penumbra. a full eclipse occurs when the moon passes through the umbra, and the moon appears dark reddish from the earth. in a penumbral eclipse the moon passes only through the outer, lighter shadow, and is not nearly as visibly darkened.

the problem for flat-thought is that a "mysterious ((and impossible)) shadow object" does not have a penumbra. it's not casting a shadow, it's causing an obstruction. so there's no such thing as a penumbral eclipse in flat-world.

but billions of eyes, if they looked up last night, saw for themselves the truth.
