These verses proves the law in the Old Testament is not abolished!
These are not Levitical Laws.
All Levitical Laws no longer can be practiced, which includes tithing.

IF, and only if, you are talking about the pastor-run churches that DEMAND tithes, then I am in agreement with you.
I think that MOST believers would be.

The problem is, you are NOT dealing out "common sense and Biblical truth".... you are dealing out your own pre-conceived notion that ALL churches that have paid preachers, buildings, etc are in that same category.. This is simply NOT TRUE.

I have found that the majority of churches have some type of program dedicated to do "benevolence" work. Guess where those funds come from? The free will giving of the body...

Our church routinely has a fund of somewhere around $80,000 dollars per year, and it is usually depleted sometime around 10 months into the year. We also do financial counseling for those that have gotten into a financial bind through bad decisions and money management. (give them a fish, or TEACH them to fish) When the fund runs dry, money from other budgeted funds are transferred over to cover the shortfall. This is in a church with about 900 members. Yes, we're really soaking the poor, aren't we.

Your obvious belief that only YOU hold the truth about how the ecclesia should be "done" makes it very difficult to have a discussion with you. You should open your mind to the fact that only a relative FEW churches are as you picture them. The problem is that those few are usually on television, spreading their doctrine of "doctrinal theft". It seems that these are the only examples you have of what churches really are.
I strongly suggest you get off your couch, and go out into the world and experience the "good" churches. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Blessings....
That's really interesting.
In my 30 plus years and my many churches, I've never been in one that gave anything remotely close to what you say.
Your church is extraordinary, no doubt about it.

I have no problem with proclaiming the truth... but there is a way to do it that will reap rewards, and there is a way that will instantly close peoples' ears to anything you have to say. I suspect that has been the cause of YET's problems.

If our goal is to lovingly bring ourselves and others into a closer walk with Jesus, there is a way to do that.

Getting in someone's face and telling them they are apostate sinners, bound for hell if they don't change their ways is not the way to do it. Jesus only did that one time, and that was to make a point about those that were profiting from "fleecing" the temple worshippers.
"Fleecing the temple worshipers".
Isn't that what all tithing churches are doing today?

****know tithing is good---Hebrews 7---Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek---this was before the law----Christ received tithes through Melchizedek----giving 10% is just the starting place being under Grace----when people talk against tithing they may not want to give---only about 30% of the Church tithes---imagine running your household budget on only 30% of what you have now...
Now what does running a church have to do with tithing?
Please, give us a Bible lesson on this.

Running a church requires money. If not tithing then financial support of some kind.

I agree.
It requires money.
So start digging into your pocket to pay for it.

My wife and I both tithe to support our church. We don't feel compelled to do this as complying out of some biblical requirement but only do so because we feel it is the right thing to do. You should support Christian causes as the Holy Spirit leads you do so. It might be 1%, 10% or 100%. Support may also take the form of time and service in the support of others less fortunate.

...as the Holy Spirit leads. Agreed.

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. -2 Cor 9:7

it's one thing to decide to give 10%. It's another thing to tell everyone else they are responsible to.

It's still another thing to tell everyone, as many tithing proponents do, that people are responsible to because of Mal 3:10. That was O.T. law, and at that time there were 3 types of tithes required for those in livestock/agricultural occupations.

Why do you call it a tithe?
Why don't you call it what it is, a donation, or dues if you are a member.
Your church is a business.
It needs to make money to survive.

I read an article in Charisma magazine back 2001. What I'm about to tell you

may shock you. It said that 75% of Evangelical Christians don't pay tithes.
People who don't pay tithes are cheating themselves out of a blessing
and are also disobedient to God's Word. There's rewards for obeying God.
People refer to heaven as the promise land. You don't have to wait to
go to heaven to get blessed. Those who love the Lord and obey His
commands will be blessed. Malachi9:10 Bring all the tithes into the
storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now
in this, Says the Lord of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows
of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not
be room enough to receive it. People need to stop playing games
and get serious about serving God. God ain't the one to be playing games
with. Study God's Word daily.
Learn it, Live it, and Obey.

I call it a tithe because it is based on biblical principal. A church doesn't need to make money to survive but rather needs money to operate any physical plant where the members congregate. What is most important is whether said church is an effective instrument of God to serve His purposes. Often this takes money to help those who are less fortunate. Tithing is a form of discipline.

Okay, I'm not here to try and defeat you in any way.
Is your church incorporated?
If so, then it's not even God's church, it's owned by the government.
But that's okay, as long as you are happy with it.

I'm not sure exactly what your problem is but I've concluded that to continue to respond to you is a total waste of my precious time.

A tithe is 10% of your increase. If your increase is money, then you tithe money. If it is crops, then you tithe crops.

Tithing is also part of OT law. As law, it has been superseded.

Under the law, God wanted His 10%.

Under Christ, we are to give it ALL (100%) to Him.

I don't know how precious your time is, but I read all 954 posts up to this point to say what I say.
How many have you read?
Maybe your time is just too precious to even answer me.

I agree.
I didn't want to stand alone on this issue as though I am causing trouble.
But I've read several issues this past year and I don't like what they say at all.

Ive read quite a few of their articles that are way out on left field. Yes they have some good ones but they would not be something I would support. Too much that I disagree with.
