It's a sin only if the purpose is to look like a man/woman. Dressing in drag is wrong and perverted..There is NOTHING wrong with women wearing men's sweats and t-shirts. Like I said to Jenny, if a woman wore a man's jock strap, then obviously that's a perversion. I wear men's sweats and t-shirts all the time, simply for the comfort value. Am I sinning? NOPE.

I never said it was okay for someone to wear the clothing of their spouse? My argument was that wearing the clothing of the opposite gender is a sin.

Theres two problems with your posts, one is context, as this thread is about someone who rebels against gender and sexuality as stated in the OP, claiming that Christians need to evolve with these issues. And the other is.... also context, as you are making a claim about the law without providing any context to back it up.

I wasnt arguing against someones spouse wearing the clothing of their spouse, and have not stated my opinions on the issue. I came here to discuss the topic of the thread itself.

Hello.
I am new to the Christian faith. My parents are Christian and in the ministry.
I am Christian also, believing deeply in the redemptive power of Jesus Christ.
I also happen to identify as gender fluid. I have found a church that is welcoming. I have also been blessed to find Christian literature that is affirming.
I am frustrated, however, to find myself amongst the minority in the Christian community. I think it is so sad that the church remains ignorant on issues of sexual orientation and gender.
I just wanted to share.

I know what the thread is about. :) By his own admission, the OP identifies as gender fluid, whatever that is. Problem is, if he was born a boy and has a wanker, then obviously he is male.If he has both male AND female parts, then I dunno about that. He also claims to have found Christian literature which supposedly affirms his belief in gender fluidity. I find THAT impossible to believe.Like Tintin said, there is a huge difference between a guy wearing women's dresses, and a woman wearing men's clothes for the sake of comfort. The OP also wishes that the church would accept his lifestyle. Any church worth it's salt, will never do that. They may welcome LGBT's into their church but they WILL NOT accept or condone that lifestyle.

And also, the OP's claim that they have read Christian literature that supports their gender idea, sounds an awful lot like what that MayDanna person said when she was here.. Just sayin'..

Again, who decides what applies and what does not? Jesus never said "these laws apply and these don't, so who gave you your list of which laws are still in use and which may be ignored?

Its not as much a matter of clothes as intent of the heart. If you are trying to be male when you aren't or trying to be female when you aren't that is against Gods plan for your life, plain and simple. God designed us to be either male or female. To try and change that is saying God made a mistake. Its intent. And someone who walks a path away from Gods will will never have peace and never be truly happy.

That I agree with. ... but YB seemed to disagree strongly when I said God isn't concerned with what clothes we wear

YB comes at this from a different perspective than the rest of us. He knows the struggle personally and is very sincere in trying to keep anyone from the struggle and bondage he went though. I always respect his opinion and advice because he has been there. We cant all reach out in the same way he can. He has a testimony and I respect that.

A few quick points:

1. WWJD said a lot of very wise and biblical things in her first post in the thread.

2. WWJD made one weird sounding statement, about clothing, which she really should have just written more carefully.
(The way she wrote that statement, probably in a hurry, wasn't precisely what she meant.)

3. The statement above, by Ladybug, pretty much gets to the heart of it, and says it nicely.

4. Let's round this out by taking a quick look at historical context.

When the bible says not to wear clothes of the opposite gender, we need historical context.

A. First, this referred to some specific ways of dressing, which would be clearly identified as "opposite gender" in that culture.

B. Next, people would have understood THE BROADER CONTEXT of dressing, intentionally, as "opposite gender"

-- There WERE cross-dressing, gay, transexuals in that time period.
-- Once again... there WERE cross-dressng, gay, transexuals in that time period
-- This was well known in the pagan nations
-- This was often part of pagan religious ceremonies, and temple worship
-- There were plenty of people, in pagan cultures, with what WE could called "gender identity issues".
-- ALL OF THIS WAS WELL KNOWN TO THE ANCIENT ISRAELITES
-- THIS WAS EVEN ADDRESSED IN OTHER SCRIPTURES, IN VARIOUS WAYS

From historical context, we can easily see God was just telling people to STAY AWAY from homosexuality, and all of the "gender identity" weirdness, and just KEEP IT OUT OF ISRAEL.

It had nothing to do with anything harmless or innocuous, like a girl wearing her boyfriend's shirt.
It was, historically, dealing with homosexuality and "gender identity" issues.

Yes, this and also fertility cults. As for the gender identity weirdness, there weren't labels us such and they weren't considered lifestyles as such, but some people definitely engaged in abnormal sexual practices.

I'll make it simple.

There is one sexuality. Everything else is sinful.

There are two sexes. Everything else is either a mental illness or a sign you've gone to college recently.

I just wanted to share.
Some percentage of the population far smaller than 1% has some kind of either genetic or biological abnormality related to their gender-identifying parts. But for most of us, it is pretty easy to go to the bathroom and check ourselves out and figure out what we are. If someone has let a doctor do some work on them, it might be more difficult. But even then, a scientist could take our cells and look for either XX or XY chromosomes, unless there is a genetic abnormality, and figure out what we are.

Why should Christians be affirming of 'gender fluidity'? If a man came to you and sincerely said, "I think I am a donkey", which would be more loving, to encourage him in his delusion or to try to convince him that he is a man. The man in this scenario has a problem with his mind, or his soul. He's not a donkey. Why should it be considered loving to support the gender-confused in their confusion. Johns Hopskins, which was an innovator in transgender assignment surgery stopped doing it because they saw that they were hurting people, not helping people, and their victim's psychological state worsened. Suicide rates are really high for those who go through these surgeries.

Be what God made you.

In the Bible, we learn that all men who dress as women and all women who dress as men are an abomination to the LORD. Why would a Christian do it if God doesn't like it?

Live your life to please God. Surrender this area of your life. Just let it go. Be what God made you to be.

It's this crazy mixed up world. It's become fashionable to question your gender.

I never thought I would say this but at least with homosexuality, people are
definite about their sexuality, they either prefer men or women etc and you
know where you stand with them. Not saying it's right but at least they have
made up their minds.

But in schools now they are messing up kids so much that in years to come
people won't even know what male and female means. Everyone will be gender
neutral, it's already happening.

What a load of cows backside! (I would use the word bull but that isn't gender neutral!)

Oh Lord we see the bible prophesies coming ever closer. It's no wonder that you decided to
destroy this world when you return and create a new heaven and earth. The old world
wont be worth living on any more. Who wants to live on a planet which is a cross between
1984 and a gender less, robotic, micro chipped, thought controlled, bound up society.

Its no wonder people voted for the Brexit and Trump.

I think people of today are facing so many choices in every area of life. We're told that we can do anything. I'm not really surprised that some people are misinterpreting this and believes it includes everything, even gender.

If, after looking into your breeches, you still don't know what gender you are, you can take a blood test at the doctor's office and they can tell you what your DNA says. Contrary to modern belief, gender is not assigned at birth, it's assigned at conceptiong by the One Who Formed You in your mother's womb. It would be best to make your peace with that and move on.
If, after all that you are still confused, you may have body disphoria or a neurological problem or demon oppression.
None of the people here are telling you all that they have because "we don't know" or "we hate", we tell the truth because we love all people and want you to seek out God in your life. Whether the truth hurts or not.
