Yea they called it the G8 which stood for 8th generation grand prix and it was meant to compete with bmw's, lexus and the like of top luxury performance buyers but the year they released it GM had financial woes so it only lasted for the 08-09 yrs and then was put on the shelf.....The cool thing is it's an Australian Holden Commodore-GM import so they still made them but only released it in the US around 2011 as a Chevy Caprice PPV -Police patrol vehicle....so you can only get it if you know police vehicle resellers or a dealer willing to sell you one brand new as a "detective unit" w/o all the lights/ram bars/police equipment stuff....
I like the car b/c of its built on the GM zeta platform which was used on the Camaro and gives tight suspension for cornering....
This chevy caprice is built on the same platform but extended a few inches longer than the g8 (basically the same car though overall).....they say to be cautious buying police cars b/c some of them see a lot of idle time and abuse which can shorten the life of the car/engine but the police car engines are tuned well for performance along with stiffer suspension than regular cars....so you can really have responsive handling in these cars...compared to civilian ones...
