A Sad Irony with my Father

Not sure why I'm creating a new thread for this, but felt compelled to share anyway.

My Dad was going to come out today to visit us and his 5 grandkids, one of which he hasn't met yet. But he emailed me yesterday and said he couldn't come out because he was so grieved by the election results. He said he was grieved for what would happen to his children and grandchildren in the future.

Yet he decided to go back on his word to come see his grandchildren because the election grieved him so much. What is going to grieve his grandkids more?

IMO, that's a pretty lousy and lame excuse to not come see his grandkids.. Your father is being petty and selfish.. Not to mention inconsiderate of you and his grandkids. :/

There will always be people who don't agree with election result, but I've gotta say, the immaturity and emotional fragility I've seen this time around far exceeds any I've seen in the past. It's mind-blowing.

Just my opinion: That was a sorry excuse not to come visit his you and his grandkids.
