So I been to an AG Pentecostal church all my life. They always taught me "Halloween is the devils Holiday". My church was 100% against celebrating Halloween and "forbade and prohibited" us young children from ever participating in it. I honestly never had a problem with it, I watch scary movies and would of always have wanted to go trick or treating. However I know some Christians celebrate it because like me they don't see it as that big of a deal and they don't do it with the intent of "celebrating the devil". Seriously you're dressing up in silly costumes asking for candy. So I just want to ask, which side is right or wrong. Or is there a line in the middle? I understand other Christians have slightly different beliefs then my church, but I never celebrated it because I was told since a young age never to do so, but I do see Christians here who say they have. I's fine just confused as to what the real answer is to this Halloween thing.

You will find many mixed opinions on this..I can already tell you that this will end in a huge argument.
Ive stopped celebrating Halloween for multiple reasons..Not just so much because its Pagan but also many other things. If you take it seriously you cannot celebrate Thanksgiving,Christmas,Easter,New Years,.. nothing
After sitting myself down I dont really feel comfortable celebrating Halloween but I still like the candy and theres no way u will get me away from that lol!!
Best is to pray about it for yourself. Many celebrate it, many dont. Its a lot of controversy.

The problem with my church is, they say Halloween is the worst day of the year but celebrated thanksgiving (as a giving thanks to God type of day) and celebrate Christmas as the birth of Jesus (oh do they hype it up), they hate Easter and call it "Resurrection Day". It's the way I grew up that it's weird to see other Christians beliefs on it.

Hi Socreta93, maby you should look behind the beginning of Halloween! I think in the web you will find many informations. As somebody who follow the Lord Jesus Christ you should make then a decision. To answer your question I personell find it wrong to celebrate Halloween, even it looks like an funny event for many people which dont know the background.

I used to celebrate it & stopped as I got older. After you learn about the horrific pagan traditions it's hard to view it the same anymore.

most Churches say that.. Be glad I am not in your Church. Saying Halloween is evil and celebrating Easter (where eggs where coloured in Babies blood for Baal) and all the other things calling it ''Christian or Christianised' is serving two masters

If you are celebrating it with the intent of glorifying satanic things, then, yes, it is wrong.

If you are celebrating it as 99% of the US population does, as an opportunity for kids to dress up in costumes and go "trick or treating", then, no.

God judges us for what is in our heart... our INTENT.

This is along the same line as "can a Christian be possessed by the devil"....

"He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world".....

Personally, I'd rather see kids dressed up as ninja turtles or Ironman, instead of "ghosts and goblins" but that's just me. It's still just a costume, and most kids have no idea what the "origins" of Halloween are.

I'm so happy to see this Demi. It astonishes me to see those who identify themselves in Christ, knowingly, happily practice these rituals and celebrate these days. It's got nothing to do with being a perfect christian or reading your bible 24/7 as the argument often strays too, but stating the obvious. If you know better after much study, if you call yourself a christian you'd have a full conscious understanding of the nature of these days and the true meaning behind them. As such, being a christian you'd want to divorce yourself from them completely. The only thing that I can amount people still celebrating these days while saying they're a follower of Christ, is just ignorance about the subject matter or they're half hearted in their practices in following Christ. Either way the answer is to keep putting the word out there and continue praying for them that they come to know Christ in a much deeper meaningful way where they learn to do everything for Him.

Halloween just all other holidays in America are pagan even birth days have pagan origins but you see it's the heart behind the holiday that makes it good or evil just as the enemy takes what God meant as good and makes it evil so does God take what the enemy made for evil and makes it good.

If the church forbids halloween because it's pagan and evil then i sure hope they don't celebrate thanksgiving christmas birthdays mother and fathers days or even new years or else they only contradict themselves.

I just cant have a clear conscience with it. The only good thing about Halloween is that i got a chance to try to get ppl to send me candy bars!! lol . I rather celebrate a bit less..than more. I dont wanna stand before God some day and him asking me bout goin to Church on a Pagan day and taking the last supper unrighteous like many do. People have called me ''catholic'' and all sorts for fasting before that and ''Pharisee'' and ''religious'' for not celebrating like others on Christmas etc..

No one should look down you for not celebrating halloween or not going to church on a pagan day or anything like that, you do so out of respect for God and that alone is worth applauding.

That's how the enemy comes into the picture. "It's only this, it won't really matter, it doesn't mean anything."

In our sunday school they are. Anytime a pagan day is coming up and society will be infiltrated with the enemy on display in every shop window and essentially everywhere they turn, the church takes steps to educate their youth on what the meaning is and how it should be responded too. If the parents are christians, they should make it their business to know the origins of that day and attempt to follow Christ instead, their children are only going to follow their example. Further still, if their school or parents don't care enough to teach them about the true meaning of that day, it doesn't justify them following it.

Personally I don't celebrate Halloween, most see it as harmless but it's the thin
edge of the occult in my opinion. Many children have nightmares and problems
around Halloween with all the scary masks and custumes. Why would you want to
scare the living daylights out of a young child in the name of tradition.

Having said that if someone wants to eat chocolate shaped bats etc then it's just
chocolate. I think each person has to decide for themselves.

I hate trick or treat, I'm not sure how it is in the US, but over in the UK it's a real
nuisance to elderly people. Plus when kids go knocking on strangers door's who knows
what kind of a person is behind the door. Sometimes properties also get vandalised here
in the UK, as many see it as an extension of mischievous night which is 4th November
over here.

Our church puts on a kids party on Halloween, they usually have a theme of some sort
but it's not a Halloween party. It's a way of making sure the children don't feel left out
and it ensures they have fun without having to get into the whole Halloween saga.

It's worth it though Blain. Fitting in with the crowd or society vs loving God is not even a question on the table for me.
