I actually want to write a post or a thread or something about the level of insensitivity in american society these days. Its off the charts. Maybe I will, maybe I won't... I will know when I'm less busy I guess lol. Or someone else could do it...

I wouldn't say insensitivity, I'd say oversensitivity. It's quite annoying. Everyone is offended by something.
My mother-in-law actually had quite a bit to say about the subject, when I was at a meeting with her. She said that in a world where everyone is so "offendable", we, as Christians, need to get to a point in our lives where we are "unoffendable". I agree with her. What part of being offended, is Christ-like?

We're talking about two different things. Zeroturbulence is referring to people being insensitive to other members. Cyber bullies preaching religious rhetoric, hurting and condemning people in the forums. It's hard to just sit by and watch them abuse other Christians. Jesus certainly did not ignore the Scribes & Pharisees making folks feel worthless and ashamed. Ya know? That's very damaging.

You're referring to being oversensitive or being offended at things directed at us personally. And in that regard, I agree with you. We should learn to forgive our "enemies" and bless & love them. I see a lot of people doing just that.

As for the insensitivity ZT is talking about, that should be addressed.

Maturity is the art of living in peace with what we cannot change, the courage to change what should be changed and the wisdom to know the difference.

Makes me think I still have some growing up to do. And if I missed correcting a typo, just be glad you can't see all the ones I did manage to correct.

Yes, they're different but I actually feel they are related because it all centers around self-righteousness. Take for example the stories of people who've been attacked because they parked in a handicapped space and didn't have any visible handicap. They were attacked because someone was offended that they parked there and didn't seem to have a handicap. One disabled war veteran found a nasty note on his windshield and another woman had coffee thrown at her car. Both had legitimate reasons for parking there and had their handicap parking placards on display. These were both articles on the news.

When I was young, my siblings & I used pillow cases or huge grocery bags to collect our Halloween candy. It was serious business and we didn't stop going door to door till about 10 o'clock or when everyone finally shut their lights off. Thank God our mother made us put most of it in the fridge and eat a little at a time.

Wow that brings back memories, Auntie! We did the same thing when I was a kid. Now all the kids here go to the mall or the big shopping centers.

Every place I go into on Halloween, whether its the bank, grocery store, mall, gas station, convenience store, etc., I say, "Trick or treat!" Because most of them give away candy.

She fainted today and no one knows why. They're running a bunch of tests, and I'm not in the best frame of mind right now.

I had no idea this person was not a real moderator. They were available on the chat listing under the moderator heading. After I had posted, this person contacted me to clarify why no action was taken.

This is why we don't make assumptions on people's posts. We had no idea what happened. Sorry you had to go through that though Rachel. And I suppose they will take action next time.

Oh no. I hope she's okay, Kim. I just read today that fainting is the most common ailment among those 70 and older and that its usually nothing more than poor circulation, but it can also be caused by dehydration or exhaustion among other things.

I have had a migraine for the last few days or so I ate pork I dont normally eat
pork why? why did I do that? The smell was nauseating so was the taste
but i was trying not to offend my parents but #wontbedoingthatagain#
feeling a lil sick I ate pork cause I could tell they were being hassled
by me not eating pork and having to buy other meat anyway I just wont next time

It looks like extreme dehydration and exhaustion were the major causes. My Mom is extremely active... getting her to slow down is going to be a challenge. But, I'm so thankful that it wasn't anything life-threatening!

The first thought was that she had a stroke, but, after all the tests came back--you were probably right, Zero!

I keep telling my mom to take a baby aspirin everyday to prevent stroke and heart attack but she and my aunt won't take it because they say it might upset their stomach even though I told them that all they have to do is take a sip of water so it doesn't sit on the lining of the stomach (I learned that from watching Dr. Oz one day).

Well now my mom is finally taking it (it took my aunt getting a stroke to convince her). You might want to have your parents take it as well if they aren't already. My mom and my aunt aren't very active. My aunt takes a walk everyday but it really takes vigorous exercise to do any good. It has to be intense enough to flush out the toxins in the blood.

not making fun of your Aunt but she reminds me of my mum shes like scared of the treadmill go past level/ speed level 1 and woah shes over doing it its really funny she felt no matter how much i 'tried' to convince her like 1/4 of a km/kilometre isnt far and she should do more than 5- 10 minutes on the slowest setting shes like stubbornly thinking thats fine. lol

Pig meal (the food they feed pigs, not meal made from pigs) is high in salt - as in, VERY high in salt, to make them gain weight really fast. Pork is very high in sodium as a result. If you have high blood pressure and you eat a pork barbecue sandwich you can get a headache from it. I had a friend who couldn't eat sausage because it would give him a headache.
