That's actually what this started out as. Ifyou research it, you'll find that an encouragement was given that generated a books worth of response bc I touched on something that some others dont want to deal.

I really am surprised myself at what it became.

No worries.

Hopefully things are on their way to getting back on track.

Well this is what always happens whenever someone takes what could be perceived as an extreme attitude about something... whether it be religion or politics... or whether Kewpie dolls are creepy or not.

It wasn't directed at you and I agree that scripture is certainly not legalism... but... when somebody says you will go to hell if you don't.... that's legalism.

You will go to hell if you don't repent and surrender to Jesus, is NOT legalism. It's our commission.

Should you walk around telling people that they're going to hell? I really do think that you should be more tactful than that. However, that is the whole point of such a brutal death on the cross. Jesus talked about hell more than any other subject.

If we can't stand boldly now, what will we do when the persecution comes. We'll fail.

Let me offer you some friendly advice: take it to the Bible Discussion Forum. There is no need to continue this topic here. :)

Who said not repenting was legalism? I sure didn't. If you read the post I quoted, you'd see that I meant that when someone says one will go to hell for not evangelizing, that is legalism.

Legalism

noun 1. strict adherence, or the principle of strict adherence, to law or prescription, especially to the letter rather than the spirit.

2. Theology.
  • the doctrine that salvation is gained through good works.
  • the judging of conduct in terms of adherence to precise laws.

But I should point out that when someone comes to you trying to preach a different religion, like mormonism.... I do believe there might be more of a moral obligation to correct them... but I don't think one will go to hell if they don't. :p
Ah, mkay.

What I was getting at was that if someone doesn't care about the lost enough to minister to them with whatever gifts of ministering God has given them, something is terribly wrong with their heart. And sometimes, God asks people to get out of their normal comfort zones and give someone a stern warning, not to judge them, but to warn them that God will, because anything that displaces God in a person's life is idolatry.

If people hadn't done that in my life, I honestly am not sure I would be saved today. Some people are drawn to Christ by His sheer love and healing, but others have to be hit over the head with a brimstone two-by-four, which I most certainly did. Witnessing methods are as varied as individuals, but all are powerful if being led by the Holy Spirit.

The thing about an encounter with Mormon/JW missionaries is that spiritual talk is wide open fair game, a relatively rare opportunity in the Western world. You can broach the subject without seeming rude or pushy at all, and that puts it a lot more into most people's comfort zones than approaching a stranger on the streets would.

I'm watching Supergirl for the first time (the tv show). It looks pretty good. Anyone else watch it? :D

Don't ask me questions yet because I've only been watching it for like 5 minutes... and I'm frying some rice at the same time.

I've watched the show. I am hoping that it going to a new network will make the series better. It has potential, but could be a lot better. I won't discuss details until you get a few shows in.

Cool! I have to admit, you were about the last person I expected to be watching it lol. But I'm glad it is you. :) I usually find tv shows to be meh, with maybe one or two exceptions.. Anyway, it ended like two minutes later so I'll have to catch up online or something..

On another note... I just re-discovered the young adults forum! I know I'm not a young adult anymore but maybe I can share my twisted, absurd ideas about life.

I remember when I was a kid the Robocop TV series was pretty good.

That's the only superhero TV show I can recall that was anywhere NEAR good. Unless we count cartoons, in which case Batman: The Animated Series was excellent for the first two seasons.

Yes! I love that series!
