All I have to say is that for a young mom of 3 small children, being the witness of Christ to those small children; protecting them, training them, and loving them like God loves his children, is her first and most important calling. Her ministry should be centered on her family. There would be nothing spiritual or godly about her neglecting her family to do "more spiritual" things.
I agree, but you don't have to neglect and leave your children to answer the door and give a quick word.
Having said that. It would not be appropriate for her to answer and engage the young men missionaries, as Timothy warns of those who go two by two targeting women. Notice they do most of their work in the day when the menare working. Devils!
But reaching out to other women is certainly her responsibility. She wants to try a business idea.
I watch ladies do that all the time.

trouble with this thread is its too long... wonder wont there be a streams2 so those of us who cant catch up dont have to search too many pp... i thot it was only p. 1000 something, then i see its 2000+... i cant even remember if its 2345, 2567 or 2789. i only see it moves so fast, and not remember wc parts read and not read after a few days-).

I recently did the same. Photobucket seems to have a mind of its own now! I had to fight with it to do the action I requested. It would take sometimes over 20 minutes just to edit a photo. So I removed all my pictures and left.

I'm sure it's different in most areas of the country, but during the Summer months here I see A lot of Mormon boys walking around my city in different places. They always wear white dress shirt's, black ties and black pants. They have these kids who look like their 15 walking around in neighborhoods I wouldn't want my kid walking around in. A couple of years ago I was outside with my kids, beautiful day, a couple neighbors were out and these two Mormon boys walk by my house. Hello Ma'am to both me and my neighbor, Hello. So one boys asks me if he can ask me a question? Yes, those little lights you have in your front yard, how do you make them work? They're solar. Oh wow, really? Yes, I asked them, haven't you ever seen them before? Oh no, we're not from Pennsylvania, they're from somewhere in the west. Oh ok, boys it's about 80 degrees, you're going to dehydrate. Would you two like a bottle of water. Yes Ma'am, please. I gave them water and I said sit down and cool off, they sat on my porch. Very polite, yes ma'am this or no ma'am. No religious talk at all. I gave them water when they left and said make sure to take breaks okay? Yes, ma'am.
I don't know much about the Mormon religion or Jehovahs Witnesses, but I give them a lot of credit for going around and probably getting rude comments and door slammed in their faces a lot.
My 55 year old Brother actually made a friend with one of the Mormon boys that walks around here in the Summer. He talked to this young man and found out he is in college and his life and family. My brother has 3 Son's, one in college and he told him, if you were my Son in a town you've never been to I'd want someone looking out for him. My Brother and his wife have taken this young man out to dinner for five years now. He emails my Brother and let's him know he's doing. My Brother is Catholic, he doesn't discuss religion much. He has a strong faith, but that's he shows his love of Jesus.
I'm not saying your wrong. I'm saying I also don't feel that it's my place to tell someone of a different religion how to live their lives. I do respect your opinion, I guess we all do thing's our own way and it's not up to us to say who goes to Heaven or Hell. God Bless.

I'm in the market for a new photo repository. Choosing the right one is like choosing a romantic partner, and I don't have very good luck with either. Websites, like women, need to meet certain criteria for me to accept them. I'm too old for the fun and fast ones. I'm too out of the loop for the trendy ones. I need the website equivalent of a gentle hand, snarky humor, and a good turkey sammich.
Sorry I'm late to the party, but I just wanted to drop some thoughts about witnessing to others. Yes, it's true that we will be persecuted... And all too often, it seems we are persecuted... by other Christians.
One mistake I believe Christians often make is believing that other Christians must witness in exactly the same way as they do. Ironically, when you try to tell those same people about your ministry interests, they then quote the passage that says that when you do good deeds, your left hand shouldn't know what your right hand is doing (Matt. 6:3) and you're caught in a Catch 22. People like that condemn you for "not doing anything for the Lord" and then condemn you when you try to explain what you're doing.
Many of us have our own style of witnessing, and too many Christians forget that.
I, for one, loathe "Christian One Night Stands"--witnessing that consists of basically grabbing someone and pulling their hand across the Salvation Finish Line (getting them to pray "The Sinner's Prayer"), but does not offer any kind of relationship or friendship with the person. I'm not saying people can't get saved that way, I'm just saying, it's not my style.
My personal style is very different from most others, and it takes a much longer time, but it's what I believe God made me for. I'm not so good at "getting people saved" in a few minutes, but I do like getting to know people and then inviting them to church. Often, that takes several years, such as in a work setting, but by the time I ask them, I know the names of their kids, their ex-spouses/significant others, their pains and losses, their childhood backgrounds, the places they grew up in. And so, when I ask them to church, they feel like someone who knows and cares about their life is asking--not just some stranger who's trying to win brownie points with God.
I also like talking to people who've been through very extreme things, like the guy in a maximum security prison who had shot both his parents. He had been raised as a Christian all his life, and Christianity always talks about forgiveness. One of the things I asked him was if he felt forgiven for what he'd done, and what he thought God's plans were for him now.
But that's just me, and I can't tell anyone else how to go about their Christian life, or how to witness to people. That's between them, God, and the people they're surrounded by.
I know Zero has witnessed to many people on this site in his own way, usually with a caring word and a comforting Bible passage.
And I'm quite sure that if a little nobody in the crowd like me has noticed that... So has God.

But Streams is geared toward sharing what's happening in our days and regular lives... patting each other on the back for encouragement and support... praying for, edifying, and validating what other people are going through.
It's kind of a catch-all "I'm going through such-and-such and need to talk to someone" or "I had this really cool moment I wanted to share with everyone" with a positive, upbeat, and "Way to Go!" attitude.
Speaking of which... Has anyone seen/talked to Lil' Christian? I haven't seen her in ages...
It wasn't directed at you and I agree that scripture is certainly not legalism... but... when somebody says you will go to hell if you don't.... then that's legalism.
But I should point out that when someone comes to you trying to preach a different religion, like mormonism.... I do believe there might be more of a moral obligation to correct them... but I don't think one will go to hell if they don't.

That's actually what this started out as. Ifyou research it, you'll find that an encouragement was given that generated a books worth of response bc I touched on something that some others dont want to deal.
I really am surprised myself at what it became.
