So I was on the internet and searching about graven images and so on and so forth, when I stumbled into this very interesting article. It was about the 2nd Commandment God had given to Moses: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Exodus 20:3-5 and Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God. (Lev. 26:1)
If someone was to say that a stuffed animal,or a doll,is a graven image,or idol, then the same could apply to bicycles, motorcycles, hotwheels racing track, train set, chemistry set, easy bake oven,or anything else that a child has fun playing with, and enjoys.
Those are not graven images,or idols, which when God said to not make an image of anything in heaven,or on earth,or in the sea,the key thing is He said do not bow down and worship those images.
Do you bow down to the Almighty teddy bear and worship, does a boy bow down to the Lord train set and worship.
God is pointing out to not make a graven image,or idol, and make it out to be deity,an entity higher than man, that they look up to,and reverence.
It would not apply to children's toys, for they are young and having fun,not looking at them as an entity higher than people that they must bow down to and give reverence.
Of course some people will say if something that takes the time of people that they do quite frequently,or material things ,and money, and not paying attention to God like they should,is an idol, but to me that is worldliness, and not necessarily an idol, for they are not giving reverence to those activities,as an entity, although they like them and take too much time with them.
In the second commandment God says the purpose of the graven image and idol,is that they make it out to be deity and worship that deity by the idol.
Although the Bible does say that money can be a master of people, which God said you cannot serve money, and God,but even then although they love that money more than God,is still does not apply to the second commandment where they bow down to worship a deity,by the idol, like the god Chemosh,or any other god they make an idol to honor that god.
