Having subsonic rounds is more of a silencer than an actual silencer. But those aren't scary enough to be illegal.

^This. I wish there were a way to make a really effective silencer for a 5.56. Day would be made.

I'm sure somebody is working on it though. The firearms industry is a perfect example of innovation matching demand.

Doesn't seem to be a matter of being sane, but organized. 300+ million people in this hodge-podge of a country, 400+ million firearms in the hands of private citizens, and over a trillion rounds of ammunition, and amongst all of it, not one unifying thought or sense of purpose. We're all thinking like pack-rats and just trying to protect our own little pile of junk and are so distracted with our bills and other flotsam that we can't organize and take Washington D.C. by force and enact some change.

I do this for a living so bear with me, but the main thing you should be focusing on if you want to go for it is your story.

Know your principles (it seems you do) and live by them. But live by them in an interesting way. Take chances, pursue opportunities, and just generally grab life by the neck.

Even if you don't run for political office, you'll live with less regret than most people.

Well, isn't that how most politicians make it big? By making lots of friends and accepting foreign "donations"? Lol But I doubt I ever will run for an office. I have entertained the idea in the past, but it would require a lot of acting and manipulation on my part to pass off as someone exceptionally interesting, And I don't think that would be right. I'm a very tame person by nature, really. I hate gambling, and I prefer to do things in an practical way. Even my choice occupation is practical and safe.

Yeah, if you don't like anything that resembles gambling, politics isn't the place for you. But never say never. Lord knows we need more practical folks in office now and in the future.

Taking chances. Heh, I don't even like bouncing on the diving board at the pool because it feels so wobbly and unstable. But I will keep that in mind. Tonight be a while before I take any significant chances,though. 16 year olds don't usually get faced with too many major decisions

Well its a legal process where you have to show you have property that is endangered by the Hogs ...also the silencer goes into a legal trust and cannot be past to any other person ...its a very drawn out legal and expensive process .

Ah, I should have qualified my statement. For squirrel, rabbit or other varmint, I don't check to see if they are boys or girls. On them, it's all perfectly edible. My position on buck vs. doe for larger game is just because I've had too many bad food experiences from meat that belonged to a trophy buck but have never been disappointed in the meal from a dry doe. Probably just me, but it makes sense in my crazy little mind.

My brother had chicken that nested in the trees. And my dad bagged a flying turkey crossing his property. Yeah, old critters just aren't good eats.

The moment to rebel was Roe V. Wade becoming "law." It didn't have to be war. Ballots could have fought that battle, but we'd rather Ask not what we can do for the government, but ask what the government can do for us.

I shot several squirrels a few months back. Never ate 'em, though. Mom would have had a heart attack if she caught me attempting to cook one in her kitchen. She has this very strong thing against eating rodents, though I'd like to at least see what it tastes like.

I live in Philly. We can but rabbit, venison, a variety of game, but they're all farm raised. I haven't checked out the prices since the 1980's, but back then, rabbit was $7 a pound and deer was $14. Conservatively speaking, (and I'm conservative, so that's the only way I speak lol), double that for today's prices. Personally? I still wouldn't pay 1980 prices for that meat. It's a rare occasion will spend $7.50 a pound for shrimp!

What if you were special ops/military...could you legally own a silencer for "govt purposes"? Sorry I really don't know the gun rules much over there other than you're allowed non-automatic guns (the kind that rapid fires bullets). Would really like to know about some of the gun laws over there as an interesting read. If anyone can point me to a site for that I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

Yeah, well when you get a hold of some bad deer meat, it's REALLY, REALLY BAD. Like, tastes-like-you're-chewing-up-a -billy-goat-in-but bad. The last time egad venison was when a friend gave it to us,claiming it was some real meat. The stuff was so strong it ran me out of the kitchen. It even smelled musky.

Yeah, we don't hunt, so we are at the mercy of friends and family. Dad gave us the ribs.

Looking back -- ribs? It's a deer! Tain't nothing there but cartledge keeping the ribs together.

Yeah, SEALs and Delta don't typically take their tools of the trade home with them. Those items are typically stuffed in a locker for the bean counters to keep track of.

That said, I've met one SEAL and one Delta (who I actually believe were a SEAL and a Delta). They were like regular dudes more than well-pressed, hyper-military types. Definitely biker bar material, not officer's club types. I could honestly see them taking a silencer home and finding some way to cover their tracks.

And you don't think "Excellent shot form a distance. Must have been a marksman or sniper" might let the cat out of the bag?

As somebody just 10 years your senior, I can tell you that those important decisions come at you with blazing speed.

Be prepared. Just don't turn 26 too fast. That means I'll be 36 which isn't so bad, but I kinda dig where I'm at right now.

Well, I will admit that I've never heard of anyone keeping the deer ribs, we always throw it away. Think back, now... did you do anything that might have upset your dad prior to his giving you the ribs? XD

Squirrel tastes a lot like rabbit. You can eat about the same pieces of them too - the hind quarters and back straps. Not much meat on squirrels, but pretty tasty.
