Guys...

My son has a Championship swim meet this weekend. He is also trying to hit some times so he can go to the next Division up Championship swim meet. I'm very nervous for him. I'm praying for him. I'm also excited for him!! This is my randomness for the day. Been thinking about this a lot.

Should I be troubled the posts on the black algae in the pools made me think to share my random thought? Haha

I was in there tonight with my scrub brush, clear goggles and skimmer scrubbing the edges on the bottom. My daughter told me that I need to stop focusing on the dirt, she's 9, lol.

No need to scrub it all down like that. If your pool is growing any type of algae, the chlorine level is too low. Most pool supply stores sell concentrated chlorine granules specifically to kill off algae that has already bloomed (typically the chlorine levels will be too high to use the pool for a day or two). How bad the algae problem is and pool volume dictates how much of the pool shock to use (in extreme cases multiple treatments may be necessary).

One way or the other all the scrubbing in the world won't get rid of the algae if your chlorine levels aren't kept up and the hotter the weather the faster chlorine evaporates out of the water.

Believe it or not, we've been to some really bad ones. We've seen people have to leave by ambulance because it wasn't well ventilated. This pool we are going to is nice enough, though. :)

Yeah, I super shocked it and got rid of the algae. Luckily I caught it early.

By the way, simply shorting a lithium battery for several seconds (letting the positive and negative wires come together) will cause it to explode in a ball of fire as well. It's one of the theories about what happened to the missing Malaysia Airlines 777 because it was carrying lithium batteries in its cargo hold.

Try to NOT work in a hospital. They seem to be underfunded and thus understaffed. What could be more frustrating to you than having 12 patients who need help urgently and you must decide who will suffer for hours while you deal with 10 other patients. I write this out of personal experience as a patient.

Well, I'd be more frustrated if everyone was left suffering, because no one was willing to step up and work in the medical field and make those hard decisions.
If no one was willing, all 12 patients would be suffering, indefinitely(or till death).

Understaffed hospitals are what happens when insurance companies and the Government run them. At least this is what's happening in my city. Two of the biggest health insurers have taken over our two biggest hospitals and besides remodeling they are cutting staff big time. Keep the old lobby and hire more help. When my Father in law was seriously ill and dying they thought it'd be a great idea to send him to rehab. He had hallucinations and couldn't breathe well but they wanted to empty that bed. One day later he was back in the hospital and died a few days later. We knew he was dying, moving him all over the place sure didn't help.

Let the Doctor's and Nurse's do their Job's. Quit pushing patients out and risking their health.

That is the main reason why I left the studies to be a nurse. It drained me so much I couldn't do things properly (in the practise period).

I am currently assisting at a special ward at a care home, and we are very lucky, because we only have 4 patients there.
These are people who need someone to be around 24/7 , so even with three people working there (which is a privilege) , even that falls short if they work each other into a fuzz (they are all quite strong still). .... but I love that place. It is way way way better than the typical place where, like you said, you have 12 patients waiting for one nurse.

That being said, and as stated above, if no one works , how will anyone get help?

I think the government should hire assistants, if needed without education, but some coursing , so that they can at least step in and help with sitting down and talking to those having a rough time, or maybe brining a glass of water. Those little things that end up being big things for the patients.

I have to take a first aid/CPR class tonight. I should have taken it a while ago. It's actually a refresher course because my certification expired, whoops.
