What is God's will?

I have found at least 7 things about doing the will of God on this earth now that we are in Christ.

1) That we have eternal life in Christ - John 6:40

2) That we be filled with the Holy Spirit - Eph 5:16-21

3) That we live a pure, disciplined lifestyle - 1 Thess 4:3-4 ( we live out that holiness that is already in us in our new man ..created in Christ in righteousness and holiness )

4) That we are rejoicing in the Lord, praying without ceasing, and grateful - 1 Thess 5:16-18

5) That we be a law-abiding citizen - 1 Peter 2:13-16

6) That we believe and influence others to believe - 2 Peter 3:9

7) That we commit ourselves to God and other believers - 2 Cor 8:5

According to the works-based salvationists...if someone is not joyful one day or didn't pray for a couple of days...or was not grateful for a day or so and they died..then they would go to hell because they didn't do " the will of God"..( see #4 above )....how foolish this nonsense is.

What about #5 above...if you speed and crash your car and die..you go to hell because you were not doing " the will of God"...again the complete foolishness of people that say..not doing the will of God are not
saved.

The "doing of the will of God" for salvation is to believe on Christ and it is by grace through faith only - no works. Eph 2:8-9

The saint who rests in Christ and in His finished work is the will of God and what appears to be his free choices are actually God's will for him. It's loving God because you know His love for you, doing what is inside of you under His influence. Phil 2:13

Actually God is clear on the absolute opposite.

We make a choice for salvation like when Noah and his family entered the ark, guess who sealed the door? God

The choice to accept God's gift of salvation is a final we are sealed by His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13) just like when God sealed the door.

You are not able to undo the consequences of the choice if in fact you have indeed been born again.

That would make the old Adam (sin) stronger than the new Adam (Jesus-gift of salvation) in which case Jesus died in vain, I highly doubt God does anything in vain He is perfect.
I think if it were our choice of the flesh for him to have mercy on us and not his .We could not realize it was the Spirit of Christ working in Noah to both will and do His good pleasure as that which moved Noah to enter the Ark. Scripture informs us he is of one mind and always does whatsoever his soul pleases ,after all it is he who performs that which is appointed to us called an imputed righteousness,as His not of ourselves...... lest any man boast in false pride. .

Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are "known of God", how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

God commands us to BE HOLY, 1 Pet 1: 15--16.

The will of God, is our sanctification, 1 Thess 4: 3.
So holiness isn't guaranteed, it's a choice that we have to make.

Take my yoke upon you and… find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matt 11:29-30)
Hmm do we have opposites, if so which is it? Does God contradict Himself. No!

Jesus said, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:62)

All scripture must be understood through God’s love and His atoning work not condemnation. This is offer of love and life, not about discipleship which the NIV decided to add.

You cannot accept God’s gift of eternal life and look back. You make that decision to believe on the full atoning work of Jesus then you are in a position to receive the Kingdom of God. He was telling His disciples about being saved.

Jesus was always pointing to the cross.

You cannot accept the work of the cross and look back and try and do good works to get yourself saved, because if you are looking back you really do not understand, believe, accept, trust in what Jesus did.

Unless you turn from Him.. He said he that puts his hand to the plow and looks back isn't fit..

If one so chooses to be kept, he will indeed be kept...

So many people will think they will be ok and won't be bc incomplete teaching.. for the sake of others and not yourself, you should ask God and the HS will teach you..

This OP reflects the belief that righteousness is an eternal possession, rather than GOD's imputation and righteous behaviour.
If righteousness is not an eternal possession.. then it has NOT been imputed by God. God does not play around with His righteousness. What He imputes to the ungodly He imputes for ever (Rom 4.5). At the same time He causes them to die with Christ and reign in newness of life.

People accused Paul of saying, 'shall we continue in sin that grace may abound'. His answer is that that is impossible for a man who knows Christ, and he explains why. Because God doesn't allow it!!

In other words, the belief that a person can be righteous yet do unrighteous things.
But everyone does unrighteous things after conversion at one time or another. all sin.

1 But John is clear:
By this the children of God and the children of the devil are evident: everyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother. 1 John 3:10
But there is a difference between PRACTISING righteousness on the one hand and occasionally being caught out in unrighteous acts on the other. Christian both PRACTISE righteousness while at the same time being caught out committing an occasional unrighteous act.

You make salvation depend on Human freewill which is never spoken of in Scripture. Man can choose, but he cannot choose freely. If God left us to be holy we'd be finished in a moment. He ENABLES us to be holy. And that is why He commands us to do what otherwise is impossible for us,,

He tells us to work out our own salvation BECAUSE God is at work in us to will and do of His good pleasure(Phil 2.12-13)

If holiness was left to our choice, goodbye holiness

A falling away from the faith is not only a possibility, but is a reality!

1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

departing from the faith is very different to departing from being In Christ. Many men hold 'the faith' who have not made it their own. It is the difference between profession and possession,

You are another false grace teachers, you know very well that some Christians aren't living holy lives.

God is only at work in them that let Him, those who live holy lives.
You false grace teachers take out of context scripture to build your false doctrines on.

now I know the source of your false teaching about healing. You 'let Him' and He heals you. I don't think, If God only works in those who 'let him' no one will ever be saved. Or do you think Paul 'let him' on the Road to Damascus. He had no choice,,

yes I believe in God's grace, His UNMERITED favour. It is the root of the Gospel. And it is UNMERITED.

you talk about grace and mean works. you don't know what grace is.

as for Christians living holy lives, what about 1 Cor 11.30. God takes the long view

YIKES a false grace teacher!

Oh if only St Paul could be here to set the record straight...oh wait ... many didn't believe him either.... but he kept writing about grace... in fact he called it abounding grace.

By grace we are saved through faith, but what happens when one departs from the faith? Jesus said in our patience we posses our souls, so one would do well to abide in the faith by patient continuance in the words of God.

Hebrews 6:12
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Hebrews 10:36
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Letting God heal us, Isn't a false teaching, Jesus asked a man, "Will you be healed", He didn't ask if the man wanted to be healed, He knew the man wanted to be healed, There is a difference between wanting to be healed, and receiving healing.

It's not even a case of, "Let God", it's the fact of knowing Jesus has already healed us, and us receiving healing.

God certainly isn't at work in the false grace teachers, as they won't let Him, they say living holy, is a work and does away with grace.
They don't repent to let God do a work in them.

If you knew the salvation of Saul, [Paul], You would know he said, "Lord, what WILL YO have me to do". Paul was willing to let Jesus have His way.

I believe in grace, [The Biblical grace], Not your false grace.

As for 1 Cor 11: 30, That's talking about those who eat and drink in an unworthy manner, So some get sick and others die.
So you can see how important it is to live holy lives.

you fail to distinguish faith from 'the faith'. Faith is truly believing, 'the faith' is what is there to be believed.

Hebrews 6:12
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Hebrews 10:36
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
well are you doubting that Christians have patient endurance? This simply encourages, it does not doubt.

We are commanded to be holy, 1 Pet 1: 15--16. And if we live holy, we are a holy people, 1 Pet 2: 9.
Plus, Rev 15: 4, Isn't in the Church age, we are in heaven at that time.

Anyone who says we can lose salvation doesn't really understand what occurs when one is saved. The dead spirit we all inherited from adam is made alive by God and combined with the spirit of Jesus, that can never be undone. What those who walk in darkness fail (or refuse out of pride) to understand is that we are no longer our old self. The old sin nature we were is crucified when we are saved and we are raised up with Christ. This is a work of God but those who will not walk in the light of that truth can not put aside their pride and self righteousness long enough to see it. Do not be angry with them as it is a very difficult concept indeed. It is ironic the hatred they show for Jesus finished work though not unexpected.

Letting God heal us, Isn't a false teaching, Jesus asked a man, "Will you be healed", He didn't ask if the man wanted to be healed, He knew the man wanted to be healed, There is a difference between wanting to be healed, and receiving healing.
you can't compare the Son with ordinary men. it is total folly.

It's not even a case of, "Let God", it's the fact of knowing Jesus has already healed us, and us receiving healing.
unadulterated rubbish.

God certainly isn't at work in the false grace teachers, as they won't let Him, they say living holy, is a work and does away with grace.
where did I say that?

They don't repent to let God do a work in them.
They work out what God has worked in.

If you knew the salvation of Saul, [Paul], You would know he said, "Lord, what WILL YO have me to do". Paul was willing to let Jesus have His way
Well? but it was the RESULT of his salvation.

I believe in grace, [The Biblical grace], Not your false grace.
the bible knows only one type of grace, unmerited favour.

As for 1 Cor 11: 30, That's talking about those who eat and drink in an unworthy manner, So some get sick and others die.
So you can see how important it is to live holy lives.
but 'they are NOT condemned with the world'.. (v 32) Thus they remained SAVED.
