If if we let this rampant evil slander go in our churches, no one will ever find christ

it is one thing to disagree and have a little arguing

it is another to month after month stand by while a few people tear others down with false accusations, and slanderous lies,

jesus turned the table over and exposed the lies, and told the Liars to get out.

Jesus also walked on water... but He didn't tell me to do so.

I do agree with addressing the slander but in the same token - the endless back and forth bickering does absolutely nothing IMO. I think if we ignore most of the garbage being spoken - and just speak to the direct mis-representation - then leave it with the Lord - it'll get sorted out by the Holy Spirit in the minds of the viewers. We can trust Him in this.

I do know it's frustrating to be dealing with people that constantly say the opposite of what you are saying but we can't get inside their minds and get them to think differently either...

I have said this probably 100 times, If EVERYONE would stop responding to them, they would go away. Or if people would confront them or the sins they have been committing (we are WAY PAST the point of taking it to them in private) then maybe they would repent, or leave,

but do people do that? No.. they either ignore, it hope it will go away, or baby them,

So we have to watch people get slandered, Watch people get hated on, Watch all these hate threads open up. and know baby Christians or people who need to find Christ come in and see this nonsense.

Something has to be done.. SO many good people have left CC lately because of this crap. Because they are sick of dealing with it..

Jesus also walked on water... but He didn't tell me to do so.
Scripture does not say do as Jesus did. It says live as Jesus lived. Jesus made it possible for those he called to be chosen. His chosen are Children of God.

(1 John 2:5-6) “Whoever says, 'I know him' without keeping his commandments, is a liar, and truth has no place in him. But anyone who does keep his word, in such a one God's love truly reaches its perfection. This is the proof that we are in God. Whoever claims to remain in him must act as he acted.”

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who is a child of God sins because God's seed remains in him. Nor can he sin, because he is a child of God. This is what distinguishes the children of God from the children of the devil: whoever does not live uprightly and does not love his brother is not from God” New Jerusalem bible

(1 John 3:9-10) “No one who has been begotten by God sins; because God’s seed remains inside him, he cannot sin when he has been begotten by God. In this way we distinguish the children of God from the children of the devil: anybody not living a holy life and not loving his brother is no child of God’s”

You guys did more than I thought you would, with only *Stunnedbygrace* getting close. LOL

In your rush to show the pretty damning legal derivative of convicting, rebuking, and refuting, etc., you totally missed the fact that that same, one, single word is used in that passage to describe how "righteousness" is also handled. Are we, then, "rebuked" and "refuted" for being the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus?

Excellent point.

Here's another question to consider:

  • Why would the Holy Spirit (Who is God) be pointing out sins that God (Who is also God) said He would "remember no more" (see Jer. 31 and Heb. 8, 10) and "is not counting against us" (see 2 Cor. 5)?

"For I will forgive their iniquity, and
I will remember their sin no more.” (from Jer. 31)

12 "For I will be merciful toward their iniquities,
and
I will remember their sins no more.” (from Heb. 8)

I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” (from Heb. 10)

18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that
God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. (from 2 Cor. 5)

He wouldn't. He doesn't. That's the short answer. That feeling, that pit in your stomach that comes when you sin as a believer is you realizing that in your flesh you have acted/are acting contrary to the New Life that God has placed within you.

The solution to that is not the New Life (the Holy Spirit) pointing out the believer's sin, but pointing the believer back to Jesus. The Holy Spirit always points to Christ:

5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (from Rom. 5)

And here's another really interesting thing:

  • What does the same passage where some say the Holy Spirit points out and 'convicts' believers of their sin say right after that? Jesus tells us what the Holy Spirit's job actually is in the life of believers:

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. (from Jn. 16)

The Holy Spirit will always point you to Christ. You belong to Him, bought with a price. You are His and THAT is what the Holy Spirit will always point out to you:

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. (from 1 Cor. 6)

That verse sums up much of what Paul writes to us: You belong to God in Christ. His Holy Spirit lives within you. Now go out and behave as who you are in Christ!

And if we truly understood the role of the Holy Spirit Who lives within us? What would happen in the Body?

31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear [reverence for one's husband, in context] of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied. (from Acts 9)

If today's Body of Christ had a firm grasp on the above truth, we would see His Body multiplying.

Instead, so many are working so hard to disqualify those who God has qualified, by turning the Good News of the Gospel into bad news.

unless you can show where people are sinless.
Now this statement is a double edged sword.
I am exploring is it possible. It is obvious the theology around this is not well developed.
People have been living their lives in Christ quietly.

I am sure many are sinless, perfect, holy, pure lives.

The point is establishing the foundations to this approach.

When Paul describes himself as pure, holy blameless you simply do not believe him. I actually do.

Being blameless is different from being sinless...

Sinless means you never sinned...

Blameless means you have been washed clean of your sins through the blood of Christ.

Sorry to post and run . . . Heading back to St. Jude's this afternoon.

This thread exploded into pages and pages - not possible for me to keep up, but I felt it important to make the points I did based on the OP.

I have said this probably 100 times, If EVERYONE would stop responding to them, they would go away. Or if people would confront them or the sins they have been committing (we are WAY PAST the point of taking it to them in private) then maybe they would repent, or leave,
EG what sin are we guilty of? Saying what you believe? Saying what we believe?

Or is it because we do not agree with you and your way? I think you have taken the place of God and desire to dominate all before you. What happens when things do not go your way? Self combustion probably.

That is what happened last time.

And this is "crap". Funnily I thought this was discussing what you believe about conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit.

But then maybe you do not suffer from that problem after all, unless another points it out, and there is no other choice.
I am happy to agree with anything that can be shown to be where I have sinned or am wrong.

I just do not agree with your summary.

1. "They" are not evil.
2. God and those folks can talk for themselves and it's insulting that you feel that YOU HAVE TO DEFEND THEM.
3. Have you ever consider you are causing more ungodliness by promoting bickering and not calm logical discussions?
4. Don't insult new believers, God's holy spirit will protect and guide them to truth and your yelling is more frightening than comforting.
5. Be careful what you ask for, for the something done might not be what you like. When you take someone to court, the judge might not rule in your favor.
6. Folks leave all the time and as long as people don't understand what God says 100% there will misunderstanding and heated debates. As long as there are immature people there will be name calling and false accusations on both sides.

.....why did I come back to this thread?....

Peter.

That is the context of what I said..

When I say we can not live up to the standards of the law. It means we can not be sinless..

It does not mean we can not be upright people, who are blameless, in fact paul told us to work out our salvation, so e can be blamleess in an evil world.

so please. Stop saying I am wrong, because of some totally other context. because all you are doing is causing division,,

Thats what gets you in trouble, You take people words out of context. and say they are wrong,, And when they try to correct your understanding of what they are REALLY saying, you get mad.

When Paul describes himself as pure, holy blameless you simply do not believe him. I actually do.
I do too. But paul NEVER said he was sinless (My Context)

HUGE difference,, based on an interpretation of a word..

Peter just apologize for misunderstanding what EG believes and if you want try and figure out what he does actually believe by asking him.

Sheesh, is being humble and apologzing really that hard?

And STOP TELLING FOLKS WHAT THEY BELIEVE, just ask and listen when they explain.

It would make your life so much easier and folks wouldn't jump in the attack Peter bandwagon.

Just a suggestion..not even gonna try and read other posts here. See you in your other thread...waiting still for my sister in law..sigh.

No Peter.

it is far deeper than this, I know your belief is different (actually it is not much different at all) and I have peace with people who I disagree far more than we have ever disagreed.

It is YOUR CONTINUED REFUSAL TO LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE SAYS, and TWISTING THEIR WORDS..

Having a disagreement is one thing

Slander is bearing false witness, Which is breaking one of the commandments,, which you have been doing for months now..

Interesting

JGIG posted items which say the Holy Spirit never convicts of sin because it is no forgotten.

So here is the other extreme element of hyper-grace theology.
