is it wrong for me to think that God would not find a "Christian" screamo and glorifying to Him, even if the lyrics were Christian? God tells us to think on things that are good, and pure, and lovely, and those are not the first words that come to mind when you hear some guy onstage screaming his brains out....is it just me being closed-minded? I have no problem with Christian rock or even metal, but it seems that screamo might be taking things too far.

What's your take?

I don't listen to much screamo, but I don't believe a song should be judged on being biblically good or bad because of its sound. If the artist is trying to spread God's love through a song, and the lyics are appropriate, is it my place to condemn it because I don't like the genre? There are some styles of music I will not listen to because I just don't like them, but that doesn't mean God doesn't.

I understand what you are saying about the songs not coming across as good, pure, or lovely. But perhaps these songs that have a darker sound but feature God's truth can help us on those days when God feels farther away.

This is just my opinion, feel free to disagree. :)

no no i totally see what you're saying too...and part of me kind of agrees. It's just kind of a hard question for me to answer lol. I just went to a concert that my youth group put on and one of the bands was screamo. There was a mosh pit and everything, so it felt kinda weird lol

I never thought about listening to it with a youth group haha...that would feel weird.

I dont like screamo music but I do know some that listen to, some people really feel connected in taht way, and to them it is beautiful music and its how they can feel close to God, so more power to them. I know I prefer quiet pretty music to worship good but everyones different.

that is how I worship God, in the moshpit! it is so amazing and freeing! ^_^

whenever my sisters are listening or talking about Christian Screamo me and my dad are always like " Could you picture Jesus screaming like that to get his message across?" so.. that's my view on it :P

Jesus did freak out and flip over tables in a temple to get his point across.

I think its based on each person. I mean I don't like it but for others its okay sometimes it might reach people you might not regualrly get to listen to the gospel.

Ok so the last part of your message made me think. Thank you for it too! Ok so your question is "Could you picture Jesus screaming like that to get his message across?", my thoughts on that is no I cannot see him screaming to get his point across. But being God in flesh gives you a little extra charisma I would say to get peoples attention and listen to you. If Jesus had to scream to get his points across I am 100% sure he would do it and he would do it well. I guess what my point is and rather simply stated he died on the cross for you, that is the all time scream. He died for you, you can't get a point across any better then giving your life for them in the name of love. I say if screamo is your thing then good for you. I'm going to say its not any less Christian to listen or even sing screamo than to listen to quiet acoustic stuff. It's just different, but always you should remember that no matter what music, even Christian death metal, cannot top Jesus dieing for you. That was the ultimate scream.
