As teens we are told that we are going through "the developmental stages"
These "stages for me have just been full of trials that have changed my life for better and worse. What have you faced through these times that have changed ur life for better and or worse?
 
Change for better: Finding what my "gift" is, and being allowed the opportunity to speak words of love and hope to those in search of it.

Change for the worst: When my friend ended her life and I took that guilt upon myself.
 
I am a Christian youth minister, and I understand what you went through when your friend died. I remember when I was in 7th grade when one of my friends was in a serious car accident. I had intended to pray for him, but it slipped my mind. Later, I found out that he had died. I blamed myself thinking that if I had prayed for him, he wouldn't have died.
It is not your fault that your friend died. I encourage you to remember the good times you had with your friend. Use this experience as a testimony to help others with their feelings of loss and grief.
God loves you and has a wonderful plan in store for your life. Don't give up!
 
Pelicano, I knew she had wanted to end her life. She constantly hurt herself and did dangerous things cuz she said she "had nothing to lose". I fell asleep the night she ended her life. If I stayed up I could've convinced her out of it, like I had many nights before.

Sweetie, even if you could have convinced her out of it that night, she WOULD have done it eventually anyway.. I know that hurts, but it's true. This is small comfort, but at least she wasn't alone, and had someone who cared about her with her that night. And I'm certain that Jesus himself came to escort her home.

I've tried suicide a few times. The first was around 12 or 13, with a pair of my mom's sewing scissors. Luckily, I'm a wimp and I hate pain, so I chickened out of stabbing myself.. lol.. Suicide is the cowardly way out of this life. So many people choose suicide because it's quick and works most of the time. They don't realize that suicide only creates MORE pain for those left behind, who have to deal with the sorrow and guilt and anger. I want you to please read both my depression and suicide threads below in my siggy. And check out my faith book in the Miscellaneous forum. :) Maybe it will inspire you to do one for your friend.

I've heard that countless times from therapists. I hate hearing it. It's like a punch in the stomach every single time.
I have tried to end my life as well, but also chickened out. My attempts were not in a painful way. They were jumping, but I never actually got the courage to jump. I couldn't bring myself to do it...
Then she ended her life and I realized how much it hurt those who are still here and I promised I would never make anyone feel like that.
It doesn't mean I haven't stopped thinking about that stuff. In fact one line from a song that I never forget is "funny how when your dead people start listening." But, I know that I can't do it because of how much I know it hurts people now....
She might not have done it eventually....with that logic we should just give up and not help those who try... maybe if I bought her a little more time....
 
You can't blame yourself for what she did. People who are that determined to kill themselves WILL do it, even if they're talked out of it sometimes. Your friend sounded determined to die, so there's nothing you or ANYONE could have done to stop her. Had you been able to "buy her more time", she only would have suffered that much longer. God uses all suffering for his glory, and something positive will come from her death. He allowed this to happen for a reason known only to him.

I hate hearing that. Every time it is said to me. I hate hearing it.

That's because we want to know the reason why. But we don't always get to know, and that's difficult to handle. My uncle committed suicide (supposedly) in 2001, but we never knew why. We think it happened because his wife was leaving him for her ex-hubby, but the whole thing seemed fishy. I think his death was staged to look like a suicide, and his wife's autistic daughter saw what really happened, but unfortunately she can't talk, so we'll never know what REALLY went down that night.
 
I understand you, but you really do not need to blame yourself. God does not want you to feel guilt over what happened to your friend. Yes, you can be sad about your friend's decision to end her life. I sense that you have a very good heart in you. I pray that you will be able to reach out to others and love them as God does.

Maybe I do not need to, but I do. I've tried not to. And thank you, I hope I can do that for others
 
Hi i am new on this site and I am 16 and am looking to relate to other christian teens about persecutions and the trials we all undergo. For me these trials happens to me in the place where you would least expect it, church.
