And now for my actual post!
I haven't been on the thread for a long, long time. I see so many new people and faces. Welcome from me! What? You've been at CC for months? My bad!
I'm getting bored in my wheelchair, so I thought maybe to find some companionship here. Two days till I can walk on my heel, and then another 6 till I can walk on the foot and another 4 days till the bandages come off and the staples come out.
You hadn't heard? Nothing too big. I had foot reconstruction surgery back in 2009, which did not fuse properly and a nice 1 1/4 titanium screw worked its way about 1/4 inch of of the bunion resection. So it has been bothering me for years. The original surgeon told me he would not take the screw out. But in 2013, I finally figured out maybe another surgeon would. By the time I got in to see the new surgeon, got the appointment booked, it was Oct, 2014. Except I fell hard and broke my wrist cycling in August, and it did not heal on time for the surgery. Plus being very weak, so I could not use the crutches to around. Then we sold our house, and between moving to a different province deciding not to go back to the new surgeon, a year to get into see this small town orthopedic foot surgeon, get the appointment and NOT back out, I finally had the surgery done last Friday.
Of course, it was nothing compared to the original. Just a painful freezing shot, and a weird feeling pulling it out, and watching him put in the staples was kind of creepy, espeically because there was a fold in the skin, and had that been a piece of material, it would have been pulled out and redone. So we shall see if I still end up with a fold, or if it stretches out normally. Who knows? I was under the first time.
So, that is my story, and I'm sticking to it!
