Why are Atheist Atheist?

Most people are Atheist today, or turn away from the church because of the continuing poor behaviour of Christians who mix right wing socially conservative politics with church.

The level of hatred being directly by Christians at minority groups is a bit hard to take, so people seek truth elsewhere.

Jesus spoke about this.
 
I think it's because they think it's too good to be true . They're more if the "I need to see it to believe it." Most likely ignorant people who don't have open minds :p

Hey, this is an old thread, but I'll answer anyway
I've always thought about this to.
Why are atheists so stubborn? Why do they deny him so much that they would rather kill themselves then acknowledge Jesus into their Hearts?
I think the main reason is pride, plus they always try to justify their ignorance with "if their is a god, why is their so much evil in this world, I would never love a god that causes so much evil." not realizing that us humans are the root of all evil in this world and its our choice to do what's right or wrong.
Also they can't seem to differentiate God from "Religion" they believe us Christians to be "blindly following the bible, or blindly following our preacher" when in fact we KNOW FOR SURE that God exists, even if their were no Bible I would still have a conscience that tells me what's right from wrong.
Religion however is Man made, due to the fact that it did not exist before man was created(chuckle)
God however always has been and always will be.
Also I think deep down Atheists know that god exists, they just choose to follow their own desires and pride instead of their conscience

This is also what makes humans different from animals, animals only follow their own desires, whereas humans are created with both conscience and desires, lol.
Well I hope someone likes my view of things lol
 
because they cannot understand something that can not be touched, seen or tasted. men creates such evil 99% of times and also, Christians are not perfect never in life will I understand why children die young and we question things too but the kicker is we still believe.

The same reason you're too stubborn to believe in Vishnu, or Allah, or Ra. Because you don't believe in them.

What you think is wrong.

People don't become atheists because they're proud. They become atheists because they sincerely don't see reason to believe in God or any other gods.

Not all atheists think this way. However, there are some atheists that make this argument. This argument isn't the reason they don't believe in gods in general, it's why they don't believe in Yahweh. The argument goes much deeper than that, but I won't delve into it.

Christianity isn't the only religion which claims to know their god is real. If knowing God is real makes your faith "non-religious", then religion would be non-existent since all religions claim to know.

You should talk to atheists and ask them why they stopped believing in God. You'll hear many different reasons - most of which are based on the fact that the atheist couldn't find empirical evidence of his existence. Sometimes atheists give up their belief in God with relative ease. Other times, it's a slow process. It's not uncommon for an atheist to tell you they felt sorrow before losing their belief, that they didn't want to stop believing.

If you want to know why someone's an atheist, ask an atheist.
 
I can't speak for all atheists but my case seems to align with most others. We're atheists simply because we don't see any evidence to substantiate the existence of a god. We see no evidence or reason to conclude that he exists and are convinced that he probably doesn't exist until evidence persuades us that he does. That's really all there is to it. We don't hate god, we don't worship the devil instead, we don't love sin and pretend not to believe. We're just not convinced.

Yeah I made a thread about why I'm here. I highly doubt I'll be converted (nor do I wish to de convert anyone) but I really do wanna talk to people and understand their position.

We atheists would love if the things you said were true, we might even hope it was true.
But that doesn't mean we have to think that it was true.
I would also love if I would not die by falling from the Empire State Building.

Atheists say there is no God.
But how can they be CERTAIN of that, unless they've been to every place in the universe? From every microscopic point within, to every area of the vast expanse, can they be SURE they've covered EVERY possibility and say absolutely there IS no God?

Well, then they would have to have ALL the knowledge there is,
which means all-knowing, which means they themself would be God,
which would make themself a walking contradiction.

An ALL-KNOWING GOD who denies knowing of his own existence, lol.

Silly, right? At best, that person can be an agnostic, not knowing if
there's a God or not, but not 100% certain. They can CHOOSE to not believe,
but whether or not a person believes something, is no criteria for determining whether or not it's true.
If God is True, (and He is), He must be true in and of Himself, independent of any one or thing believing in Him.

So in a sense, agnostic is what non-believers are,
and it's what we all are before Jesus saves us.

Some believe in God in a general sense, so I'm not negating
a person's faith in that sense. But there's probably as many
ways people try to decide who God is as there are ... metaphors, lol.

But the question to answer is the one Jesus Himself asked,
'Who do YOU say that I am?'.

God's existence as Creator can be known in His creation.
And our conscience bears witness that we are not our own creator,
but there's SOMEthing going on that's greater than ourselves.

But ultimately God revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ.
This is the True and Living God, and eternal life,
and He extends His hand of love and salvation to us still today.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,
and you'll come to know that not only does God exist,
but He wants to have a personal relationship with you.
How cool is that? :cool:

The first half of your comment has been debunked years ago.
We are not saying we're 100% sure there is no God.
We are saying "the chance of God existing is as big as the chance of a candy planet populated by unicorns existing"
This is just the burden of proof. You can't say we are making the supestition by not believing what you say.
I also hate the term agnostic, because of what I said. We can't just say we KNOW.
I can argue, that your religion can't be true because of the contradictions in it. And I do.
But I could never say for sure, that there is NO deity.
And for the second part. (Did you know this has been debunked years ago as well?)
Thanks to "SCIENCE", we know how things came to be up to the biginning of the Universe.
That still is a mistery, but it would be silly to make stories about rib-women and all that.

So your willingness to hear our side of the story is somewhat defensive.
We could provide many many historical data , Eyewitness accounts , Archeological findings , and geographical location and historical context to people in the bible That will not matter :) so we give the reason why we believe That Jesus Christ is Lord. Again it is not the Job of a Christian to make you beleive but tell you why he does or she does. take it of leave . The other information that we have provided will not be accepted even though it has imperial evidence .

It's when you say, that someone can't disprove your claim.
You have an extraordinary superstition, I don't believe it without evidence.
I'll take it as any other superstition without evidence.
Like this candy thing.
Simple, really.

You got it all wrong!
If you show me those things I will look at them and if they're convincing I'll believe it.
Although I really won't care about the eyewitness accounts, you got that right.
Otherwise, give it to me! It would be nice if God really existed.
Even though he has done some weird things.

But I'm not gonna go as far as saying all this is fake.
Of course, I won't accept this as proof of his divinity though.

Well that wasnt really my intention. Just wanted to put the fact of his existance out from a non biblical view. Its not supposed to proof his divinity just the existance and crucifiction

Some atheists have more honesty than some others I have met. There is a kind of integrity to say all one can know is what you personally have experienced and get a handle on. Some have been brought up in a christian surrounding, and just taken a different view. The real issue is about emotional response to various messages.

As a youngster I took a position where I would accept a message unless I had a reason to disbelieve it.
I know many who take the cynical approach, but pure cynicism is a hole you never get out of even if truth is presented.

My impression is most atheist feel betrayed in some way and lost faith in the testimony of others.
