If that really happened the principal would have been arrested. You can't even paddle a kid in school for misbehaving anymore without threat of arrest or a lawsuit.

There is a saying that originated in Africa: "It takes a village to raise a child." However, here in the west, the village is no longer responsible for the raising of children. Somehow government was allowed to take over, and even though government is made up of people like us elected by people like us to supposedly serve other people like us, it rarely seems that is what government actually does. So now government dictates to us what we can and cannot do regarding our children. Home schooling was at one time threatened. One can only surmise that the government wants all children equally brainwashed. It will not do to have free thinking individuals disrupting the politics of automatons. In Germany it may be against the law to home school. Of course some Christians want to home school their children to keep them out of the clutches of Satanic forces in our culture. More news on home schooling here: https://www.home-school.com/Articles/homeschooling-under-fire-around-the-country.php

Ha I remember a discussion snippet I had with a non-believer who was trying to say that children were naturally good. My goodness. Well, I guess the parents of James Bulger may have believed that at one time, too. My sympathies and condolences always to the parents of James Bulger for the horror visited upon your son.

Was it like this when the water went on? LOL

My kittie has a habit of getting in the tub to look up at the tap, so I comply with her unspoken desire and turn it on, first as a stream and then I slow it down to a steady drip for her; sometimes she just moves out of the way of the water while continually watching it stream into the drain, other times she drinks from around the drain. Even though she has a bowl of water by her food, I suspect she likes moving water better...

I had a cat once who would often sleep in my bathroom sink. I have a fabulous picture of her in there :) And I dragged home this heavy porcelain something or other once, like a pedestal sink, haha, I don't know what it was besides porcelain and heavy and sitting in a pile of refuse, so I took it, and put a blankie in it, and my cats would lay in it, elevated... when they weren't finding other odd places to sprawl. I discovered with my calico cats that all the pillows in the world could not compete with a pile of books on a table top :D

It is different State by State, and School District by School District. In most of the Schools here in Bama, paddling is allowed. However, Parent(s) must sign an "Agreement" Form at the beginning of each School Year (as I understand it).

Beating with a bat? No. That is a criminal offense. Now, some paddles are sawed off bats with one end flattened, but they are not actual bats.

Funny thing is..........if a Teacher is believed to have abused a child via paddling......their lives are pretty much ruined. However, if that child attacks/assaults the Teacher........meh.......no biggie.......

Darn! Now it's 8-5 Royals in the 8th inning and the Tigers have the bases loaded with only one out!

Well, that would be because , assuming it is big adult teacher vs child, the damage potentially inflicted isn't quite the same
Would you want a teacher to beat (not spank, beat) a child of yours? Hardly the same as a seven year old kicking the teachers shin

Anyway

I am bored
and annoyed
because judging by the few tests I have attempted by companies hiring IT folks, I know literally NOTHING that I should know about programming.... so I guess I can forget getting a job in what I spent all of my energy (and more) at learning for three years..... great.

Yes to the seven year old, however, when the "child" reaches the 8th Grade or above, a lot of times they are as big (if not bigger) than the Teacher, and they can inflict some serious damage.

As you said...........difference between spanking and beating.......no one agrees with "beating" that I have ever talked to.

There are many School Districts in this Country where Teachers are "daily" in fear of their lives because of the danger the Students present. Not the Norm, but it is a reality.

We won't have to worry about any of it much longer. We are at verse 24 in Daniel chapter 11 and there are only seven more verses until and including verse 31 and then the rapture. In another area I found that God does a lot of things in lots of 37 years from a previous big event. Establishment of modern Israel was in 1948 +37+37=2022. Maybe? We need to bring in as many souls as we can, quickly.

Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
– Psalm 1:4-5 (NIV)
Today’s commentary
by Dave Whitehead, Senior Pastor, GraceNYC.org, Author of Making Sense of the BibleSin creates instability. When we give in to our carnal nature we set the stage for the winds of life to blow us around like the chaff. Our coping mechanisms to cover up our shame and guilt cause us to shrink back when we should stand. This is where the good news of Jesus Christ helps us; Jesus stands for us in that assembly and calls us forward. He delivers us from our sin so that we can experience his righteousness and express that salvation to others. Jesus can deliver the wicked.

Hang in there.

It took me 3 years to find a job in IT.
