  1. I can not emphasize enough how important it is to stretch all your muscle groups on a daily basis. We all seem to be focused on cardiovascular workouts and strength training - which is great! However, when it comes to stretching there are very few who understand theimportance of keeping their muscles healthy.

Wish could do some of these sometime.

There! i could vaguely remember there was something but its been months ago! And the OP is not here anymore. Still let me bump this to pass on the links. If it is alright, i hope some 'oldies' can post their routines, because if u have not been that athletic or sporty, i suppose it follows that ur workouts are not the same as the more active young people.

Gr. school PE did not teach us to develop arm nor abdominal strength, so by h.s., i could not do the flex arm hang, nor sit ups! I could play a bit of some sports but for some yrs havent been able to, and just do simple calisthenics outside now, while cooking bef. sunrise =(. Can some senior citizens give suggests? Thnks.

I'm not saying this as flattery, but you're awfully young to be considering yourself a senior citizen.
If you go to fitness blender.com, you can get free workout videos, and you can filter your search for stretching/flexibility and choose the level of difficulty you're comfortable with

No, the senior citizen was an expression,, i wasnt sure how/where to put the dividing line if there was such. Bet. 40 and up, or 50 and up, somewhere there i thought? Do not the chinese do tai chi, but idk either if its mostly the elders or even the young do it. Thnks hellooo.

Hah. Here, with the edits.

Ah, and while we skipped rope when younger, (and jackstone too=) i am thinking how else to work on arm strength as that said in Prov.31 that womens arms be strong. I see the woman who helped us wash clothes some time before and think, she is strong! So doing other activities using the hands (w/ all ur heart) isnt that helpful in this area-- like writing, cooking, piano or other instruments, sewing, weeding. Maybe i need weights then even if they be books or what.

Eureka.. found one.

As the OP stated, stretching is generally ignored by many who otherwise maintain a healthy regime of exercising. It is important for a variety of reason, one being that it promotes the lymphatic system and works against bodily stagnation. It is one of the three keystones of health, with strength and aerobic capabilities.

Can someone suggest light exercise for a senior citizen in 80s who needs to reduce waistline? I think person could breathe/move better if some lbs are lost, although person is not overweight. With diabetes and macular degeneration.. i mention this last in case someone also has natural suggests to help deal w/ that. Thanks.
