I don't see that God's spirit moving over the surface of the waters necessitates reading the story as having the surface of the earth as the frame of reference.

God, Himself, sets the vantage point, for the entire Gen 1 narrative, in Gen 1.2, as the surface of earth.

Since you fail to acknowledge this, then you will forever be misinterpreting the rest of the narrative as one from the vantage point of the cosmos looking in...when, in fact, it is just the opposite.

No wonder you lack confidence...and you are a YEC...

the earth was "without form" in Genesis 1:2

what does the "surface" of something that is without form look like?

:smoke: meaning the first creation of earth in this reality is not literally desame as anyone or should we say
any beings think as it was literally having a physical form

Good gravy! You seriously need to stop smoking the 'herb' of the field. It's rotting your brain.

:smoke: it is yours that is rotten
and your brain doesnt even brought forth any wisdom
nor spirit of good will thats why its stop growing at all

:now: tell to all the people here how on earth that the plants and trees
could grow without the benefits of time existing at that realm
not just like how your brain is rotten by the time itself without giving any thoughts of it :haha:

 the creator of all things existed without the essence of time
and giving a time for his first creation would only giving a question on how god exist without time!
and this is the answer where your rotten brain cannot understand

God exists in timeless eternity
How does God acting before time began get around the problem of God's creation? There are two possible interpretations of these verses. One is that God exists outside of time. Since we live in a universe of cause and effect, we naturally assume that this is the only way in which any kind of existence can function. However, the premise is false. Without the dimension of time, there is no cause and effect, and all things that could exist in such a realm would have no need of being caused, but would have always existed. Therefore, God has no need of being created, but, in fact, created the time dimension of our universe specifically for a reason - so that cause and effect would exist for us. However, since God created time, cause and effect would never apply to His existence. :8)

God exists in multiple dimensions of time
The second interpretation is that God exists in more than one dimension of time. Things that exist in one dimension of time are restricted to time's arrow and are confined to cause and effect. However, two dimensions of time form a plane of time, which has no beginning and no end and is not restricted to any single direction. A being that exists in at least two dimensions of time can travel anywhere in time and yet never had a beginning, since a plane of time has no starting point. Either interpretation leads one to the conclusion that God has no need of having been created. :alien:

Genesis: 40. 11. All things that are of the earth shall turn to the earth again: and that which is of the waters doth return into the sea. 12. All bribery and injustice shall be blotted out: but true dealing shall endure for ever. 13. The goods of the unjust shall be dried up like a river, and shall vanish with noise, like a great thunder in rain. 14. While he openeth his hand he shall rejoice: so shall transgressors come to nought. 15. The children of the ungodly shall not bring forth many branches: but are as unclean roots upon a hard rock. 16. The weed growing upon every water and bank of a river shall be pulled up before all grass. 17. Bountifulness is as a most fruitful garden, and mercifulness endureth for ever. 18. To labour, and to be content with that a man hath, is a sweet life: but he that findeth a treasure is above them both. 19. Children and the building of a city continue a man's name: but a blameless wife is counted above them both. 20. Wine and musick rejoice the heart: but the love of wisdom is above them both. 21. The pipe and the psaltery make sweet melody: but a pleasant tongue is above them both. 22. Thine eye desireth favour and beauty: but more than both corn while it is green. 23. A friend and companion never meet amiss: but above both is a wife with her husband. 24. Brethren and help are against time of trouble: but alms shall deliver more than them both. 25. Gold and silver make the foot stand sure: but counsel is esteemed above them both. 26. Riches and strength lift up the heart: but the fear of the Lord is above them both: there is no want in the fear of the Lord, and it needeth not to seek help. 27. The fear of the Lord is a fruitful garden, and covereth him above all glory. :alien:

 in the beggining the earth was formless and empty, meaning no waters inside of it :hmm:
 though it is all dark in the beggining
it is the waters which is covered the entire darkness from below
that is why it is in the face of the deep . ...
:8) waters can also be translated as space
as vast ocean of space . ... :alien:
please let us take a better look unto this writings
read:
16. 50. So shall righteousness hate iniquity, when she decketh herself, and shall accuse her to her face, when he cometh that shall defend him that diligently searcheth out every sin upon earth. 51. And therefore be ye not like thereunto, nor to the works thereof. 52. For yet a little, and iniquity shall be taken away out of the earth, and righteousness shall reign among you. 53. Let not the sinner say that he hath not sinned: for God shall burn coals of fire upon his head, which saith before the Lord God and his glory, I have not sinned. 54. Behold, the Lord knoweth all the works of men, their imaginations, their thoughts, and their hearts: 55. Which spake but the word, Let the earth be made; and it was made: Let the heaven be made; and it was created. 56. In his word were the stars made, and he knoweth the number of them. 57. He searcheth the deep, and the treasures thereof; he hath measured the sea, and what it containeth. 58. He hath shut the sea in the midst of the waters, and with his word hath he hanged the earth upon the waters. 59. He spreadeth out the heavens like a vault; upon the waters hath he founded it.

I don't believe I fail to acknowledge it, I believe it isn't there, or isn't necessarily there.

so, Bowman (or anyone who wants to answer), I understand you see 'day' in gen 1 to mean 'epoch'.

is this true for 'day' in "God called the light day" as well?

the earth was "without form" in Genesis 1:2

what does the "surface" of something that is without form look like?

"without form" is a translation of Hebrew tohuw. Find out the various usages of Hebrew tohuw in God's Word and it will better describe how it's meant in Gen.1:2. In many OT Scriptures, tohuw doesn't mean simply a vacuum void of nothingness. It means a desolate ruin, state of vanity, uselessness, and it's often used to apply to something that went into that state.

Something else that must be dealt with.

In Isaiah 45:18, God said He did NOT create the earth tohuw (Hebrew word = "in vain"; translated as "without form" in Gen.1:2 and Jer.4:23).

That means God didn't create the earth "without form"; it had become that way. What could have caused God's perfect creation to go into a state of vanity and ruin at Gen.1:2? Satan's original rebellion against Him.

2 Peter 3:5-6
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
KJV

Genesis 1:2 with the state of the earth being Hebrew 'tohuw va bohuw', in a ruin and a waste, is that old earth that perished which Peter was talking about there.

Satan's original rebellion against Him.

it says 'He did not create it tohu, he formed it to be inhabited'. In other words its FINAL purpose in creation was to be inhabited'.

Initially He made it 'tohu wabohu', waste and empty, and then He formed things upon it

so, Bowman (or anyone who wants to answer), I understand you see 'day' in gen 1 to mean 'epoch'.

is this true for 'day' in "God called the light day" as well?

In Gen 1 that is the only meaning of 'yom', a period of light. We are not told how long the period of light was, only that it had an evening (an end) and a morning (a beginning).

it says 'He did not create it tohu, he formed it to be inhabited'. In other words its FINAL purpose in creation was to be inhabited'.

Sorry, I have to laugh at your lack of reading comprehension.

No, He did NOT make the earth 'tohuw', which is what He said first in Isaiah 45:18.

Isa 45:18
18 For thus saith the LORD That created the heavens; God Himself That formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.
KJV

How can you have an earth created to be inhabited (lived upon) if it's instead in a state of ruin and a waste (i.e., tohuw, "without form")? You can't. That's why He said He did NOT create it "without form" "in vain", but instead to be lived upon.

The whole matter of what Gen.1:2 forward to 1:9 is about, is very simple if it's read in simplicity like it says, even without looking at the Hebrew. You got waters overspread upon the earth, showing there was a flood on the surface of the earth at Gen.1:2, and then God dividing and moving those waters to form today's sky and then moving the waters left to make the dry land reappear.

The earth was there all along underneath all that water per Gen.1:2.

In Gen 1 that is the only meaning of 'yom', a period of light. We are not told how long the period of light was, only that it had an evening (an end) and a morning (a beginning).

thanks! and is the 'day' that the sun rules over also an unknown period of time in your view?

also, are you saying that morning is the beginning of the day?

In Gen 1 that is the only meaning of 'yom', a period of light. We are not told how long the period of light was, only that it had an evening (an end) and a morning (a beginning).

also, is the 'light' literal, like what a lightbulb produces, or figurative, as in righteousness or something?
